I have had this unit for over a year now & I always use it; and get great results. Like everything else in life, you get out of it what you put in to it. I love that is also an audio interface and that each pedal, amp & speaker combination really gives you a completely different sound. They can only show but so much in 8 1/2 minute review.
This is exactly what I needed. The drum loops, looper, and basic effects let me practice effectively, have a good time, and work on new songs/experiment with new sounds.I don't know what everyone is complaining about. It does exactly what it claims to do and a reasonable price and it's durable. There are also plenty of videos out there of people using this thing to do all sorts of cool stuff.
If you close your eyes and stop being picky with the brand, you can actually dig some of the sounds. At the price tag, for a home guy, it's pretty good.
The RP360 / XP do really have some excellent sounding tones and more effects that you’ll really ever need, nice modulation & delay fx in my opinion. It’s possibilities with its editing capabilities are great compared with many other modellers of its time if you’re willing to spend time editing parameters to create your own tones, which many don’t like doing and just want to plug in and play expecting it to sound great immediately, but nothing will do this as we all have slightly different desires for our tones so for me it’s important with any music gear that you work with it and tweak and edit lots of parameters to create the effects and tones you really want, that’s a huge part of the fun for me truly delving under its hood and learning all areas of gear. I thing these Digitech modellers like the RP360 went under the radar and were missed by many. I recently picked up a used RP360 (No expression pedal) in decent condition for £49 in the UK, which is a bargain for what you get in there and I am very impressed with the quality of effects, it’s functionality and editing quality. For £49 I think I got a really great tool and have no complaints.
I own this pedal and love it! Is it a spot on emulation? No, but you can dial in close enough emulations that a bar crowd could care less about... and for under $200. For what it's worth, it ain;t too shabby on the home recording side too if yer mixing and mastering skills are up to snuff... just sayin'....
Ok,🤨...Now everyone has got a view point on this unit...to say the least. All Multi FX units or pedal boards are a matter of preference & choice!...to each his or her own! But the actual point of the RP360 use is to be capable of designing your own sounds thru popular FX of your liking or tastes. Tweaking is necessary for “fattening up” sounds on pedals or Amp Mods. This multi-effects unit helps one do just that if you take time to study the manual and discover what’s possible...for any set up desired. And it can help in eliminating cluster on pedal boards,..which require adequate power to function correctly & efficiently!(no hum) My only hope is that Digitech supports it quite a bit longer in firmware updates!!...even through OS changes that are coming!..(or here already)...like featuring downloads of developed Digitech flagship & other popular pedals! This could be done to keep the unit more competitive for it’s targeted market share. It works well with Digitech’s TRIO+ Looper Band Creator!!...& can share the additional foot switch FS3X!!..+ all that FX variety in one sturdy box!...good value in that. Although it’s been out quite sometime,..(must be familiar by now)...if you’ve got one,..really check out the manual,..study your FX and how they work,...TWEAK!!!..(EQ etc;)..and make your killer sounds & set up,..play your ass off & have all others wanting one too!...Rock on!🤘🏽😉🎵🎸
I own the rp360 and will say this video did not do it justice at all. I Love it and cannot say enough great things about it! In general, I love Andy's reviews, but this was not good. Conspiracy theory - if u can buy a $200 box that does 98% of what $250,000 worth of gear does, it would be game over. As a sanity-check, Andy did about 10 reviews for the Hardwire supernatural reverb and embellished the heck out of it. Some points - they are based on the same audio dna2 chip. they both cost about the same. one is just one pedal. the other has tons. If he wanted to embellish the heck out of just the fantastic sounding Lexicon reverbs in the 360 alone, u guys would go crazy. bottom-line : do not form your opinion from this one demo. look deeper and be impressed!
