Alex Lampe - Paradox - Yamaha EZ-AG demo

- "Paradox" is a song I wrote to showcase some of the Yamaha EZ-AG's capabilities. I hope you like it.
I used the MIDI output to store the song on a computer, and edited the sound before "reuniting" it with the video.
This video also provides you with a first, brief glimpse on how my recording sessions usually go: dramatic and concentrated while playing,
silly and chaotic when not.

Great to hear someone approach the midi guitar not as a guitar. I have gigged for the past 25 years with a Casio MG510, backing cabaret acts and playing pubs n clubs. Love your composition and playing . Can't wait for your next clip.

Thanks :) Originally, this song was meant to be part of the soundtrack for a short film. The short film project never got off the ground, but I never forgot the song. Then, when I got my hands on one of those Yamahas, I adjusted the composition slightly and added an ending. Et voila: this video was born.

Thanks. I connected the Yamaha to my computer via an Edirol MIDI to USB converter. Basically, I used the EZ-AG as a midi controller. The sound you hear is actually a MAGIX Studio piano preset, but the real sound that came from the Yamaha while recording was very similar. I believe there are about 20 different sounds you can choose from on the Yamaha itself; the piano sound is my favorite :)

That is a nice piano sound. Does that come with the EZ-AG or is it from an external synth box?
This particular sound came with the MAGIX Music Studio version I used at the time to edit the music. The EZ-AG has a pretty similar piano sound coming from its speaker, though.

Thanks. It’s been my observation that good piano sounds are pretty rare in low-end synths.

@@EtzEchad You're welcome. To be fair, the synth sound from this EZ-AG does lack the body of a keyboard, and I personally wouldn't use it for on-stage performances or recording using mics, but for practicing or showing off to friends it's perfect :)

Thanks. I chose a slightly different, fuller piano sound for the final product. It sounds pretty similar to the sound the EZ-AG makes, though.
