    This all went down over a year ago now at this point - had a lot of stuff going on in my life with different projects and just decided to downsize. The decision to sell this is what gave rise to the idea of owning the old 84 mustang that we now all know today as the "Rotstang". Below are the links to the original Chevy Luv content:

      Who all likes v8s????? salvaging old cars is green, but not so much v8s. At least with 4wd you don't need the lightest possible engine for traction, but that's a better reason for diesel than for v8. I want a 2.2 in my B200!

    Sorry, but I really liked my old LUV trucks. The first one I had was a later model of the first generation body. It was a 4x4 and I ran the hell out of that little truck. It was great in the mud too. Second one was a later body style 2wd with the Diesel engine. When I got it the bed was falling off and the rear half of the frame was pretty much shot. I widened and grafted on the rear frame from an old Datsun and built a flatbed on it. It got great mileage and I drove the wheels off it too. Really miss that little truck. After 62 years on this earth, I’ve learned that you can do a helluva lot without a V8 engine.

    For what it's worth, I liked the variety this truck adds to your channel. I am a fan of both F 150s & old Japanese trucks because they are so weird. I wouldn't be put off if you did a '76 Toyota Hillux or something like that. It's all good fun and you've got great content. Thanks for your work.

    I had a 79 Chevy LUV 4 by 4 got it in Idaho took it places people amazed it would make it there. Drove that sucker from Idaho all the way to Southwest Missouri wish I still had it fun little truck. Advance adapters made a kit to put a Ford V6 out of the 70s capris into the Chevy LUV.

      omg I that would have been awesome with the newer performance parts. I remember back in 1980 at the ft smith ark fair, the local dealer had a black one, fully equipped, jacked, tired, bars, winch, tinted windows, I would have given a kidney for one. Not mine, of course. It's one of my biggest gripes with mini trucks and cars, they get something light, and put a sewing machine in it. Miata, midgets, coopers, luvs, hi-lux/datsuns, pontiac solstice/saturn's knockoff... or the first mass produced midengine american car, the pontiac fiero. If that had a real motor in it, it could be a road racer. Great, now I've got to find a fiero on ebay, and a mechanical engineer.

    • @blitzcourt5021
      @blitzcourt5021 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      generalxanos nothing wrong with the 4 cylinders they all came with. They too are “real” motors as you want to put it. To a lot of people it’s about the power but man a lot of the old carbureted 4 bangers did have a nice sound to them and there is plenty you can do
      To make some more power. I got an old 85 D50. 2.0 Weber carb and a lot of other stuff but it’s a badass truck imo I like v8s too but there’s nothing wrong with a 4 or 6 banger. A cool car is still a cool car

    I had a friend with a 2wd Chevy Luv 4 speed in the mid 1980’s. Chipper and his dad rebuilt the engine, I’m not sure what they did to it but it was pretty quick with the 4 speed and 4.10 gears! 👍

    I really hate to see the LUV go. A lot of nostalgia for me. My dad had one and I can remember having to hold it in third gear for him as a child as we raced down the backwoods of South Alabama chasing deer dogs. It was a piece of crap but to me at 4 or 5 years old it might as well been a monster truck. It hauled many a deer from the woods...

    My buddy had a 79 Luv right after we graduated high school in the mid 90’s. The thing was a big pile of shit. Floorboards were rusted out. Nothing worked. Leaked every fluid in the truck but yet started every single time. We used to throw our hockey gear in gear in the bed and our band equipment. I hated and Luv’d that truck all at the same time. So much so that our band wrote a song about it. Ahh memories.

    I actually wouldn't mind one of those, but I'd want it in more original condition. Was really tempted to bid on one at an auction once, as it was in really good shape, but I just didn't have money at the time. Only went for $600, but I didn't even have that at the time.

    No love for the Luv . My Dad had one way......back in the late 70's and it took more than one beat down . It had more HP in the heater fan motor than it did in its engine . Luckily it died...not sure how and he brought home a 71 ford 351 W with three on the tree , I still have the motor out of that truck and should put it in something . Well let's see what you got next up your sleeve.

    With the petrol prices the way they are, and will continue to be, a 4 cyl is just the ticket. Ya we all love V8's, but for many they are totally out of range price-wise... to build and to run on stupidly expensive petrol. At the rate the prices are going, a ride down the street with a BB ford will soon require a second mortgage... more 4 cyl and 6 inlines would be great... had an inline 6 in my 79 Mustang, and with a bit of work ( all on a flowbench ) not only did it haul ass, but cornered like a rollerskate, unlike the V8 Mustangs that loved to nosedive around corners. (had a few of em in my time) 8|
