2007 Mazda 3 AT (automatic transmission) light is on

- My mazda 3's AT light periodically turns on when I start the engine. Specially after a cold start. It then shakes when shifting from park to reverse or drive. Sometimes while driving, the AT light turns off and the car shifts normally again. When the AT light turns on. The car does not shift normally and the torque and acceleration is weak. Do you have an idea on what may be wrong?
My problem ended up being a broken TCM(Transmission Control Module). I took it out of the car, sent it to a professional to fix it. Then put it back inside. It cost me about $270. @@karlduckett I have a mazda 3 2004 hatchback. I don't have a tcm, but a pcm i changed the pcm and nothing changed is it the transmission?
The car's indicates that the AT light means Automatic Trans-axle. The transaxle works as a differential does on a rear wheel drive car, but for front wheel drive cars instead. I have the same car and I have had the same symptoms that you're experiencing. I had a really bad axle problem and had to have both axles replaced. once replaced the shifting problem along with the torque loss was also went away but slowly came back. Bad transmission fluid seems to be my issue. You also want to replace it as indicated by the manual. However; I am steering down the barrel of a new transmission or a complete rebuild. Knowing myself, a rebuild to me means replacing all internals and externals. (Hub and wheel bearings, both axles, transmission mount both upper and lower.) Anything that plays a role with the cars drivetrain. I might even throw in a new torque converter if the transmission repair guy deems it.
I have a bad axel like its clicks when I turn and i drive it around but the light only came on when i liked slowed down can it be the axle that’s causing it because i scan the car and got not codes or nothing
I have the same problem, to ne honest I have zero knowledge when I bought my car (2nd hand) and I thought it's just normal that AT is displayed since it is set to automatic mode. But im driving it for more than 6 months already and not getting any problem so far.
Damn this is me right now. Bringing it to the shop this weekend.

I have this problem now but I think it's my tire like it's wobbly. And the 4 gear shift it really bad sometimes
You need to replacing the Transmission Control Module (TCM).

I have the same problem with Mazda 3 sport 2007. No signs of any issues. Just came out the next morning with the AT light on will reverse but won't go forward

That's pretty much what my car is going. It actually reverses but won't go forward. This was out of the blue because I've never had any signs of trouble.
Check tranmission OBD2 code, could be one of solenoids not turning on.
So when it was in drive it just didn't move? What was the problem?
It could be that solenoid valves are functioning. ..change the atf and filter, check and test the solenoids and replace if not functioning. It will work unless its the tmc that is not working.
Did anyone find the fix for only going into reverse?
Typically the problem leads to TMC (Transmission Control Module) or Shift Solenoids
So what's if codes say shift solenoid 2 stuck.. so I replaced all of them.. car still does this same thing.. should I replace this TMC part? Before giving up?
I would. Just to see if maybe that would solve the problem.
Check your transmission fluid

Yes but not all time.
First check transmission fluid ,if it's dark change it but I'll advise changing the transmission shift solenoids if you changing the transmission fluid. NOW IF IT DRIVE FINE IT COOL BUT IF DAYS LATER THE PROBLEM come back check the fluid and if it's dark that's signs of a burnt up transmission. Mazda 3 automatic transmission do not holdup long. Normally the transmission go before the engine. Also keep in mind the transmission fluid need to be changed bout every 3months

Fr my transmission on my 2011 3 made it to 156k miles never changed to r fluid. Looking at a 4k+ repair bill but it’s worth it

He told me that it needs a new transmission but I don’t trust him , should Just buy the computer and install it myself because he wants $2500 to replace the transmission

