Exactly what I was looking for. I am a automation program tech where I work and have been requested to change passwords to critical settings on our package machines. Been working with FT View for 7 years now but have never needed to change or add users/passwords. Thank you for sharing!!

This is Rodney again... I have a question in regards to a user login policy on a PanelView 1k+. We have 39 machines with PV1k's. Say a lead mechanic which would have level 3 security rights logs in but forgets to logout when done. Is there a way to set a timeout for a user login to prevent this. For example, say he logs in and will automatically be logged out say in 30 minutes after no activity. Everything I have read seams to pertain to computer users logins using FactoryTalk. Just not very clear to me.

Rodney Burkett yes in the runtime start up options you select an automatic logout time sorry for the late response

This helped me a lot with a panel that I was building for a customer. I need to save this video to reference later on for future panel builds. Thank you.

    Thanks for the tutorial!!!
I use the function CurrentUserHasGroup( "XXX" ) instead of CurrentUserHasCode() to avoid the security code "setup".
Instead of the "XXX", insert the name of the user group (in my case "Administrators").

    Hi.
How come you got the caption for keypad. In my application I tried entering the caption in the popup settings of Numeric input cursor but to no success. Could you please guide me where I can find the settings to enable the caption.
I am using Panel view plus Standard (6 inch) and Factory talk view studio V 11.0 CPR 9 SR11.
    Thanks

I haven't watched this video with sound yet, I will when I get to work tomorrow, But, is there a way to log the changes made? Like when you changed the temperature set point, could you log that information and store it in AssetCentre? We currently do this with RSLogix. I want to set up user accounts and data logging for the PanelViews.
    Thanks

In one of the projects, I could get data from the power monitor to the PanelView, by assigning a new device in RSLinx Enterprise, I tried to make expression and checked the Syntax and it was "valid". But when I test it, it returns ****, what could be the reason???
In order to solve this problem, I used a message command in RSLogix 500 and copied to the HMI as a tag. I learned that from your Power flex video.

Short answer NO. however there would not be a need as you can accomplish what you want many other ways I am sure. You didn't describe what you were trying to achieve so further input is not possible but you can do about anything your mind can come up with one way or another I use statements a lot and you can use the security attribute to dictate items whether a specific user (or more usual for me is the does current user have ?? letter code)

I noticed you're running FTView Machine Edition, can you do this same procedure in Site Edition? My SE application doesn't seem to simply have a "Login Button" or "Logout Button" like your ME application has.

What version of SE are you using

To allow users to log on to a FactoryTalk View SE Client at run time,
provide them with a way to run the Login (or Logout) command.
For example, in a graphic display, include a button that has the Login
command as the press action. When the current user clicks the button, the
FactoryTalk View SE Client Login dialog box will open.
Let me know if this helps

    • @phleena

Your comment did help, thanks so much. I actually started out in that direction from the beginning but was worried that you could only configure one username and password. The command wizard displays a dialogue box where you can enter a username and password for one person and puts it into the correct syntax for the command. Turns out if you just leave the inputs blank, the Users that you configured "Users and Groups" work out just fine.

I do invisible login buttons over the set points that can be changed. With different level of codes for users, my questions is when the login is wrong it kicks back to the configure screen and says invalid and what i am wanting to figure out is out do i make it where when the login is wrong it just reopens the login button showing it was wrong. My hmi's did that before i went and messed with them lol
