Their loss: British teeth are, despite all the stereotypes, some of the healthiest in the world, largely due to kids seeing NHS Dentists for free until they turn 18. We spend a LOT less on cosmetic improvements than, say, the US, but in terms of lack of decay, disease, fillings or things that actually matter, we're in the top 5.
Francis Wharton a resourceful hunter and inventor, who lived near Little Fort B.C. in the 1950s and 60s, shot a deer and used its teeth to make dentures for himself. Then turned around and ate the deer with its own teeth.
At least in America, pre-civil-war, some false teeth were also derived from slaves. Considering that George Washington *owned* slaves, that opens up some disturbing possibilities in regards to his dentures (some of which did have human teeth in them -- he owned several sets over the years).
@John_Smith_60 His set of dentures were teeth made from ivory, lead-tin alloy, copper alloy, and silver alloy, with the teeth of humans, horses, and cows. So they had real teeth in them even if the rest was man-made, though you can technically say that human teeth are man-made if they grew in a man's mouth.
@charlespeterwatson9051 Well some of them could have been *_woman-made,_* even if they came from battlefields. 🤨 But I never wrote anything about "man-made", I commented about "false".
The spring loaded teeth popping out thing reminds me when I was at school and had braces and play with the elastics I had hooked in (used to poke my tongue in ans around the gap) One time one pinged out my mouth and landed on my teachers desk right jn front of him 😂😂
I've heard of describing something unpleasant as a kick in the teeth. I've also heard something unpleasant being a kick in the balls. Alan made it so that those are one and the same.
Every body had 32 teeth? Not necessarily, people could have lost a few. Even with modern dentistry, I've had 4 teeth removed due to overcrowding so the others could be straightened and I've never grown my wisdom teeth. Don't come for mine - there are only 24 of them.
What a weird thing to be a pedant about, you want him to sit there and give a disclaimer? “And they all had 32 teeth, disclaimer, no not everyone had 32 teeth, despite it being common knowledge that humans have 32 teeth, some people might have less due to either operations or defects and some people might have more once again due to natural defects in their biology.”
Alan should really be writing horror films. Quite a detailed imagination for revenge has that man.
This one was one of his best, too!
Give the thumbnail elf a raise! Genius
No one would want my teeth: I'm British. RIP Cal Wilson.

Oh my gosh I had no clue she passed away 💔
Cal Wilson R.I.P. One NZ icons sadly missed.
"What were false teeth made of in those days?"
Lies. They were made of lies.
So, when does Grave robbing flip over to Archeology?
When there's no surviving relatives to complain, I suppose. 🤔🤣
When the grave robber has a degree in archeology.
There was a transitional period when grave robbers called themselves "Antiquarians".
I think it's cca 50 years.
When you put what you stole in a museum
I love the idea of racism-blocking dentures. You could hear a pin drop in Westminster!
It might once and for all teach everyone the difference between a joke and an insult~
Series J was 2012, so just slightly too early for Rob Beckett to be the butt of any jokes about horse teeth.
Bet Janet Street Porter was overjoyed when he came along.

I must have driven through Little Fort several times, and never noticed.
Aw, it makes me sad seeing older videos with Cal in them 🥺
I had no idea until now she passed 💔
@ yeah, I never saw any reporting on it.

Washington's false teeth had real teeth.
Yes. If the dentures were made with real human teeth, surely they can't be described as *_false_* teeth.
(yeah, yeah, don't call you Shirley. . . . )

All the bones from Waterloo dead were dug up and ground into fertilizer. True - look it up… Sick.

It’s the first time I see Jimmie Carr ❤ in casual clothes.

There's also supernumeraries! I was born with an extra incisor so had to have that removed

Another clip from the long long ago when QI was watchable, and actually "I".
Amazing the * stuff* they never taught us in school to keep kids interested---waterloo teeth? 🪥
Can't tolerate Jack. He's one of the absolute worst.
Maybe you're one of the ones who need his teeth invention?
