- Building a hover vessel in a hole in the ground was a brilliant idea right up to the point where I need to get it out of the hole..... We also do a bit of exploring today, what we can do with a PV and drones hovering around I guess..

A storage box consumes one CPU.
If you can get 10 titanium ingots from the titan you can make a basic extender, i think you already have or can get the cobalt ore.
Mass producing biofuel in multiple dedicated portables is the way to go early on, what little generator power you now have is best used harvesting logs.
I think at early game stages appearance should be the very last priority so you could make use of the higher capacity storage boxes like the framed version.
2 days ago I discovered that flamethrowers one shot trees. No clue if that works in RE, but it really changed my life.
In my playthrough, i spawned in way out in the middle of the ocean. Took me 10 minutes of swimming to get to the closest shore. Then, after a while and building a little starter base, that patrol vessel kept circling my little island. It ended up decimating an alien helix nearby, which allowed me to get a T2 shotty and T2 pulse rifle and got me a drill. Super lucky start.

Multitool and laser drill ammo are crafted from promethium fuel now. You can put biofuel into any tank and withdraw promethium fuel.

Holy steel block batman! Starter constructor n fridge - Fridge on hv as well - in hole... i do it on swamp planets in vanilla. Cheap on that, here? i dunno hehehe
It's Empyrion at its best you're being hunted by raptors, searched by alien search parties, and building a throw-away hover in a cave. Everything I love about this game. NMS should take notes. This is indie space survival done right.

I always keep 4 or 5 portable constructors making raw material from stone. You just set them and forget them. Every once in awhile I'll swing by and empty the output and kick them off again.
Glad to be able to sit down with my coffe and watch some RE again :)

Im at 18:08 and if everything is heavier in reforge from the other video you done. I've struggled with basically a flying cockpit with two full and two half containers full in vanilla with four of the repulsers.
But time will tell as i eagerly continue to watch 😀

75 stones to 5 ores (iron, copper, silicon) to 10 ingots, in portable constructor. I found out that adding 2 blue thrusters (maybe one centered) in the middle did the trick to good movement, then the green ones still can provide directional force, 2 thrusters in back for speed.
I'm trying a Project Eden SP with Ocean start, no M&V&C. The Defense Towers are easy to take over (small HV and get close up since dead zones, then have also the turrets as resources.). Took over an Outpost with turrets still on, but the PV circled outside their range while still could hit.
Ahh yes, watching Spanj chase down Raptors with an electric shaver..
You can't get up any slope greater than 45 degrees. It doesn't matter if it's just a tiny piece that's in the way. Sometimes you can get up by approaching from a different angle or by moving sideways in a back & forth motion as you go up.

Spanj the Shift + O orientation lock is very useful in getting out of holes like these.. you didn't need thrusters, you just needed the orientation lock.
Only works with a drill on the ship.

Between you and Ironwulf, it's clear that surviving on very hard mode requires invoking your inner DRG and becoming a diggy diggy dwarf. Good information to have!
I haven't built anything from scratch in years but i think the thrusters you used said they will not hover over water so I'm not sure it's going to get you off the island. It's very fun to watch a builder vs a factory user like myself play. I just focus on dumping everything but ammo into the factory and wait until i get enough mat to create

If you put 4 green lifters and 2 blue lifters you get the bennies from green, no Thrusters, and lifting power and use over water.
Your run on Oscutune sure lasts longer than mine in 1.4. I got constantly ganked by raptor packs...so much so that I had to ask relocating to an easier planet. Though you have played this from zero to hero several times in your series so no wonder you get a smoother start. Experience counts!
It's nice to see that although Spanj is an expert at the late mid game, he makes the rest of us early game peasants look like geniuses. We're all like, "Noooo, bro. Those green repulsers are something like 400 CPU and barely work over water! YOU'RE ON AN OCEAN PLANET!" 😄
Didnt there used to be something in the green hover description about them not working on water, or maybe Im remembering it wrong?
@@Ironbuket Yeah. I think it said "Not reliable over water" or something like that.
I guess the harvester could not have been worth it cost/benefit for the specific purpose of this HV:
- CPU and Generator utilization.
- Weight.
- It's simpler when building by hand on survival to just have a single Ammo Controller + Extensions (the HV Constructor should be able to use it as Input/Output).
Maybe just having a chainsaw would do the trick already?
Love the new show, good sir. Something happened to HV (some vermillion shennanigans i suppose). The green engines had way more power in them. The damaged hoverbike could drive up to 50m/s no problem and took almost every mountain and almost flew like a bird. Not anymore^^
Change 2 of the greens to blue and it should do :-)

I think the longer range for the Argos is so that they can get in a shot before you headbutt them with the chainsaw, because once you're right up against them (or e.g., Zirax Commanders), you can attack them with the saw but they can't attack you. Gears of Empyrion! :D

