Voxy and Rarran are quickly becoming my favorite colab on TH-cam. This video is completely unhinged in the absolute best kind of way.

Wrong set to do this for Rarran, perfect set to do for content. Just confusing enough to make him have a stroke, not as confusing as a Modern Horizons set or Masters set by sheer volume of mechanics.
Voxy losing it with Rarrans choices and Rarran losing it because Voxy can't not giggle constantly is amazing synergy.

the gremlin chemistry between these two is unreal. Makes me think Rarran would be a hell of a commentator.
I feel like in most interactions, Rarran is at least 50% more gremlin than whoever he's with, but Voxy is 50% more gremlin than him, and so together they just escalate each other.

The sad thing is, Yugioh cards barely had any text on them when it first released. But it got so bad after a few years.
YGO players don't read, they have faith in the cards.
Yu-Gi-Oh players don't read their cards, they memorize their entire archetype before they start deckbuilding

Rarran introducing you was the greatest thing ever, been playing mtg since 99 and Hearthstone since it's release and feels good to meet new good content creators
as a yugioh player who doesn't know anything about either card game, im confused and scared, but at least the pain transcends each card game

@@ubadman1 Individually from a mtg players perspective and with time they are not too bad but watching a player play a bunch of them activating abilities from the graveyard, , summoning stuff from the extra deck and then ending up with a board with like 4k+ power and multiple creatures with activated abilities that counter things in like 2 minutes is hard to follow without playing Yugioh. Like a player will have no board, 1-2 cards in hand, draw one card they need and suddenly they assemble one that can win the game next or does win the game right away.
I reckon watching a player play a storm deck in mtg quickly must be the same for a yugioh player.
@@silverdeathgamer2907As a long-time yugioh player, I totally understand lmao. But there are still some players that play casually without instant win decks.
Like those that play theme decks or gimmick decks or lore decks, all fun options. Very few are viable competitively, but it's for casual play anyway. I prefer casual play because even as a yugioh player I also have disdain for 1-2 turn win decks. Hopefully people find more ways to play yugioh other than the competitive way.

wouldn't shock me if you were wrong if you mean in general instead of just MOM. I know there are some decks that plan on discarding Squee, Goblin Nabob for value and then getting it back for free just so they can discard it again. Not saying any of those decks are good though.
The chemistry between these two is insane, I would definitely watch a full series of them teaching one another how to play their respective games. After the Hearthstone video I was really hoping that the reverse would happen as well, and I am happy to see it did-MTG is like Hearthstone hard mode and I love it.

I think doing the reverse (you draft, he plays) could also be an incredible time, watching Rarran learn to play Magic in real time xD

Both of the videos were very fun. It helps playing both games. I'm not sure this will be done with you two again, but I hope so; at least with other people. It's kind of like hand and brain chess, if we don't think about it too hard.

I also just learned that hearthstone turns 10 years soon. i'm getting old =(
I played both games in the same order as he did btw. MTG Paper - Hearthstone - Magic online or what it was called and now MTG Arena. (and some other TCGs like gwent)

Second comment because this absolutely deserves it but... Firstly, in the time that I took to go to the market, send my clothes to the tailor to be stitched, take a bus to Mcd's and finish up a double quarter pounder meal, Rarran managed to get through picking ONE pack. Hahaha.

