That's cause most of the backing vocals weren't there, John used to do em on all the choruses, the recording has them on the middle and last, Josh only did them on the last chorus. I think Josh is a decent enough guitar player but John really had him beat on backing vocals by a mile. Most of the time he covers the vocals well enough but I cant understand why he leaves them out for most of this song, I personally feel they really do a lot for this song IMO.
RHCP is my all time favourite band, but those parameters are pure shit. Music is no competition, they aren't greater for winning those shitty trophies and inductions...