JonsGearLocker As with any multi effect unit, most of the presets are not gonna sound that great, but if you take the time to set up some patches of your own, it will sound awesome. Love my Rp360xp! Check out the video on my channel called “Dark Tides”, I recorded this video solely with the Digitech Rp360xp
Digitech made the best rack guitar systems in the 90s (my opinion)...such a pitty they are not there anymore. But the RP360XP is a fun tool to discover sounds.
i had the rp-12 and gsp-21 and the one vitto Bratta used maybe it was the 360 or maybe the 250 idk.. The rp-12 was mindblowing compared to the features of today.I sold it for 70 bucks..ooops..try getting all those reverse reverbs and panning flanges with control of an exp pedal now. studio quality , you'll go broke
If the GSP2101-2120 series was the pinnacle of that 90's Digitech rack era then the real problem was people didn't realise what Digitech had actually done. The GSP1101 was the upgrade from those. They digitally recreated the old tube GSP2101 preamps of the earlier stuff perfectly and added a whole heap more and IMO (that is shared by others) those are the best amp models in the GSP1101. And here's the best part. Tonally the RP360XP is the same as the GSP1101. The RP360XP was basically a GSP1101 in a compact pedal form but with one Audio DNA chip instead of two. The modelling is the same, the chip is the same, they sound the same. What's missing from the RP360XP is a effects loop, seamless patch changes, the ability to load IR's and the advanced routing options the GSP1101 has but they sound the same. So considering how many big names used the GSP1101 live, the RP360XP isn't just a fun tool to discover sounds, more than ever now, it's one of the best bang for buck pieces of gear ever made and it sounds amazing. Not that it needs IR's but the reality is an inexpensive IR pedal can take this sonically to the next level and for not a lot of money you can get a simple pedal combo that sonically is up there with anything on the market today and has some of the best effects you can find.
@@Civic.Even better you can get all these amp models and cabsim along with delay, chorus, reverb and a phenomenal room effect in the soundcraft ui mixer family. I use my rp360 with a ui12 mixer with my band for in ear monitoring. I use the cabsim of the mixer to see the eq with real time analysis. The room effect makes a perfect stereo layer. It's easier to get a good sound as with my Fractal fm3. I also added an external switch to change an effect parameter on the fly - like delay mix for solos.
It's not too terribly priced for a good practice box. I still have my old RP2000 somewhere. It sounded thin and wimpy but it served its purpose - good workhorse.
Had one. Wasn't happy with the lack of touch sensitivity. Got a POD HD Desktop which I run my small pedalboard into and am perfectly satisfied with for headphone practice.
This stomp is always tried for classic rock and stuff like that. But if u like weird music, its just so much fun, it has a Ring Modulation, a nice Whammy, a cool verbs. Just buy it, in the used market hoy can find it in 80 bucks
The amp modeling didn't jump out at me but otherwise it sounds better than older multieffects units. Great price makes it an interesting sandbox / test / toss in the trunk. The only thing I am wary of is using a PC to do edits. At some point companies abandon the product updates to be compatible with the latest OSes and then you're out of luck.
If this is based on the RP1000 tech, they really need to update it. Same goes for the multi effects pedals from Vox and Boss. I know Zoom updated their flagship not too long ago (successor to the G5, which is what I have), but I'm assuming it isn't that great because none of the professional reviewers have touched it. Boss recently released the GT1 which is based on the old tech in the GT100 but lacks it's versatility. This kind of tech ages really quickly. Personally I think these companies should either a) Bring out something new to compete with the latest generation of gear or b) Slash the prices on them before phasing them out and getting out of the multi effects game altogether. Rehashes of old gear is boring for those interested in the tech and offers poor value to new comers that can't afford/aren't willing to spend the money on a higher end unit. Just before anyone asks, I'm not personally shopping in this price bracket. My next purchase is most likely an Amplifire 12. I just think that people on a budget are getting a poor deal and being overcharged for old tech.
This unit is better than my zoom multistomp ms=70cdr. Zoom was 130bucks and it is a confusing pile of garbage. The rp360 seems more practical and more options.
