"The Nevada State Capitol Building at 150” Presented by Ron Roberts
This lecture will explore physical aspects of the building, the capitol grounds, and the neighborhood. It will also compare that to what it was like here in 1871 when construction was completed. Lastly, we will look inside the Capitol and see how it encapsulates the history of the entire state and state government.
Ron Roberts has lived in this area for 70 years and started his college career at the University of Nevada, Reno. He and his family ran a business up at Lake Tahoe which he retired from at age 54. Since then he has been volunteering for many worth organizations in Carson City. In 2005 he became a Tour Guide at the Nevada State Museum. Soon after that he began giving tours of the Nevada State Capitol Building. At this time this was a new tour provided by the museum. Ron Roberts worked with museum staff to create the resource material to help train future tour guides. He has written 11 books both fiction and non-fiction and loves researching local history.
