I have been abandoned to the wolves by a math prof who has given us far too little information in this online class with an online text book to find my way to understand any of these things. You are a saint and I can't tell you how much I appreciate this.
MR. Organic Chemistry Tutor, thank you for a solid explanation of Exponential Growth and Decay Word Problems in Precalculus. These are real world problems that has a direct impact on everyday life.
Here I am at 1am doing math, hell yeah 08/04/23 it has been 2 years, I am currently in university revisiting this video at 2AM. I haven't changed in the fucking slightest
What if we are not given a rate? e.g.: The number of bacteria in a culture decreases according to a continuous exponential decay model. The initial population in a study is 320 bacteria, and there are 240 bacteria left after 7 minutes.
Lucian Galev That means you would have to do 240=320(1-r)^7 and then get r by itself to find the rate. The next steps are pretty straight forward from there. I know I’m late but I’m just saying 😬
Excellent video!! thanks so much! :) I just have one question, how do you enter the division for the last problem, log[5x10^6]/4log3 in a TI-84 Plus Calculator?...
I know you asked this a long time ago but it might help someone else... Either method is valid but to use your suggested equation you must first calculate the value of k. The method used here is quicker.
For the last question you could just simply take log3 of 5x10 to the power of 6 then you would get 14,04 then you need to divide it by 4 in order to take it from 1 hour to 15 min, just a short way...
I’m confused don’t you do the exponent first? Like before u multiply so wouldn’t you do the (1.08)^15 and then multiply that by 1000? Can someone explain
how did you get this number at 3:28 shouldn't the number be way bigger. to clarify i multiplied 40,000 by 0.93 and got 37200 then since with exponents you multiply it by it's self 9 times it's a huge number so why is your's small.
This is funny because im actually watching in 2020 but in a couple hours its gonna be 2021 so i found this video just before it was too late - Dec. 31, 2020
Sorry. I am a little confused. I thought exponential growth and decay of a population is when we apply the formula of A(t) = A* e^kt. Why we can't apply this formula. What is the difference?. And I think this is most for Compound interest. Thank you
ur video is very helpful, thank you for that. Also I dint get the part in the third example about the future and present and then the past was present and the future te past.....just asking the questions for other viewers like me I hope I'm not the only one LOL
Tomorrow is my final exams for the first semester! If I passed it, I’ll thank you so much! Edit: Honestly, I didn’t understand this but with this vid, it seemed easy on ya boi.
you can also put a as the present value for 225000. and u can do the time 13 months as negative to show going back 13 months in the past. u will get the exact same value.
can you help me answer these? At the beginning of the year, a wildlife area that is 1,000,000 ha in size has a population of 90 Brown bears with a per capita growth rate of 0.02. It's estimated that brown bears need a territory of about 10 km2 per individual (note: 1 km2 = 100 ha). Use this information to answer the following questions. a. What is the density of brown bears in this wildlife preserve currently? b. What is the carrying capacity of the preserve? c. What is the population growth rate for this year?

Same situation i'm currently in ..... SMH
Same situation here!
ah yes, It seems every year we got prof who just does this from across the country and world... -_-
His name must go down in HISTORY!!!
I love how you start with simpler problems and slowly move towards the harder ones and your sooo cleearrr. Tysm!
There's officially 3172 rabbits here the day before their exam.
Jesse Milewitz and this ones crying over fricken math
😂
Who's here the day before their exam?
yessir
My test is next hour my dude. Pray for me cuz I need it. Bless
My test is today
ᕼᗩᗰᘔ how did it go?
Exactly 😂
I love how I get all these adds about not doing exactly what I'm doing
Dave Han same its a break
Did you understand yourself before we can understand what you saying lmao
Your first bacteria example was extremely helpful. Thank you so much.
Thanks
Do we need to represent b=1+r?
@@hendryxcapino3998 only if it is an exponential growth, if it is a decay we can just subtract by 1 instead. (1 - r)
@@TheOrganicChemistryTutor hi
The last one give me migraine bc I don’t know where to get 10^6 / My thoughts, 500m divided by 8100 = exponent
Thank you so much!!!! I’m stuck in quartine without a tutor! I’ve tried khan academy and it was so confusing! You’ve made it look so easy ❤️❤️
i started with that but i dont go near it anymore for the same reason,it confuses me alot.
I came here because I spent almost all day trying to understand exponential growth from khan academy as well
MR. Organic Chemistry Tutor, thank you for a solid explanation of Exponential Growth and Decay Word Problems in Precalculus. These are real world problems that has a direct impact on everyday life.
Thank you so much for this tutorial!!! I really helped me prepare for the PSAT!!!

