Great video. Awesome seeing another AZ Blacksmith doing nice work. Cheers! Copper touchmark is genius.

That copper touchmark makes such a difference. Don't get me wrong, the whole ladle looks amazing. But that finishing touch *chef kiss*

Beautiful!! What gauge copper are you using for the ladle?

Hi! I believe we used 16 gauge copper for this ladle.

Why start with stainless steel? After forging heat isn’t it no longer stainless? Also are you not worried about the chromium vapors?

Hi! It is still stainless after forging. The chromium is bonded and typically needs to get hotter than forging temps to evaporate at any real scale. I’m sure some does goes into the air, but it doesn’t seem to be enough to cause a problem. All that being said, it probably wouldn’t be a bad idea to wear a respirator while forging.

Not really forging, stamped handle with some hammer dents, I was making copper bowls in ninth grade shop class , I mean its alright but not vary well made.
The handle should be flayed out into a oval shape where it connects to the bowl , rivets should be horizontal not vertical , handle should be forged from 1/2inch square stock drawn-out to length with a rounding hammer, etc, etc. But good beginner stuff

Yeah. This definitely isn’t rocket science. This particular ladle was for a customer that already had one and wanted me to make a reproduction one as a gift.
