It's part of the his training strategy. The kid is now playing rubber. Read the sentence carefully.." his QUESTfor the first ever Olympic gold medal"... this video is just the first phase of his training. He's now 11 years old, only two years of training... he has a lot more to learn.

They say that he will be an olympic champion but hardbats are not allowed in the olympic games . Those rackets have grippy rubbers like butterfly or donic etc and their feel is different . These are sandpaper rackets have very less grip.

This is totally different in Olympic game and game held by International Table Tennis Federation. People playing in these games must have rubber (which generate spin and speed) on both side or one side (Japanese penhold). You are misleading people.....

Ajlay used sandpaper coz it was required in world championship of pingpong in London. But now he uses the rubber to prepare in national and international tournament. He knows how to use sandpaper and rubber
. He defeated 10 filipino who competed in London using sandpaper.

ItsDarkSun yeah why didn't anyone taught me that, I've literally been told by everyone that table tennis and ping-pong are the same. I just hate that misconception, even I fell victim to it.

He's really good. But there are hundreds of (if not thousands of) Chinese kids at same age are as good as or better than him.