As somebody that hasn't played MTG, I just wouldn't be able to do this at all. My anxiety would kill me with how many choices there are
This is with no timer, you can take all day, or even multiple, just try to finish drafting before the event is over. (a few weeks)
Once you know what you want before drafting, doing it with the 1.5 minute timer is fine as well.
@@mawillix2018 I'm talking specifically about doing this draft for somebody else as somebody that doesn't know about MTG. The extra time wouldn't help because I don't know what's good or not
@@thefireofthefox1That's why they explain MTG terms like Prowess and such. Rarran is also not doing this with no knowledge of any card game. He's well versed in Hearthstone and the joy is trying to see how that knowledge does and doesn't translate over to MTG.
If you have knowledge of other card games like Hearthstone, Runeterra, or Yugioh then this should be more enjoyable than it is painful for you to go in blind. It also helps that Voxy is such a great partner for feedback and uplifting the general vibe.
As a hearthstone player I'm also immediately drawn to Squee, he's just a lil guy that comes back!!
This version of Squee has also seen play in Modern and Legacy, together with Serum Powder. (Squee, Goblin Nabob has seen play in Vintage)
Vintage is like Wild, no banned cards, some cards are restricted to one copy.
Legacy is like Vintage, but some cards are banned.
Modern is a non-rotating format featuring most cards released since eighth edition (2003).
I also know very little about mtg, but isnt that just kinda like dreadsteed, only that it costs mana to bring it back?
@@imoartel4134 If dreadsteed had taunt, costed 3, was a 2/1 instead of a 1/1, could return after being discarded, and silence didn't stop it from coming back.
So it's more like a 3 mana hero power giving you a 2/1 taunt (but that doesn't account for the discard synergy).
But that's not why it was run in Legacy, there's a card that gives you an extra mulligan, but the hand you had is removed from the game. After removing squee you could still play him.
It was also possible to use Squee in a 3 card infinite combo, but as it costed 6 mana to start, that seems to require a bit of a miracle, as legacy is a fast format.
There's also an older card featuring Squee. It's called "Squee, Goblin Nabob" and it would return to your hand at the beginning of your turn. It was used in Vintage as an "infinite" discard outlet.

@@AmirhanAbishev You're probably thinking about one of the zombies or skeletons that return to the battlefield from the graveyard.
One of the Squees can be cast from exile, the other one returns to hand for no cost, and have been used for exactly what they bring to the table.
Squee is not very good for sacrificing repeatedly. (Yes, I am calling you out Aluren + Squee, the Immortal + Goblin Bombardment players.)
Can't believe that Voxy failed to pilot this flawless masterpiece of a list truly shameful.
She played and made a deck with the cardpool it's in the video. Playing every card you draft is something people basically never do. And importantly, she even kept some suboptimal cards that were hyped, like Squee.

For anyone confused about what happened at th-cam.com/video/e6F9mUoqVuU/w-d-xo.html I finally figured it out. Battles don't just 'flip'. When enough damage is done you cast the back half for zero mana. If you can't legally cast the spell for some reason it just fizzles and goes to the grave. In this case Phyrexian Censor says 'players can't cast more than one non-phyrexian spell each turn'. Since the opponent already cast the invasion earlier, the Censor prevented the back half from resolving.
The dynamic between Voxy and Rarran is SO good and I'm here for it.
I'm barely in and it's hilarious seeing Voxy realize how unhinged it is to introduce non-Magic players to this expansion in particular.

As someone who has played MTG and Hearthstone almost since they started this has been amazing. I fell away from MTG for Hs when it got harder to find groups (before Arena) but I always love watching content. This is both educational on limit format drafting and maybe the funniest thing on the internet. Keep up the great work. For Squee (or Skee)! I still have a copy of an old "Squee's Toy" card as that card name always made me laugh. Maybe I'll send it to Rarran!

I just watched Rarran's video where you were rating Hearthstone cards and it's hilarious seeing your reactions now that the tables have turned. I never played MTG physically, but I started playing MTG: Arena sometime last year while still playing Hearthstone and I got some major whiplash from how much text are on some of the cards. I love Magic for it's complexity and depth and wouldn't have it any other way, but it's definitely a daunting game to be thrown into if you've been playing Hearthstone for a decade where most cards have like 4 lines of text max.

i've been here for 15 minutes and i already adore this dynamic; you in rarran's video came across as very "i have no idea what's going on but i'm doing my best and i'm having a good time". rarran here seems absolutely. MORTIFIED. my man is terrified and it's endearing as hell.
This vid inspired me to draft in Arena myself. Started a quick draft and... won 7 matches for the first time. Won every game where I had BMTH's latest on loop and lost every other one.

For those interested, I got a double strike 2/2 that turns first strike on other creatures in my first pack and saw a first strike creature in the same one. Got 2 and 3, I think, respectively. Later ran into a 2 mana creature that gives equipped creatures double strike when attacking, which was great, since I was building equipment for flying and extra damage on the double strikes, and a 3 mana creature that generates 3/1 tokens each combat based on the amount of equipment on it. Got some exile and enchantment removal for big threats and I was set.
I haven't finished watching yet, but I'm rolling with laughter. This is funny af.
