  • This is the story of Edwards and his remarkable wife Sarah as seen through her eyes. Sarah is played by Maggie Rowe, who adapted for the screen her one-person play performed for several years across America. The life of the Edwards makes for an incredible story.
    Jonathan Edwards (1703-1758) was America's greatest theologian and a leader in ""The Great Awakening"" (which reached its height in the 1740s), a religious movement that decisively shaped American life. This is the story of Edwards and his remarkable wife Sarah as seen through her eyes. Sarah is played by Maggie Rowe, who adapted for the screen her one-person play performed for several years across America. The life of the Edwards makes for an incredible story. Leaders of a prestigious colonial American church parish, they survived the death of children and grandchildren, international fame for spiritual leadership, and local humiliation and public ridicule from opponents. Edwards paved the way for deeper understanding of the ways and working of God in the world that has inspired every generation since, yet he was voted out of his own congregation by resentful agitators. Through it all was his faithful wife Sarah. Mother of 11 children, she supported him through the peaks and valleys, even though she was herself subject to bouts of depression. Edwards is often remembered for his famous sermon, Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God, delivered in Enfield, Connecticut on July 8, 1741. In this program, however, we see him through the eyes of his beloved wife as a minister whose emphasis was far more on the grace and mercy of God. Through the intimacy of their gentle and faithful love for each other, we are provided penetrating insight into an amazing home and marriage relationship, one that left an incredible legacy in American history, as well as insight into an unusual man who stands among the most influential in all of church history.

    Jonathan Edwards was the topic I was assigned by my high school English teacher for my 11th grade research paper. This was many years ago, decades before the Internet and online research could even be imagined by the average person. My high school library had no books or publications about Jonathan Edwards, but I was fortunate to find a book and other resource materials about him at The Citadel, the college that was across the river from where I lived in Charleston SC. The public was not allowed to check out books from The Citadel Library, so I spent many hours there writing my paper. Good memories.

      Alas sometimes there are members who do awful thing to other members and they should receive the consequences of their misdeeds because if the church does nothing it will allow evil to grow and fester in it until it is nothing but an empty shell.

    This woman’s’ story shows how ministers are thought not to have to be helped by anyone in the congregation because they are so busy doing the work of God and He will keep them thus some of them fall into this circumstance because they think they are letting others down but God says we shouldn’t trust men but only God for men die and all their lives go down in the dust for from dust you came, and to dust you will go.

    Ten Commandments
    1-You shall have no other gods before me.
    2-You shall not make any idols.
    3-You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain.
    4-Remember the Sabbath Day.
    5-Honor your father and mother.
    6-You shall not murder.
    7-You shall not commit adultery.
    8-You shall not steal.
    9-You shall not lie.
    10-You shall not covet.
    You will have to face God on Judgement Day.He sees lust as adultery, “Whoever looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart.”(Matthew 5:28)
    he sees hatred as murder,”Anyone who hates another brother or sister is a murderer, (1 John 3:15)
    Will you go to Heaven or Hell?Here’s a quick test: Have you ever told a lie, stolen anything, used God’s name in vain, or hated someone?
    James 2:10 says, “the person who keeps all of the laws except one is as guilty as a person who has broken all of God’s laws.” If you have done any of those things, God sees you as guilty of breaking His law and the Bible warns that the guilty will end up in Hell. Will YOU be guilty on Judgement Day? God sent His Son to suffer and die on the cross.Jesus took the punishment upon Himself,
    “For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)
    Jesus rose from the dead and defeated death. Repent (turn from sin) today and trust in Jesus. Then read and obey your bible daily.
    I encourage you to read the whole Text because it's valuable information concerning your life, also there is 24 hours in a day so there is plenty of time to read.

    I hardly think Sarah had cropped hair or wore lipstick. Born on the Sabbath? The Sabbath IS NOT Sunday. It is Saturday, and Almighty God has commanded us to keep it. It was Emperor Constantine, who allowed the Christians to worship after they came out of the catacombs, and gave them a day to worship: Sunday, named after the Sun god, Rah.

    • @ojshilinski8358
      @ojshilinski8358 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I wish more who claim Christianity could understand why the First Day pf the week was chosen as the Sabbath. Many who know about Constantine say it doesn't matter.

      @tamararutland-mills9530 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ojshilinski8358 Thank you. We are commanded to remember the Sabbath Day, and to keep it holy. The Lord’s Day is Sunday, as referred to in the NT. God has not changed, neither have the basic commandments that He gave to us. They are timeless.

    • @ojshilinski8358
      @ojshilinski8358 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tamararutland-mills9530, Constantine revised Scripture in order to get Pagans who revered Sun Day into the Christian Church. Evidently that's why the first day is named "SUNDAY".
      Creation was revealed to Moses by our Heavenly Father. In the first two chapters of Genesis he describes "the generations" (Chapter 2) of each day of Creation. Generation of the 6th day was when Adam & Eve were created. He called the generations of Creation "very good" and on the 7th, He rested. He named the 7th: The Sabbath (the 4th Commandment).

    • @esmeraldagreen1992
      @esmeraldagreen1992 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Tamara Rutland Miller that is nonsense, although there are many who doubt Constatine conversion, it wasn't Constantine who decided to tell people to use Sunday as the day of worship, but the church councils. There were various reasons and none had to do with the worship of the sun as a deity, but rather with the symbolism of the light of the sun representing the light of God's Spirit, His Word and His Salvation. Sunday was chosen because it was universally accepted by the Christians of the time as the day of the Resurrection when Jesus appeared to Mary Magdene and the Apostles Peter and John. The crucifixion was hallmarked by the darkness of the skies and a earthquake, but Sunday marked the return of the Savior to earth and the return of His eternal light to the world. So the comparison of this event with the phenomenon of the sun returning light to world after the night helped Christians remember the importance of the Resurrection of Christ that was the crowning moment and completion of mankind's redemption from eternal death. The symbolism made Sunday the perfect day to rest and worship God and reconnect with Him. The word Sabbath comes from the Hebrew word Shavat which simply means rest or to rest. This shows that when God established the day of shavat he did not have a specific day of the weekin mind, that men would set aside a day of their week dedicated exclusively to His worship which can be any day of the week the church as a whole agrees upon. Interestingly number of Christians in the middle east worship on Friday or on Saturday so they will not clash with their Muslim or Jewish neighbors just because they do not worship on Sunday it doesn't mean their worship isn't valid.
      Just because society at large has decided that Saturday is the seventh day of the week it does not mean that our Saturday corresponds to the seventh day when God " rested" from creation. God does not need rest, but man, so God gave men a day in which to rest and worship him, but the specific day in which we do this doesn't really matter as long as we dedicate one day of the week to God. The acts of meeting with fellow Christians and worshipping together and resting is more important than the day when this happens. When Jesus was criticized for healing people on the Sabbath and for letting his disciples glean wheat from the field to feed themselves Jesus told the Jews thst the Sabbath had been made for Man and not the other way around and they should not to become bogged down in the strictures and letter of the law, instead of following its Spirit.
