Grew up on a cow/calf/beef farm. Miss it and sure brings back memories of hard, but incredibly satisfying work keeping old equipment producing.
A pretty girl curious what we do would sure brighten up the scenery. Severe hay allergies I could never get over had me take a different course.

Hiya, I watch a few channels that run dairy farms. I've never seen equipment that is so filthy on the outside. It may well be sterile inside, but they touch the outside and the teats etc. I'd rather have my milk from the other farms I watch thank you.
I've had dysentery twice and salmonella once from infected food products, I'd rather not play again.
    Stay safe, Steve...

Oh my goodness sakes THANK YOU!! Stop by the farm anytime. My cousin Vinnie is the nicest guy in the world. The farming business is a tough gig, but he has the best attitude.

Ok great, the cows are out in a pasture and happy. Now show us what they look like mid March when the frost is coming out of the ground and it's rained for 6 days straight. The concrete and roof of a forestall barn starts to look pretty good.

He's so correct about the cleaning of the bulk tank removable stop valve attachment! Great little video and so humble in his mannerisms!

I am a dairy farmer. From. Durango. Mx a few things amaze me about this fine dairy mate. First. How can last eight lactations? Thats unusual. Second. How can You run a profitable dairy milking 80 cosa at $17 hundredweight?

One thousand pounds a day from 40 cows doesn't sound correct. That's 25 pounds per cow per day times about 300 days fresh a year equals 7500 pounds annually from each cow. Back in ag school about 1970, an average cow gave 10,000 pounds annually with the top producing herds averaging about 15,000 pounds, 20,000 pounds out in California. Today I hear 20,000 pounds is the norm with record breaking cows giving over 30,000 pounds. His cows look good and I'm sure they're giving more than stated. My dad used to milk 60 cows in a parlor in 2 hours. When my uncle took over he expanded the parlor to 16 and 2 men milked 200 in the same time. He used to brag on his milking,"a cow a minute!" His cows averaged about 10,000 pounds back in the 70's. I like the pasture system used here in the video. My great grandfather came over from Switzerland in 1848 and was one of the first immigrants to Troy township in Sauk County, Wisconsin. He could have picked the very best cropland but instead he picked out a meadow and some woods with two nice streams where he could pasture Brown Swiss cows like he knew back in Switzerland. Since then his descendants have gradually switched over to raising the cows in a confinement setup. Their cull rate is about 35 percent and most cows don't see their 6th birthday. I asked a top producer what his secret was for a high herd average. He said one thing, "You gotta cull 'em!" High production ain't everything and moderate production can be profitable if the cost of inputs is less. You have $2000 tied up before a heifer gives her first drop of milk. This farmer here has 7 years to recoup that expense whereas your confinement guy has to do it in 3. Are his cows on wet manure concrete after the pasture season? I bet not, at least not all the time. Cows are meant to roam around the pasture, not be inmates at a penitentiary. Your place looks clean enough as far as I can tell. The commentator that made the critical comment about the cleanliness hasn't seen many dairy farms except one's that are groomed prior to filming. It's your sanitary milking techniques that matter more than a few spots on the walls that are going to get there no matter how much money you spend. GOOD LUCK AND KEEP ON FARMING. I'm gonna subscribe right now.

      A family self funded operation.
      Most are barely surviving.
      No vacations
      No sick days
      No retirement
This is NOT CORPORATE FARMING SO HATED BY THE LEFT.
This guy is doing great for the price he receives from the product he sells.
