I really like that Claudia and Soren, not just copies of Zuko and Azula, they are villains but they don't want to do anything bad or they believe they are doing the right thing by obeying their father, but we still see a lot of doubt and they themselves feel questioning what is right
If you read the novels and some of the expanded material, they hint that he came from more humble upbringing. His title as a lord was something he earned rather than being born into power. This insecurity drives a lot of his actions, as wants to know that others recognize his intelligence and importance, and wants to know he is valued and admired.

Claudia and Soren are such complex, interesting characters. They keep you guessing about what they're going to do, and yet it never feels forced or contrived. They feel like real, complicated people who are put into difficult situations.
They might be my favourite characters in this show for that exact reason, to be honest. There are a lot of great and well-written characters here but something about their messy sibling-ness has me in a choke hold.
I think Claudia is always sincere. Like, I don't think we've ever seen her not tell the truth (at least as she understands it. Since her father lies as a matter of course and he's her source for a lot of things, it gets complicated).
The moment Claudia saw the dragon hatch from the egg, she had big Anime hearts for eyes, and then the way she flies around in awe and says "It's a baby dwagon!" made me laugh so hard!!! I love Claudia and her quirks!!! She's so funny!!! LOL!!!

I think the unique thing about Claudia is that typically when writers want you to like a character they focus on making them nice, but with Claudia they decided to focus on making her fun. Being nice is something you do with strangers just as a formality but being fun is something you usually save for friends and family so it makes it really easy to get attached to her.
So, on the subject of Claudia's relationship with Callum my theory is that she sees him less as a romantic interest and more as a little brother. She cares about him a lot even if she may not want to get with him. That's why she put up that ruse for so long but stopped short of kissing him, not wanting to lead him on. That's the thing about Claudia, she cares very deeply about her friends and family to the point where she'll go to extreme lengths for them. I won't say more because then we'd be getting into spoilers. Also, most people might not think about this but just for the record, Callum is 14 (going on 15) and Claudia is currently 17. Now, I know there's a debate as to whether or not that age difference matters but to me, I think that gap in maturity is also a factor.

I really like how they did that scene.

Yes, Claudia is meant to be a conflicting character. So is Viren. Soren is meant to be more naive. Claudia was raised to think Dark Magic is the best course of action, but also knows to treat the creatures she kills with respect. It's the least she CAN do. Over time, her viewpoint changes. Whether for the best or the worst....? Keep watching to find out. ;)
Claudia is… an interesting case The writters KNOW How to make a likeable quirky character. And also a threatning villain. One in the same I actually like more Claudia than some other villains Even inside de same series I find her more enjoyable because there is bits and parts of her that feel more… human Or fun They make her a “love to hate” and a “hate to love” at the same time
My takeaway is Claudia does care about Callum. Maybe not as much as he cares for her but she does have affection for him. This isn't a total act and she can get distracted on her quest.
One of the best things about this show is everyone is on a spectrum. There's terrible, if you know you know, and there's paragons of goodness, Ezran. Everyone else is somewhere in the middle, while their decisions take them one way or the other. The great strength of the show is showing how the characters deal with the hard decisions and how the circumstances and people around them influence those choices.
Soren and Claudia remind me so much of Zuko and Azula, except without the scar on his face and the fact that Claudia gets along with her brother very well.
Claudia is almost nothing like Azula except being a "daddy's girl". Claudia loves her family & friends. Azula hates and/or uses them for personal gain.

