Being part of this community has been a game changer!! Thank you, John Maxwell, and your entire team for the work you have put in for the world to find a better place in themselves and the world!! May God continue to bless you and all your work!!
To be a person who is self-aware of themselves, who is aware of their emotions, feelings, and actions takes a lot of time and effort from a person. We have to be able to learn about who we are to have self-awareness, a person would need the experience to have it because from a kid to an adult we have slowly developed our character based on the people surrounding us and the environment we are in, we get comfortable there because it has become our comfort zone but when we start to venture into the outside world, to live in different places, to work with different people it would become evident that our behavior or attitude might not be as perfect as we think. This is where we become aware of who we are, some people are lucky to be exposed earlier because they have gotten the chance to learn from their experiences, but for some, they get hit hard on the face because they weren't self-aware but self obssessed. It takes experience, maturity, and courage to be able to see ourselves because when this happens we would have to accept that there is something we need to change in us, self-awareness would need us to be consistent, transparency, willingness to address our weaknesses without being defensive; and understanding your values and what is important to you.
First time adding a comment but long time podcast listener. My son came up through the baseball ranks with Chris' son either playing on the same teams at 643 or against when he moved to ECB. He is now a college pitcher and is excelling in school as well. I take from the podcasts the tools and lessons and not only use them at the company I work for but also raising my children. Thank you for all you do and making the material real and relatable.
1. Ask others what it's like to be on the other side of me 2. Have someone in your life whose opinion of you means more than your opinion about yourself 3. Ask the hard questions. Why am I this way. Why do I feel this way 4. Be willing to change 5. Don't look at small mishaps. Focus on the body of work you've done well 6. If you're not aware of yourself, you can't be aware of others 7. Give equal grace to yourself as to others 8. Ask questions to others: How do I come across 9. Take to heart what others say, show who you are, not tell who you are. Put yourself in a learning position

Self-aware leaders motivate, inspire, and challenge their followers by using their grasp of emotions and how they effect others. Leaders that are self-aware are more trusted, and they can provide their people better direction and purpose, resulting in higher levels of performance. Leaders appear to be lacking in self-awareness. While women in senior managerial positions are more self-aware than men in similar roles, the overall percentages show that there is still space for development. Maturity, criticism, and a willingness to change all contribute to self awareness. Consistency, openness, and honesty; readiness to face our flaws without being defensive; and recognizing your beliefs and what is essential to you are all products of self awareness.

This video was great amazing about the self-awareness leader, The Self-aware Leader is helping us develop practical guidance for how leaders can learn to see themselves more clearly and they have 2 kinds of Self-awareness: internal and external, the internal that how clearly we see our own values, passions, aspirations, fit with our environment, reactions including thoughts, feelings, behaviors, strengths, and weaknesses with the other leaders and the higher job and relationship satisfaction, personal and social control, and happiness; it is negatively related to anxiety, stress, and depression. Last the external, understanding of how other people view us, in terms of those same factors listed above and for leaders who see themselves as their employees do, their employees tend to have a better relationship with them, feel more satisfied with them, and see them as more effective in general. The single greatest impediment to leaders' development, effectiveness, and advancement is a lack of self-awareness. Dr. John C. Maxwell can help any leader improve their self-awareness, focus, and confidence. Self-awareness is essential for both new and experienced leaders who want to avoid micromanagement, handle criticism with grace, and give others the credit they deserve. Maxwell also hopes to assist current and new managers in identifying their strengths, becoming a better learner, and improving their listening skills. Leaders limit their influence and undermine their own effectiveness when they do not see themselves clearly, understand their own strengths and weaknesses, or recognize their negative interactions with their team.
