Haha, I started that thread - totally forgot about that crazy reply! Warwick is great (despite every uni having its ups & downs), don't let anyone dissuade you!

I feel like you just started yesterday, time has flown by 😮
I agree with you about the PBL/CBL issue. I’m at St. George’s that is heavily PBL based and it’s massively dependent on the tutor you end up with and the group. I find it minimally useful and would much rather be taught by lectures (that could be based on patient cases). It ends up feeling like a “DIY” degree because you teach yourself so much of the content.

Thank you very much for this, it's easy to get spooked by these posts and wind up making a bad decision. Great explanation too about the lower satisfaction score

Haha that's so true - it's how med schools operate and we can't blame them for those issues entirely since doctors are quite busy and there are emergencies all the time (once I got a lesson rescheduled three times because the surgeon was doing a liver transplant + the same patient got an abscess afterwards)...thanks for posting the video!

Hi Ollie, I have offers from Cambridge, Exeter and Keele medical schools and I can't decide between them. I worry that at Cambridge I will have no opportunity to enjoy uni life and I will miss the clinical experience. At Exeter they do not do dissection which many people I have spoken to have said is a fantastic opportunity, but I prefer the city it is in than Keele. If you are able to provide any insight into how I can make my choice I would really appreciate it.

I honestly wouldn't get too hung up on dissection - it definitely is a fantastic opportunity but more than likely won't have any bearing on how good a doc you'll be. For me the city made a huge difference and I loved being in Newcastle (hope to go back there as an F1) - go where your instinct tells you you'll be happiest rather than anything else, you've got to last out the degree :)

Do you think you will learn to drive? I didn't get my license until I was 33 and now when I drive I'm always like "can't believe I put this freedom off for so long." I was so scared when I first got my license but still, 2 months later I drove around Australia haha.

I was one of the oens intrigued to hear the update and .. it is a shame but im not surprised. I'm at another uk med school and can't agree to any of these things very often, but warwick seems to normalise them as "just one of them things" like unhelpful staff, and APG or disorganisation. ofc theres issues anywhere but ... i cant think of a systemic problem im experiencing that isnt solved or at least approached, no fear disclosing issues to staff etc.
i did my UG at warwick though and it was very much the same in a totally different field so maybe its a warwick thing, not a warwick med thing, (but i didnt have a great time at warwick for UG so .... YMMV!)

Can you make a video about what to do if someone did not get any offers?
Or got offers for some of the courses like Biomed other than medicine?
Do you recommend taking a gap year or reapply as a graduate or reapply whilst studying the first year of biomed for example?

It's interesting watching this now - very different experience now. Warwick have been great. Perhaps this individual just had a really bad one off experience