Happened to me once but it went through a s setting period not drove much. One owner car. I rest the car using the ignition key only. Went away car now drove every day now all good 👍🏻
I have same problem face on my car mazada 3 2007 I was change oil and filter for gear but same problem at light coming singe after car still on 4 gear when I off car then again start then it's k for 2 minutes then again same problem
I see your tire pressure sensors are on, get some aftermarket sensors, have them reprogrammed for the car and throw out the old ones after reprogramming the new ones or keep them for future if programming should be needed. That oil filter is BS compared to other cars, but have the filter changed and put some fresh oil in there and that should take care of all the lights on in your car.
I’m having the same issue yall ! I’ve been driving it like that because it’s my only transportation but it’s SO dangerous ! So let’s say I turn on my car, light is off, then I drive it a bit and it kind of brakes super quick and slows down to 5 miles per hr or sometimes it dies. Sometimes I have to keep pushing the gas and it’s a constant go and brake by itself 😭 or sometimes when it doesn’t go I just have to stop turn it off and on.
I already got a new transmission computer and still nothing 😭💔 that thing costs me about 700 dlls ! And still nothing , any other suggestions ?
That sounds like something completely different from the transmission. Might actually be an issue with the engine? Don’t take my full advice I might not be right.
@@astridgonzalez6099 Did you fixed the problem? You wrote that four months ago. Please, let me know. I found that disconnecting the battery resets the system. Also, the battery cable needs to be real tight; a loose cable can cause this problem.
Get your throttle body clean out

Dude I have the same issue, and that happened for the first time frs. This is the first time i had issues with my car tbh
Sometimes it's the throttle body, if it's to dirty I will cause the transmission to shift way weird. Replaced mine and it got way better but still a little off though.

So got away after changing the transmission oil turns out it was black but the light still comes on sometimes but still drives noo check engine light now nothing drives like normal it can be a sensor for me id idk or probably ny axle bc its bad also need to change it asap

On any car you have if you come across any transmission problem simply disconnect the battery for 5 min and re connect. This will restart the computer for the whole car and it will be back to normal TEMPORARILY.
Had the same problem. I did the exact thing but didnt work.
Facts took me a while to understand why the "AT" kept popping up but I disconnect the battery and walla. But I will say it has something to do with the computers
Change the Shifter solenoid
@hayms7587 I will definitely look into that AT light keeps popping up I usually got to let the car idle or put it in drive with the break held down and give it a couple light revs until the car start tugging a little that's how I get mines to go with out no computer problems but I will effectively look into that what you spoke of

Replace the TCM and you are good to go....

Same here, TCM , Solenoid pack, still comes up when its cold ,I have to pull a side and restart the car. I promised my No more Mazda crap anymore. Now, the only way to get rid of the car is trade it in one day ...
Check out the transmission fluid my was very low when the light came on
I was about to junk the car and get my daughter a new one and my brother-in-law check the transmission fluid the fluid was very low put fluid in it it drives like a new car but the AT light is still on
i have the same problem but with a mazda 5, if is really cold it will turn the AT light but if i let it warm a little and turn it off and the on again it will go away
I am having this problem now, and it all came back to the TCM
I read codes it said shift solenoid a so i replaced the shift solenoid new filter and fluid still the same when i put it in gear it shifts harx in reverse or drive ade drives good just cant go past 3rd gear soreplaced both shift solenoids and new fluid and it's still doing the same thing I guess i I'm going to replace the tcm

Change tcm and check may be you will not face this issue
You ca reset your TCM and replace your oil filter. I have also the same problem

my 2011 light came on and it turned out to be a bad TCU module. I took it to the dealer and they warrantied it ...I didn't pay a thing. I'm sure your car is fixed now but that's exactly what happened to my mazda. The dealer fixed that plus my dash which was coming apart and also my shaky seat...all defects and covered by mazda.

Maybe it’s the ecu that needs to be replaced
Mine is doing same after a new Gear Box was put in.Turns out on mine its a "Speed sensor issue" cheapest part of all the problems these mazda 3 have.
Good way to see if Box is ok drive in manual mode if changing up and down ok its electrical not a faulty box.
Get a good mechanic to see what code comes up on a scanner.
@Gyem Tshering its hard to answer what if they are genuine or not. My mechanic hooked up computor and it told him it was the speed Sensor. Do the mechanics your dealing with offer a warranty?

If you loose oil, your tranmission can burn out very quickly. Find leak asap especially around pan or bearing areas like torque converter or transmission shaft seals.

Jeff Dallaire what year is your car? mine is a 2011 and had the same issues. I took it to dealer and even though I was out of warranty through Mazda they fixed it for free because its a defective issue.
Mine it a 2010 i flush my transmission .. i still have the at light come i think it my tcm lost communication when i drive
