That's th Queen Mary. The orignial Queen Elizabeth burned in a fire while in Dock. After the fire the QE was reborn in 2011 as a Modern Ocean Liner. QM2 is the second Ocean Liner under the QM name.
Disney Cruise Line yes the Original QE dates back during the 1930s same time as the Original Queen Mary which is docked in Long Beach. The QE was longer than the QM and after service QE was sold off by Cunard to a Private Company where it was turned into a Sailing School. And well QE’s faith turned into disaster when she was put on fire. Look it up. The QE that we have today is the 2nd Liner to bare the QE Name. So it’s Queen Mary, Queen Elizabeth 1930s then Queen Elizabeth 2 in 1967 then 2004 Queen Mary2 then in 2010 Queen Elizabeth.
I call it a draw; Liz had a wonderfully commanding deep hooter in the Queen Mary vein, but Vic's is certainly intriguing, perhaps even pretty. Great fun, anyway, thanks for sharing!
I've been lucky enough to blow the whistles of both Queens here (and QM2 as well). QE2's is amazing, but QV's is surprisingly throaty. They remain my favorite 2 Cunarders (QM2 a close third)
Never Heard Two Class Oceanliners Saying Goodbye. I Guess There's A First Time For Everything. To The QE2, There'll Never Be Another Superliner Like Her.
There isn't an ocean liner blast in the world that compares to the deep, majestic sound of the QE2!! The long blast of an ocean liner's siren is one of the most beautiful sounds in the world!!
Bloody Hell, my favorite, the QV lost :( Awwww well, I hope the QE can blast you away. I'm saving up to go on the QV or QE in a few years time. Good video, this is going straight into my favs.
I went to Zeebrugge as well but I went on Aurora sailing to and from Southampton. And we sped past Oceana on the way and we could not have a go at her because she was docked. Aurora was a great ship. We were the only boat to be scheduled to dock and there was container ships and ferries from Hull. Sadly, there was no other cruise ships in. What a voyage I had! I can't wait to get on Oriana in three months to Norway and the Arctic Circle.
Nah! No contest! I remember when I first heard the QE2 horn standing on the upper deck. Nearly fainted from the blast!! No wonder they're laughing here. QE2! QE2!! A legend never to be forgotten.
It's not entirely communication. The 3-horn blast is a signal that the ship is departing. As the QV is already pushing away from the dock, this is obviously a game between the skippers (which is itself a common practice among passernger ships)
Everything about the Icky Vicky is disappoiting..right down to the horn. Mr. Arison's bargain basement approach to the Icky is evident right down to the horn. Those moths in his wallet really must be gasping for air!
QM2 has one whistle from Queen Mary (1936) . The other whistle is a reproduction made by the same company who made the 1936 whistle. These whistles have been slightly 'off' since QM2 was brand-new a/one sounding ahead of the other. The 'steam' also only works in one of the whistles. Having sailed on BOTH ships several times, I can say that QE2s whistle is far more impressive.
@joseph299 Listen to how long they're holding it out. This isn't solely communication... this is the captains having fun... and like @cholliday666 said, it's a final goodbye. Yes, captains ARE allowed to have fun, ya know.
I was on the Queen Victoria that day, it was great! I went on the QE2 in 2005, so it was great to see the old girl again in 2008. The Queen Victoria look less elegant from the outside, but is much more impressive from the inside. I will always miss the QE2, I hope they make a good job of her in Hong Kong!
it is not horn wars .. that is rules of international rules .. all ships should horn 3 long signals while anchor and will leave harbor and another understand that ship leaves to port .. and 1 short horn for ok at the end .. and different signals for everything on sea ..
Well QE2 lover QM2 horn is louder and so epic it has a deep horn while qV2 has the same horn as queen Mary but a bit higher tone and some people say that QE2 horn sounds like a fart because there was this video about QE2 doing a horn battle against AIDABLU and in the comments section of that video I saw 2 people say that the qe2 horn is like a fart and the people said AIDABLU won the horn battle
Lol I live in southampton, home of cunard, and ive never heard them have a horn battle as long as that before, even so im sooooo missing hearing QE2 blast its horns in the evenings now lol!
That's pretty damn funny, I am going on a cruise 1/31/11 from New Orleans to both Progresso and Cozumel Mexico, can't wait, it is on the Carnival Triumph, should be awesome
@cholliday666 yeahh budy, the different number and lengths of horn blasts means something to other ships. but it still sounds AWESOME! thanks for the great upload
@Frost770 obviously it's not the quickest form, but it's a traditional form of communication, as a nod to history. It would be sort fo hollow to go "well mate, have fun with your new ship" over a radio.
@joseph299 Two ships sitting at dock facing each other, well within shouting distance, let alone radio distance... That's right, they're really trying to communicate here rather than put on a show and have a little fun... Perhaps you could enlighten us all as to what the messages are that are being sent?