The thing about Claudia is that she doesn't see what she does as wrong, at all. She's carefree and embraces evil stuff as just normal. And she accepts that deeply. She's not cruel, just a bit sociopathic, in a way?
What Claudia says makes sense. Dark magic, and being human, isn't about achieving accomplishments without magic. It's about gaining magic despite a natural deficit. Humans are the lowest class of creature in this world by having no magic whatsoever. To Claudia, seizing the means of magical production IS empowering.
I think when Claudia is talking about humans and dark magic, her implication is that dark magic allowed humans to do things the elves and dragons can do to strengthen their civilization. There will be stuff coming up soon that shows why many humans might view dark magic as a good thing, or at least as a necessary evil.
I honestly think that, whether Claudia is evil or not I won’t give anything away, is such an interesting character. Like I love her naive wickedness, how she is too manipulated by her fathers lessons to see the immorality of certain things, I think it’s so fascinating to watch. But I’m more into characters based off their complexity, not how morally “good” they are (not to say they cant be both), so idk
I wasn't sure if Claudia's feelings for Callum were real or not. Maybe they were. But now, Claudia has told Callum the truth about his dad's death. Rayla waited too long. She should have told him earlier. I just want to give him a big hug right now.

You don't see characters go to the bathroom but that still happens. Besides,the crew behind the Dragon Prince confirmed that Rayla is vegetarian and nobody else.
Plus in medieval times, nobility and royalty ate meat and dairy products nearly all the time. And Soren is Viren's son, who is a part of the noble class. Soren, soldier or not, has a privileged upbringing. Like I said, they're not one to talk

Yes, Claudia is meant to be a conflicting character. So is Viren. Soren is meant to be more naive. Claudia was raised to think Dark Magic is the best course of action, but also knows to treat the creatures she kills with respect. It's the least she CAN do. Over time, her viewpoint changes. Whether for the best or the worst....? Keep watching to find out. ;)

Claudia is… an interesting case
The writters KNOW How to make a likeable quirky character. And also a threatning villain. One in the same
I actually like more Claudia than some other villains

I find her more enjoyable because there is bits and parts of her that feel more… human

They make her a “love to hate” and a “hate to love” at the same time
My takeaway is Claudia does care about Callum. Maybe not as much as he cares for her but she does have affection for him. This isn't a total act and she can get distracted on her quest.
One of the best things about this show is everyone is on a spectrum. There's terrible, if you know you know, and there's paragons of goodness, Ezran. Everyone else is somewhere in the middle, while their decisions take them one way or the other.
The great strength of the show is showing how the characters deal with the hard decisions and how the circumstances and people around them influence those choices.
Soren and Claudia remind me so much of Zuko and Azula, except without the scar on his face and the fact that Claudia gets along with her brother very well.
She’s also missing Azula’s mean streak.
Claudia is almost nothing like Azula except being a "daddy's girl". Claudia loves her family & friends. Azula hates and/or uses them for personal gain.
So they don't remind you of Zuko and Azula then. The only thing they kind of have in common is the relationship dynamic between their dad

The thing about Claudia is that she doesn't see what she does as wrong, at all. She's carefree and embraces evil stuff as just normal. And she accepts that deeply.

What Claudia says makes sense. Dark magic, and being human, isn't about achieving accomplishments without magic. It's about gaining magic despite a natural deficit. Humans are the lowest class of creature in this world by having no magic whatsoever. To Claudia, seizing the means of magical production IS empowering.

I think when Claudia is talking about humans and dark magic, her implication is that dark magic allowed humans to do things the elves and dragons can do to strengthen their civilization. There will be stuff coming up soon that shows why many humans might view dark magic as a good thing, or at least as a necessary evil.

I honestly think that, whether Claudia is evil or not I won’t give anything away, is such an interesting character. Like I love her naive wickedness, how she is too manipulated by her fathers lessons to see the immorality of certain things, I think it’s so fascinating to watch. But I’m more into characters based off their complexity, not how morally “good” they are (not to say they cant be both), so idk
Claudia does actually have feelings for him to at least an extent it’s probably romantic but she at least cares for him
I wasn't sure if Claudia's feelings for Callum were real or not. Maybe they were. But now, Claudia has told Callum the truth about his dad's death. Rayla waited too long. She should have told him earlier. I just want to give him a big hug right now.
