  • In this video I highlighted a few aspects of the Bok game that are part of their evolution under New Zealander, Tony Brown. There's a definite emphasis on speeding up play and he's given the players the freedom to try new things. I'm hoping they'll continue this new approach in The Rugby Championship.

    Making good progress,we lacked on attack but had the best defense in the world...as soon as we master our attack we will be unstoppable.

      Exactly what I was thinking. The intent to attack is there now, and the license to play what's in front of them. We'll have a broadsword pack of forwards and a katana backline. Brute force and finesse.
      Our ruck speed was way better than against Ireland. Have to see if they continue it against the Rugby Championship teams.

    We had to sit through decades of SA master of the slow ball. 9 main culprit.
    Massive change and no one talking about it - on YT at least. Hopefully some of our brain dead kicking possession away is over.
    RG massive … could even play him at no. 8 . Worth thinking about

      @@Wolf-hh4rv I hope this video helps highlight it. Great to see the Boks playing heads up rugby and doing the little things to speed up play.

    I especially enjoyed the passing. Boks passing in front of players and running onto the ball. I liked kriels straight running. With time boks support play and I suppose general skills will improve. We saw the lions turn it around with Mitchel and how they improved and to most of those players were drafted into the boks however coaching was a little different. Alot of positive signs. I wud like to see the boks exploit these skills for the next 2 years and then look to merging it with the traditional bok game.

    Tony's influence: Not good enough. What about defense?

      I don't think we've moved away from our defensive structures. The team were pretty rock solid against Ireland. Most of the game against Portugal was played with 14 men (down to 13 for about 16 minutes too with the 2 yellows)

      Not going to good enough? You know he is only getting started right and that the team must still get used to this new approach to the game😂 Defence is not his problem, he is the attack coach. Jerry Flanery is the defence coach

    And what good has it done? Flanks on wings, 1 man at ruck, more turnovers conceded, more tries conceded and no more tries scored. The cult of Tony Brown must end

    • @CowboyRugby
      @CowboyRugby  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The attack speed is faster due to quicker rucks. It's still a work in progress but we're seeing the building blocks here. The first test against Ireland, when the Boks had the flanks running on the wings, they won. They seemed to revert back to their old style of going up the middle for the second test and they lost that one.

      @@CowboyRugbythe most dominant game of rugby during the RWC was Boks vs Scotland. We absolutely owned them, strangled the life out of them with purposeful control. Was it beautiful? To me it was, we only scored 18 points but who needs 5 tries if you are winning ?

      BTW the only game flung it around and ran everything was against Ireland and we lost that one
