@@WalterTheBalteridk i find it embarrassing having to turn the dials and other levers of tripods in front of a client. this is straightforward and efficient without being clumsy
Brilliant tripod. What I’d love, is for the legs to click into an angle and stay there without having to use a spreader. Most tripods note only sets a limit to how far it spreads out with the individual legs, but can easily drop inward once you start moving them, which often is a pain when you just need to make a small adjustment, or move it from one spot to another.
I absolutely promise SmallRig I will be buying this immediately. I’ve been hunting a video tripod that can fit in a suitcase that’s also lightweight and easy to work with.
The most important part is that the legs should easily slide out even after years of use… for some reason smallrig isn’t a company I trust with such details.
check the specs it weighs 3.4kg, it's very heavy, I agree that everything else is cool , especially the 27cm size when collapsed, but it is way too heavy for me...
Damn I just bought the smallrig carbon fiber fluid head (it’s great, I also shoot on a $2000 carbon fiber set of flow tech sticks and it does almost as well for a quarter of the price) but I would have bought this if it was on the market at the time. And potato jet is a good dude. I’m sure this will be a hit.
2:15 “it’s a lot of screwing… pulling out… takes you ages” “Balancing the head…” We still talking about tripods here? 🥴 J/k this looks amazing. I’m seriously going to consider this. I love the clutch mechanism and not having to extend each let individually!
heads up your descrip says NAB 2023 if you want to switch it! i cannot tell you how hyped I am about this tripod, i have been dreaming of it for literally 10 years, when we first started weddings.
I was impressed until I saw the height. The site advertises 141cm, or 4.6 ft, or 5.5ft with the head extended. Not sure at this point. Really depends on the pricing.
Great for unlevelled terrain, but how often you use it for that situation it's a different story for every1. Great innovation no doubt, even though the Flowtech Sachtler tripod can do the same job with a locking lever, it does cost a lot more.
shit, it stick all boxes, except for one very important : maximum height. it lacks at least 20cm for me. my manfrotto 535 MPRO goes soooo high and soooo low, without the need of an extension column which looks fragile, especially since i will be putting my konova 60cm slider and FX6 on it. And i do lots of topshots using my setup, impossible here. But my manfrotto tripod is a nightmare to set... 6 levers at the bottom... I hope there will be a second version going hiher without the central collumn, because this innovtion makes me want to buy it !
That did not seem to be doing well. It still takes time and does not level easily when lifting up or going down. So what's the point if you "need practice" to get this right???
I'm never buying a product that has another videographers name on it. The same reason I would feel like an idiot buying a car that had "Jeff Gordon" written on the back, or something like that. No.
@@dmrvideoproduction I don't want to have to cover up his name with my own sticker. It's super tacky to have to do that. This is the same reason I will never buy peter McKinnon branded stuff, because I find it very tacky. Potato jet is really nice and a likeable guy. That's his talent, explaining camera stuff in a helpful and fun way. Is he a really talented filmmaker? Not particularly, from what I've seen. That's not a personal knock, just an observation. So why am I going to put someone's name on my gear, especially when it's a stupid dumb name like "potatoe jet" ? You think I want my client reading the word "potatoe jet" on my gear? It's unprofessional and it's tacky.
So ugly id rather use my flowtechs based on looks alone as when clients see the techs they think value! but it is much better than the smallrig one i purchased for 200 I personally wouldnt pay a premium for a tripod that reads potato jet on it and looks exactly like the $200 sticks. A for effort D for design for me.
Finally an influencer product that adds actual innovation.
Not just purple cables!
Agreed! I would absolutely LOVE one of these!

I really enjoy Potato Jet's energy candid videos, this product looks amazing, I have too mani tripods, but f'kit, I'll get another one!!
This will definitely be a product that will elevate SmallRig's name recognition.
You can hear in his voice how excited he is. Tank you Potato for this great product!
yes..the most genuine voice in the camera youtube world... lol
not fake at all
Gene - thank you. Not only do you make solid videos but this is something so needed; especially for run and gun docs. Will definitely be purchasing.

ok
let me know when you figure it out
They should just call it the SmallRig TriJet, makes more sense and eliminates that giant Potato Jet branding on the side
Or SmallRig Potato Clutch. 😂
Interesting! I wanna know how its done and how sturdy the mechanism is
it can hold at least one potato jet.
That's a total no-brainer. Just take my money.
check the specs it weighs 3.4kg, it's very heavy, I agree that everything else is cool , especially the 27cm size when collapsed, but it is way too heavy for me...
Wow a product that I actually look forward upgrading to!
This product is actually new in this NAB. Others are basically just upgrades but this one is 👌
I’m definitely buying this. Huge W PotatoJet!
Nice product and nice youtuber. It's nice to see potato jet coming with this news product which looks amazing

Yoooo this is so good
reinventing the tripod...
And thank goodness too because this looks like a fantastic innovation
I will stick to my 8 legged Octipod. It can go on any surface including molten lava.

I WANT!!!
Holy shit this is amazing! And I love potato jet I didn’t know he made this, haven’t seen it on his channel yet
I guess he help to market it and contribute some thoughts but smallrig is still the one behind the tripod.
dang, I'm excited for this tripod. I just hope it's not too heavy and under $1000
How much weight the legs hold?
Great work, looks awesome
Now when is the Potato Cam Cinema Camera going to arrive? After that the Potato Lens? Congrats on a good looking useful product.

Amazing innovation, but I want a smaller head and more compact size.

anyone here try it? any chance of pinching your palm in that thing?