Hello I bought a Multi Effects Digitech RP 360 in multi-plug in equipment: YAMAHA HR-2000 Guitar Combo Amp. Rj Bron please elaborate... what makes an effect sound digital? Also, what is so terrible about that sound? So many people say something “sounds” digital but have no idea what they’re even taking about.
plug a tube boost/overdrive preamp pedal (such as a Blackstar) before this unit n you gonna see how it can sound o_O since the digital overall sound of this unit is pretty much frustative ...Digitech sounds too thin where Boss sounds too fat IMO... but the amp sim & the cab sim r pretty good
Tried this compared to my older 350 & 355 and only slight up in features--sounds the same tonally; but my 355 is somewhat beefier than the 350, which nonetheless sounds more smooth. Oh well
We have, it appears, an identical guitar style. I am an acoustic guitarist, who cannot really use a pick reliably - but I cannot get the attack you're getting. I use a hybrid kind of strum, index fingers & thumb., which works, but you must have nails? What's your secret? Plucking with flesh only here.
Will Hill Have you tried any of their much newer stuff like their new pedals under DOD or the Polara and Obscura. I don't think they sound thin at all.
could you share your presets? i see they are very basic variation of standard ones, but i do not have cleanish - i guess i have a different firmware or something...
what's the deal with the effects? Do they sound at least as good as Line 6 HD effects? If I;m not using the amp models, just using a few effects, is this a pretty good unit for playing live? I'm imagining the distortions are no good but what about the modulations?
"The next generation of multi-effects boxes has arrived..." These "arrived" quite a few years ago now. Next generation? I love DigiTech, but these were just case of dressing up something on in new clothes so to say. DigiTech has made no great movements in the digital modeling field since the RP1000/GSP1101 units. These were just repackaged tones from those. They need to step up their game and introduce a new flagship modeler instead of practice units with old tones.
Hi, can you set up an overdrive+reverb in a single bank? I mean, by just pressing a switch you got overdrive+delay ? I'll reaaaally aprpeciatte your answer. Thanks!
Yes and no. You can easily create a to a patch where your other parameters remain the same, but both of those are activated, then switch to that patch as you play. You can't set them to a single "stompbox" control. I think the patch changes are close to instantaneous, so this might be the way to go. I haven't really tested it that way. You can only set 3 "stompboxes" at a time to the three switches, but you can have more than that active in the chain. I hope that makes sense...
This video sounds great I had this pedal straight trash! Get the line 6 pod hd 500x man!! It will blow your mind so much more flexibility than the rp 360 xp
No, not at all...You can set it into stompbox mode with just the unit, but you have to then hit two switches at once to change to the mode where you can switch patches. Then you would hit two switches again to return to stomp box mode, if you want to. It's not all that hard, but the optional footswitch is easier and more reliable...
Hans Korn ....It’s way sturdier and more versatile than the Boss GT-1...notably the Amp Modulation. You’ll spend hours exploring settings & set ups to get killer sounds that emulate cool amps of back in the day!...as well as period correct FX! But that suggested,..☝🏾🎶🎸✨try hooking up both straight into a Mixer/PA speaker system in stereo,...then run thru some patches and see for yourself!....the Digitech RP360 is a cool Multi FX pedal board all in one!..the power & clarity is killer!!!...👍🏾😆 The Boss GT-1 is nice too & convenient to use but those square switches are flimsy and vulnerable to breaking or hanging up in the box!!...(happens quite often) Plus it’s so tiny that “Big Foots” will be challenged to using the unit delicately...🤔😓 I still may own both versions;..GT-1..& GT-1B...’cause I love Boss stuff for live gigs + recording! But.. I do own the 360 though,..and I’m satisfied!... it’s killer in any application!...👍🏾🎶🎸🎛
my rp360 xp will not update and i've tried calling digitech and they told me basic trouble shooting, i tried. nothing worked. anybody willing to help in the comments?
Kley De Jong he doesn't know how to set up gear, that's the only reason someone would make a statement like this. if you run pedals after its absolutely fine.
around 03:35 - I don not understand why do we need the pedal for this kind of clean: it should come out from a good guitar amp with a good strat without any stomp box
Ymel Y Of course, but sometimes it’s easier to run a pedal like this straight to the mains. These stomp boxes are multi purpose tools, and lots of folks just run the effects through the guitar amp of their choosing. I have found that they really sound best, though, if you run them straight into a mixer. So these clean patches exist primarily for folks who aren’t using an amp at all.
