If you follow the development of the environment in the original trilogy of games in the Rayman series, you can see how the environment became more elaborate and detailed. In addition, in my opinion, the world of Rayman in each part of the series is a chain of dreams, which seems to be confirmed by lore. And with each new part of the series, dreams are more grown up. So, in the first part of the series, the environment consists of huge odjects (food, pencils etc), as they are created by the children's mind. Thus, I believe that the realistic and darker environment in Scepter of Leptys only shows that the dreams are becoming more mature and more serious. And that's great. Keep up the good work! These environments mesh SO WELL with the ostensibly more dramatic modalities of the game as a whole! I have one suggestion, though; it would be cool if, instead of relying on Purple Lums, there were a kind of ferry system in open spaces like this to take the player from island to island. I really hope this project doesn't get abandoned. There's so much potential here, and I feel it would set a good precedent for the rest of the creative fanbase. Keep up the good work!
The ferry system sounds like taxi from Ratchet and Clank :). It might be interesting ideas. In the final game going from one island to another will be much harder than shown here. Thanks for your feedback and kind words!

First I must say that I am AMAZED by how this project turns out... as a rayfan with absolutely no knowledge on game design it feels so good to see people with such talent and knowledge fulfill a dream that Ubisoft did not want to fulfill. Simple question though, will this game retain Rayman 3's (and even 2's) humoristic tone, or will it be a more serious-oriented game? Thanks for answering !! 😁

I also really hope, that we will have a chance to meet Carmen the Whale from Rayman 2. When I first met her it was the scariest moment in a whole franchise for me cause I am really scared of big underwater creaturies in games. However it was memoriable and still makes me tremble! But even if not, the project still looks very interesting.
When i was a kid i got stuck on a level of unkillable dudes in rayman 3. It took me 4 years before i could be brave enough to complete it. Started playing when i was 8,and finished the game when i became a cool 12 year old who is not aftaid of them. My 8 year old self couldn't even move around them it was horifying
it's weird to see small trees in Rayman, in every Rayman game the trees were giant but that's the only problem I have, everything else, the world, the dream like vibe, the atmosphere, the soundtrack, everything looks like ideal Rayman 4👌
This is so cool! Honestly, I think it would be cool if the game would take advantage of the discovered prototype moveset in Raving Rabbids. So basically you can throw your first like in Rayman 3 for ranged combat and for melee combat you also have that Rayman 4 prototype stuff.

This dark athmosphere looks like that from the original Rayman 4 concept, I love it! For the sound effects I think it would be cool to use those from the beta builds of Rayman 3, like for example the pig pots and the helicopter ones to make more variety. Anyway good job! 👍🏻

I think if they would use a similar art style like Crash Bandicoot 4 or Spyro Reignited then it would fit Rayman incredibly well. I am not a developer and I really don't want to tell you how your game should look like. I'm really happy that there are people who want to keep Rayman alive. I'm just throwing a few thoughts out there. I'm just looking forward to seeing where the journey of this fangame goes.
I agree, except that I think the art-style should be something similar to Psychonauts 2 especially since that game takes inspiration from Rayman. There's already several games that have copied the Crash 4/Spyro art-style, and I think it would make Rayman look too generic if it was used, imo.
Thanks for your feedback! We will look into this, but for now I think we are quite happy with the style we choosed. We are mostly aiming for magical realism and paintarly feeling of the original games.

The Rayman feel will be always diffrent for everyone. Original games inspire us and we will try to capture their heart mixed with our own ideas.

Probably yes. For now we are using animations exported from R3 so it won't be possible for now but who knows if we won't tacke it in the future!