QE2 was just recently sold to private investors in China and will be leaving Dubai in Sept for Hong Kong and the Singapore where she'll be refurbished into a luxury hotel.
@cholliday666 Its not so much the cost of modernising her its more the fact that as she gets older she costs more to repair, And because the hull is aluiminuim you can't maintain it easily. The fact that she burned oil in a high preasure boiler system which snorts fuel. And as it costs more and more to fill'er up its just not economial to run her anymore :(
They were saying a permanent goodbye to each other. I hadn't realised at the time, but it was the last occasion on which the two ships were together.
wait rlly?
@@Jayden-rq9ti yes, QE2 was retired to Dubai later on.
@@elit2175 yes
I have to admit the QV was pretty good in this horn battle lol She responded to every QE2 honk so applause to both👏🏼
Let's just say QE2 wins this. Got to love that deep tone of the QE2. Really miss the old QE2
@travis cyrien the first QE2 now lays as a hotel in California long beach
That's th Queen Mary. The orignial Queen Elizabeth burned in a fire while in Dock. After the fire the QE was reborn in 2011 as a Modern Ocean Liner. QM2 is the second Ocean Liner under the QM name.
@@TravisCyprien Wait what, the original QE burnt? I thought she was still a ship..
Disney Cruise Line yes the Original QE dates back during the 1930s same time as the Original Queen Mary which is docked in Long Beach. @@TravisCyprien Oh that makes sense now, thanks
what a brilliant contest I love the sound of those horns many thanks.
Lol, I love the way QV responds to EVERY single one of QE2's honks. (Even in that same way!!)
Disney is here lol
I call it a draw; Liz had a wonderfully commanding deep hooter in the Queen Mary vein, but Vic's is certainly intriguing, perhaps even pretty. Great fun, anyway, thanks for sharing!

The QE2 horn would be a great ringtone.
I agree
Never Heard Two Class Oceanliners Saying Goodbye. I Guess There's A First Time For Everything. To The QE2, There'll Never Be Another Superliner Like Her.
That's the coolest thing I've ever heard.. A big Hats off too the CUNARD QUEENS and their beautiful voices and song!!!!!❤👍👍👍👍👍
There isn't an ocean liner blast in the world that compares to the deep, majestic sound of the QE2!! The long blast of an ocean liner's siren is one of the most beautiful sounds in the world!!
But QM2 horn is so better than QE2 horn
this is how ships have a conversation with each other
Bloody Hell, my favorite, the QV lost :(
Awwww well, I hope the QE can blast you away.
I'm saving up to go on the QV or QE in a few years time.
Good video, this is going straight into my favs.
@fred gilmore about some people says queen Elizabeth won
The video is hilarious I have been on a cruise on the carnival splendor!
QE2 has such a beautiful voice.
I went to Zeebrugge as well but I went on Aurora sailing to and from Southampton. And we sped past Oceana on the way and we could not have a go at her because she was docked. Aurora was a great ship. Just wait until you meet queen Mary 2 her horns are so loud and make your whole body shake
@206rydah That too, but spend enough time in a port and thats how ships communicate as well, with their tugs and other ships in their vicinity
It's not entirely communication. The 3-horn blast is a signal that the ship is departing. As the QV is already pushing away from the dock, this is obviously a game between the skippers (which is itself a common practice among passernger ships)
is this some kind of ritual between cruise ship captains?
Yep! 3 times when leaving and entering port, extra ones like this if it's a special meeting (as it was the last time QV and QE2 would ever meet)
Everything about the Icky Vicky is disappoiting..right down to the horn.
Mr. Arison's bargain basement approach to the Icky is evident right down to the horn.
Those moths in his wallet really must be gasping for air!
What fun & memory for all!! Qm2 is so majestic..sailed in her 3 times & hope in future Transatlantic...thanks for sharing this special moment!
aaawww that was so wholesomee! both hanging out and having a conversation :( for the last time, sadly :,(
It feels like the two ocean liners are having a conversation
we were there - QE2 won hands down - a magnificent deep horn
I never knew that - Queen Victoria's whistle smokes when sounded.
chrisr19897 It's steam, the classic steam whistle.
Dat QE2 reverb doe.....
both beasts are ready for battle.
QE2 gots the beats man
@joseph299 Listen to how long they're holding it out. This isn't solely communication... this is the captains having fun... and like @cholliday666 said, it's a final goodbye. Yes, captains ARE allowed to have fun, ya know.
Just like men, "mine's bigger than yours." And then they go to war. Funny vid though. I hope to sail in a ship like that some day.
I was on the Queen Victoria that day, it was great! I went on the QE2 in 2005, so it was great to see the old girl again in 2008. Matthew Chamberlain it’s in Dubai, the original queen Elizabeth was in Hong Kong but it burnt down and sunk
okay, i forgot to remove my headphones before playing this!!
btw was that a type of message exchanged between the two ships or was it just like that?
it is not horn wars .. that is rules of international rules .. all ships should horn 3 long signals while anchor and will leave harbor and another understand that ship leaves to port .. and 1 short horn for ok at the end .. and different signals for everything on sea ..