Hey spanj. I started on the same planet.
Take the 2nd hv engine a rcs and four thrusters. One of the second will lift 25 tons and overall it will consume way less CPU.
I don't even play empyrium but still my favorite series

Good luck increasing Polaris Rep killing predators. I started on Reforged Eden yesterday on the same planet, got a decent HV going with 2 turrets, and I've killed tons of predators in their territory and the Rep gain is barely noticeable. Only get like 2-10 pts each kill. I spent a lot of time mining stone for iron, I had copper and silicon nodes, but no iron. Took forever. Made the starter HV first, but I drilled into the side of the hill from the water level, so I didn't have to go up a ramp to get out. It was super slow on hills though. Now Im on a T2 HV. Found a cobalt node, but for the Neo I found a Polaris trader that sold Flux coils, so I had to make a bunch of ore scanners to sell to buy those. I need to see if I can find your seed, your Polaris territory looks a lot different from mine.
I'm having trouble reconciling how bad you were with getting that HV off the ground and how good so many of your build videos are...

The mechanical drill is much better than the survival tool for mining. I started on Haven just to have access to resources. I also found that my HV's max speed would constantly decline, started by being cut in half. Then when I increased the thrusters it would still slowly decline. It happens when a shift of weight or another player enters the pilot seat. I don't know if that is a vanilla or RE bug.

Overconfidence is a fast killer in Empyrion. :D food heals as well.
You could have made it out the hole, if you graduated the slope at a shallower incline.
He didnt realise at the time that the hover engines werent powerful enough and thought it was some kind of game glitch. The ramp would have needed to be about 100m long for the original design to get out, dragging itself along the floor in the process.
@@Ironbuket yeah I saw that later on right after my comment. I could have worked out the gradient and length of the slope but that's just to geeky lol. I work as an engineering technician.
@@Punkoala I havent played 1.5 yet, but in RE 1.4 I made a HV starter with the green engines on flat land and couldnt get it to move without getting stuck on even tiny bumps. Any vehicle running off just the greens has to be super light, so very limited use.
@@Ironbuket I've not started on 1.5 yet but I never use hv's for that same reason they get stopped by a twig lol. I just go straight for an sv.
@@Punkoala The probelm I have with starting fresh in RE is the base attacks are much harder. In 1.4 my starter tactic was to create a HV to be a mobile base for going around and collecting up resources to a point that I could drop down a base and defenses at the same time. Although you could go straight for a SV, it is much harder due to some SV components needing a base (or HV) constructor and that you are unlikely to be able to build a SV early on that can carry much weight.
Get your HV at an angle and tap "O" while thrusting forward. That's gotten me out of many a hole. Also, you should have had the materials for a t1 multitool and at least 1 ammo for it. throw another generator on it. Also, if you're in need of quick cash, the tahlon buy fangs and parts at a decent price.
I hear EGS now has stealth giraffe assassins that pretend to be trees in order to catch you off guard. keep a keen eye out for them Spanj!
Good to find the Polaris so early! Is that the starter zone where you built your HV or does everyone start somewhere random?

You could also use the water for protection thats how i kept alive on you starter planet.

my little hv has about 1400 storage and a fridge 2 hover engines and 4 ground pulsar engines handles like a pro even up to 10 tons

Commenters are right, you could have made a T1 multi and a charge as well as you could also reduce the # of green hovers to 1 and replace the other 4 greens with 2 blue hovers and she would still float and move.

I'm confused by getting out of the hole. Playing the vanilla game, you can raise and lower the hv. Likewise, you can go into "mining mode" and lift the vehicle quite high. Is that not in RE? Or perhaps it was added after this video was made.

@@Ironbuket The state of the HV is very different on both timestamps. Unable for me to isolate whether 'O' could have made any difference back in 22:00.
I typically build HVs underground and 'O' does the trick more often than not.
My goal is not to be a troll, just to help if possible. That doesn't mean I can't be wrong though. So chill + we are all friends here?

Have you built many HVs with only the green engines?
How in the world do you take everything out of inventories like that. You click on the dead raptor and it’s like you pop it right into your inventory.

Hover Engine CPU: 75
Using the Blue Engines/Thrusters or 1 Green and then some Blue works better.
My hv tank took that patrol vessel out faster than my sv or cv ever did haha

PvP is by mutual consent only so its PvE by default unless you declare pvp on someone and they accept
37:00 and that's the main thing that keeps me from playing Reforged. I could learn to deal with all the other changes, but the nerfs to both hover thrusters and main thrusters is too much. I struggle with building ships as it is, I don't need that extra struggle.
Once you get decent at building stuff in vanilla, I would give reforged a try. It can be a bit challenging when starting out but once you get the hang of it, I bet you never want to go back to vanilla. Personally, I make all my ships in creative (with weight, volumes, and cpu enabled) and then spawn them in. I also never build HV's early game. Useless imo. I make tiny Sv's to get around the starter planet and raid abandoned poi's