Problem at 3:45 was so helpful! Thank you so much man
Thank you so much, Im super tired and Now I can finally go sleep haha
IKR I’ve been studying all day for a test
I love this feeling
Me too
Your formulas are so much more simple than the (1+r/n)^nt I'm being asked to do in my class.
Love your videos! Honestly you've been teaching it better than my teacher! Thank you! 🙏
This is EXTREMELY helpful. Thank you so much
Ad: Are videos from 2016 really helping
Me: watching this video saying yes proudly (skips ad)
My glorious king Organic Chemistry Tutor
Thanks man! I was tired and stuck on this.
THANK YOU SO MUCH I WAS STUCK ON A MATH ASSIGNMENT FOR 3 HOURS CAUSE I COULDN'T FIGURE THIS OUT!!!
Aint no way 9:08 was the exact question on my test, im so glad i watched this video
I know, right ✅️
Had no idea how to calculate exponential decay and my math textbook didn't explain it either despite having one in its assignments! Thank you so much!
THIS HELPED SO MUCH THANK YOU
In 2024, I can indeed guarantee that this exact car costs $20,816.44
Indeed
Last year of high school is killin me
But this is making it 10x easier
THANK YOU
What if we are not given a rate?
e.g.: The number of bacteria in a culture decreases according to a continuous exponential decay model. The initial population in a study is 320 bacteria, and there are 240 bacteria left after 7 minutes.
The Question was how many are there 18 minutes after?
then the rate is just 1
Lucian Galev
That means you would have to do 240=320(1-r)^7 and then get r by itself to find the rate. The next steps are pretty straight forward from there. I know I’m late but I’m just saying 😬
Ryan Chandra
You can’t assume the rate because then it won’t give you 240 bacteria leftover.
@@dummy8306 thanks
2021 and still so helpful !! by the way my exam is tomorrow :D
thank you sooo much it helped me a lot with my calculus course
Being in 2020 now I can confirm there are 3172 rabbits on that island I counted them myself
Thanks ,you are better than 👉other tutors 👍🤘
This helped me so much, Thank you.
This is getting me through the quarantine
THANKS MAN THIS IS A GREAT HELP
Excellent video!! thanks so much! :) I just have one question, how do you enter the division for the last problem, log[5x10^6]/4log3 in a TI-84 Plus Calculator?...
Watching this instead of my algebra teachers lesson which is 60 minutes long and wasted my time
My math teacher just talks about big foot so I just stopped going and now use u as my math teacher thank you
Wow
😂
That is extremely helpful! Thank you very much
i like how when i went to this video for my online algebra class, there was an ad saying "What? still looking at youtube for math help?"
Ty for this tutorial Organic Chem.
Kuss geht raus mein Sohn gut erklärt
thank you very much. the problems are very well explained, and helped me relearn the subject quickly
why didnt you use y=ae^kt? for the first problem
Chansonida because he’s not gay
I know you asked this a long time ago but it might help someone else... Either method is valid but to use your suggested equation you must first calculate the value of k. The method used here is quicker.
Chansonida it wasn’t continuous growth
macka71 isn’t k just .08
You just saved my exam thank youuuuuu
This video it's really helpful for SAT
For the last question you could just simply take log3 of 5x10 to the power of 6 then you would get 14,04 then you need to divide it by 4 in order to take it from 1 hour to 15 min, just a short way...
Thanks for getting me an A on my quiz in algebra 2
So basically decay is exponential decrease right?
Growth increases - Decay decreases, but this won't benefit you anymore lol been 10 months
Gotta finish this before 11:59 on canvas
I love this guy so much.
I’m confused don’t you do the exponent first? Like before u multiply so wouldn’t you do the (1.08)^15 and then multiply that by 1000? Can someone explain
he did bro...he did

Please idont know this point
it really helped me thanks a lot
Do you have a video taking up questions like the last one you did?
i may find the last few helpful for algebra 2 thank you

We simplified it

Lmao at 1:37 who heard the crunch, but besides that the vid really helped
Who’s here a few hours before their test
Your John problem was really good. I felt like i was Johnny Johnny. :)
great vid
i know right
Thanks man!
Greetings from the year 2020
im confused at the last question, isnt it 5x10^8? to get 500 million? or am i doing something wrong. Hope you can reply
Why do you add 1?
Tomorrow is my final exams for the first semester! If I passed it, I’ll thank you so much!
Edit: Honestly, I didn’t understand this but with this vid, it seemed easy on ya boi.
did you pass?
Thanks bro👍👍👍
where did the 1 come from 0:57
It's prob too late but the 1 is part of the equation given
Oh also you either add the precent or subtract depending on your question
Thank you Khan academy !it was very helpful. Please upload more .
If u haven’t plz make one on how to find the rate
2:57 am now and preparing for the test at 12:30 today
for the third example with the house you can just make the exponent -13 for 13 years ago instead of 13 years from now and it still works
Thanks! With this method should I use the growth or decay equation?
Bro is actually saving me from failing online school which I genuinely hate ngl
hey, why not write the equation with (1+) when its the bacteria part where it starts to increase throughout the time
you can also put a as the present value for 225000. and u can do the time 13 months as negative to show going back 13 months in the past. u will get the exact same value.
Thank you so much
can you help me answer these?