Victoria's and QM2's horn is no way in the same league as the QE2.

0:00 All glory to the Hypnotoad!!!!
LOL
really didn't think about that. its indeed a sad goodbye
Now we cam proof QE2 Ships Horn Is Just An Average Ringtone!
i played the pipes at the QE 2 last year when it was leaving greenock for dubi :)
playing at the QM2 this year aswell
Lol I live in southampton, home of cunard, and ive never heard them have a horn battle as long as that before, even so im sooooo missing hearing QE2 blast its horns in the evenings now lol!
The Port Of Liverpool will rise again
You have been warned southampton
Absolutely brilliant stuff :)
that year QE2 is not yet become a hotel in dubai
It is sad that bolth Queen Elizabeth II’s are gone but maybe Cunard will make a King Charles III someday
disney's big red boat horn is just a musical horn. no power behind it.
heard he QE2 blow her horn leaving port in Greenoch for the last time sent shivers down spine
I love QE2's horn, sad that I'll never hear it in our port again
That's pretty damn funny, I am going on a cruise 1/31/11 from New Orleans to both Progresso and Cozumel Mexico, can't wait, it is on the Carnival Triumph, should be awesome
Im doing training to become a deck officer...this puts my mind at ease
The last minute was worth waiting for.
bear grylls and chuck norris having an airhorn battle :D
dont the ships have radios most people would say but blowing horns is way more fun.
wow, this is great. mighty voices
how exciting so its like sort of a queen elizabeth rap battle,,, nice
And here we have the mating-song of two cruise ships at their local nesting grounds :)
The residents we are not so much happy 😂😂
@joseph299 I think they have radio's now a day's.
@JITHINCHERIAN the one we can see in front is victoria
absolutly great
Thanks for the info ZeroGal5. The rest of the horn meanings would be really interesting.
@cholliday666 yeahh budy, the different number and lengths of horn blasts means something to other ships. but it still sounds AWESOME! thanks for the great upload

disney horn ultimate win!
qe2: *horn blast*
Queen Victoria: u wanna fight huh?
@joseph299
You are right man! I am a 3rd Engineer Officer on a cruise ship and 3 blow of horn means engine astern...
Love QE2’s horn, Queen Victoria did well but in my opinion QE2 the best.
my fave ship is Queen Mary coz shes very repetitive & she will respond to any of her 2 sisters QV &QM2(younger-ship)
That's Priceless Stuff......
I WAS ON THE HERALD OF FREE ENTERPRISE a week before it sank, i went to zebrugge, with my girl friend, very sad that was,
nice horns i fan van cruise ships
@dappstarr OMFG i love that movie!!! but its alittle higher than that
QE2 is the best
this is the sound when chuck norris was born
the queen elizabeth has the best horn, while the Titanic has the best whistle.
Should of been queen Mary 2 has the best horn
thank you
Backwards, both of them? So they are leaving the same time?
@Dooglesman Look at the video QM2 vs QE2 video and you'll see QM2 is actually lauder, I never thought that would be.
@joseph299 Two ships sitting at dock facing each other, well within shouting distance, let alone radio distance... That's right, they're really trying to communicate here rather than put on a show and have a little fun...
Perhaps you could enlighten us all as to what the messages are that are being sent?
QE2 had the best sounding horn of recent passenger ships-deep and powerful. In comparison Queen Mary 2s sounds off as does Queen Victoria's.
rolf harris playing his didgeridoo again!
It's just like cats fighting and talking to each other
Thanks.
A ship that has my name
a whole new kind of pissin' contest
QE2 was just recently sold to private investors in China and will be leaving Dubai in Sept for Hong Kong and the Singapore where she'll be refurbished into a luxury hotel.
The Qe2 horn was the best horn as it is a real ship, not some Carnival Junk
@joseph299 i think they use a radio nowadays!
Awesome!!!
I really want that one on my car
I think QE2 is the longest horn
The world's biggest didgeridoo!!
Is Queen Victoria really 13 years old now?
Probably they used pressurized steam from the boilers
1:09 i heard the darth vader song...
1:09
@cholliday666 Its not so much the cost of modernising her its more the fact that as she gets older she costs more to repair, And because the hull is aluiminuim you can't maintain it easily. The fact that she burned oil in a high preasure boiler system which snorts fuel. And as it costs more and more to fill'er up its just not economial to run her anymore :(
now who wins that then
I wonder how a semi truck horn would compare to these giants
Hey kids, can you say Tinnitus? Can you say Tinnitus? I SAID CAN YOU SAY TINNITUS!?!?!?
warbling warbling warbling warbling.
