    I own the 1.2 litre version of this car, same spec. These i10s are very well engineered, even opening the doors require a bit of an effort. Highly recommended. Piece of cake to drive and cheap to run.

      We do like it, sir! It's probably one of the most sensible cars I have reviewed on the channel, but the big surprise was the way it drove, which was surprisingly entertaining. Definitely highly recommended!

    I have won a 65 plate the 1.2 version, premium SE, top spec, with £30 road tax, , my second car is a Fiat 124, on a 18 plate

      I have a 1.2 coming up on the channel at some point, actually! I have also now tried removing the section of the video where the audio failed. Bit of a contrast with a Fiat 124, I would imagine...

    I own a ‘19 Reg 1 litre Play edition. Cracking car, my 5th i10 since 1998, very well made and cheap to run. Regularly achieve 45mpg around town, up to 58mpg on a run.

      Thank you ever so much indeed for watching and commenting! Did you mean that you had an Atoz/Amica originally? I don't think that the i10 came out until around 2008. Certainly agree that this generation of i10 is really, really good!

    Great all round car, full size spare wheel brilliant. Must be a 1st place contender for 2021 sensible second hand reviews

      Yes sir! We have had A LOT of really sensible cars on the channel recently, so it's going to be quite hard to choose, but this is a real contender for the most sensible of all.

    Thanks for the review Joseph. As you say for a 1.0 litre performance isn’t bad. Whilst there is a lot of hard black plastic on the interior, quality is generally good, as are equipment levels in the SE. Overall my opinion is that it feels a lot more grown up than you might expect for this class of car.

    • @lloydvehicleconsulting
      @lloydvehicleconsulting  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's certainly better than a lot of the other choices there would have been at the time. The Up!/Citigo/Mii triplets only have four seats, only pop-out rear windows and lots of painted metal on the interior, for example. The equipment level is quite good, you can even get more on the upper trims, but this would suit most people.

      Great car, Nick. I bought myself a 2018 1.2 SE in June with 32,400 miles. I love it. At least your 2nd 12v socket seems to be working, mine doesn't! Must sort that out.

      @@mattw8332 yes for what’s basically a city car they’re a good, even longer distances at motorway speeds aren’t a problem. Unlike the i10 the VW. Up Skoda Citigo and SeatMii only seat 4, have pop out rear compared electric rear windows on the i10. You will also have to pay a premium for these cars, especially the VW.

    I've owned both gen 1 & 2 i10s both bought new. My brother bought my gen 1 i10. Both cars perform really well, are inexpensive to run, are easy to drive around the city and are equally at home on a motorway. They were a relative bargain when new and gen 1 car is now 9 years old and so far breezes through each MOT. Gen 2 is now 5 years old and my only gripe with it is it wasn't 'licenced'/allowed for a tow bar to be fitted so I borrow my brother's car when needed. A nice review Joseph.

      Thank you, Martin! How interesting to have two in the family of different generations at the same time. They were both quite big sellers for Hyundai when they are new, I think. Glad you enjoyed the video!

    Yesterday i sat in the back of a Hyundai Kona EV. I was drunk and the nice owner brought me home. But man! That Hyundai Kona had no leg room!! I had the feeling that even my wife’s citroen c1 have more legroom than the kona! I didn’t knew were to put my legs. And the kona is more expensive than the leaf or the mg zs ev . But the leaf and the mg got much more legroom

    • @lloydvehicleconsulting
      @lloydvehicleconsulting  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, the room in the back of the Kona is not brilliant. A ZS EV is much, much better in that respect. This i10 is the other way around, much more spacious in the rear than it looks.

    This looks like the same as the Chevrolet Spark; rear boot area in the Hyundai looks a bit larger, it has elastic straps that lift the boot cover, which the Spark does not.
    Those of us in the US who choose a manual do it because it is almost theft-deterrent; many vehicles either are automatic or CVT, although I do know how to drive a manual, thanks to my mother insisting on me learning to drive one.
    Excellent review, thank you!

    • @lloydvehicleconsulting
      @lloydvehicleconsulting  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, they are a similar size to the Chevy Spark (which we got over here as the Vauxhall Viva from 2015-2019). Having driven a Viva, though, I think these are a bit better, to be honest. Most i10s are still manual over here, we haven't quite given up on those yet...

    • @lloydvehicleconsulting
      @lloydvehicleconsulting  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Don't know, sir... It's just the way that it goes, most of the time I have to sort it out quite quickly and don't have much time to think about it! By the way, I am trying to remove the section of the video where the sound failed at the moment using the TH-cam Editor.

  • @ivan747100
    @ivan747100 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just an observation - I notice that in a number of videos that car reviewers do on TH-cam - and not just on your channel either - even such notable luminaries as Doug DeMuro have had this issue appear as well - that the individual rear head rests - and most noticeably in particular, the middle one for the centre seat - are left in the fully raised & extended position during the actual video review, thereby blocking out a considerable percentage of your rear-view mirror visibility through the rear window.
    It is a huge bug-bear of mine, as in almost all the instances where I have seen cars driving around with the rear headrests raised & extended, there were NO rear seat occupants in them. This occurs in all makes & models across the board, from small budget hatchbacks to luxury SUVs.
    Unless you have a car with the option for a rear-camera screen view which is selectable in your rear-view mirror, or infotainment screen, it is more prudent & advisable to leave all of the rear headrests in their fully lowered position for improved rear-view mirror visibility, until such time as you have to transport rear passengers and then raise them accordingly - and then return them back down to their stowed position again once the passengers have alighted from the vehicle.
    ;)

    • @lloydvehicleconsulting
      @lloydvehicleconsulting  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Ivan, thank you for watching and commenting. If it is my own car, I make sure that the rear middle headrest (if there is one) is retracted if no one is sitting there, as I will probably be driving it quite a lot. I probably drove this i10 for 10-15 minutes, and could see out of the back enough to check if there was any traffic behind me, and enough to be able to park it at the end of the test drive. There is also the question that I don't own the car, and so I don't want to adjust too much before giving it back to the owner if I don't really need to. I am used to driving vans, etc, which often have no rear window, so I can normally manage for a short period, which is all I usually have a car for in this context.

      Good point Joseph especially OCD, never touch a mans wheels, or in this case headrests etc - we’d be climbing the ceilings 😀

    • @ivan747100
      @ivan747100 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Some cars - going way back to models like the W124 series from Mercedes-Benz (amongst other manufacturers) - solved this problem entirely by offering a self-retracting rear headrest functionality - simply press a button on the dash & they magically folded down into recesses moulded into the parcel shelf, allowing improved rearward vision when the back seats were unoccupied by passengers.
      I was amazed by this ingenuity when I first saw this feature in operation - one of my late uncles was a salesman for a local M-B dealership and had a W124 as a company demonstrator - and showed me how it operated.
      A 1st gen Renault Scenic actually made it uncomfortable to sit in the back seats without fully extending the headrests first, as they were actually moulded in such a way as to dig into your back & shoulders unless you had raised them up before sitting down.