I have had this unit for over a year now & I always use it; and get great results. Like everything else in life, you get out of it what you put in to it. I love that is also an audio interface and that each pedal, amp & speaker combination really gives you a completely different sound. They can only show but so much in 8 1/2 minute review.
This + Analog distortion = value

Any of the Digitech stuff is better than any of the Line 6 shit

The cleans sound pretty good to me and the dirty sound aren't horrible either. It ain't one of them fractals, but I'm sure it can get the job done.
It only has 100 000 combinations of amp models.....clearly not enough......I need at least 105 000.
I like this box for computer recording. Very tweakable and solid tones with patience.
I needed something cheap for at work so I picked this up used at guitar center. It's good enough for me at this stage.
Andy, that sounded pretty darn good, thx for sharing!

No, not at all...You can set it into stompbox mode with just the unit, but you have to then hit two switches at once to change to the mode where you can switch patches. Then you would hit two switches again to return to stomp box mode, if you want to. It's not all that hard, but the optional footswitch is easier and more reliable...
First time I've seen Andy sound bad.
Does it have TAP?
you can add digitech's footswitch for these for tap tempo.
How does this stack up against a Boss GT-1?
Hans Korn ....It’s way sturdier and more versatile than the Boss GT-1...notably the Amp Modulation.
You’ll spend hours exploring settings & set ups to get killer sounds that emulate cool amps of back in the day!...as well as period correct FX!
But that suggested,..☝🏾🎶🎸✨try hooking up both straight into a Mixer/PA speaker system in stereo,...then run thru some patches and see for yourself!....the Digitech RP360 is a cool Multi FX pedal board all in one!..the power & clarity is killer!!!...👍🏾😆
The Boss GT-1 is nice too & convenient to use but those square switches are flimsy and vulnerable to breaking or hanging up in the box!!...(happens quite often)
Plus it’s so tiny that “Big Foots” will be challenged to using the unit delicately...🤔😓
I still may own both versions;..GT-1..& GT-1B...’cause I love Boss stuff for live gigs + recording!
But.. I do own the 360 though,..and I’m satisfied!... it’s killer in any application!...👍🏾🎶🎸🎛
does still support software update?
The product is discontinued, I would not expect any updates.
my rp360 xp will not update and i've tried calling digitech and they told me basic trouble shooting, i tried. nothing worked. anybody willing to help in the comments?
You have to hit it hard with a hammer
Can I conect Digitech RP360 to PA?
Yes
For the price I would buy a Zoom G5n
I don't think this can be ran along with other pedals tho.
It may not take kindly to overdrive/distortion pedals before it, but delays/reverbs/etc. afterwards would be fine.
Why in the world not?
Kley De Jong he doesn't know how to set up gear, that's the only reason someone would make a statement like this. if you run pedals after its absolutely fine.
Would of liked to hear a good lead match so far was junk
Молодец! Пошли все в жопу!
Same as digitech has always sounded
Bonkers level of choices causes paralysis....
Not for me
Very easy to keep it simple.....for most people that is.
around 03:35 - I don not understand why do we need the pedal for this kind of clean: it should come out from a good guitar amp with a good strat without any stomp box
Its works with Android phones?
Won't be getting one of these.
7.26 he looks like fat Benedict Cumberbatch :dd
awful.
Cheesetech
I tried this pedal today, WORST pedal I have ever encountered, even the music store owner hates it.
All tones have no warmth. To clean and sterile.
sounds awful...
Sounds too digital.
Since it is digital.
If you want analogue sound you need to buy anlogue equipment.
maybe the audio streaming in 128 kbps from youtube sounds too digital in everything
It does not
Sounds digital
So sick of hearing the same old four chords played over and over again..
uck...
Digital dirt does not and will never sound good. Prove me wrong, world! I'd love if it ya did!
The new Strymon dirt pedal is proof positive of this - if Strymon can't make a good digital dirt pedal, no one can.
pdg887 it's your ears and your opinion, there's no right or wrong to prove, if you don't like it that's fine, it's your opinion.
