Your wife is exactly right. We tend to take all the beautiful old buildings and our glorious countryside for granted because we have grown up with it. Marvellous to witness someone seeing it for the first time. Her reaction should remind us all to appreciate how lucky we are !
After a week in Canada at the end of winter, where all the grass was brown from being covered by snow, my heart sang as I travelled (around the M25 !! ) past lush GREEN fields and trees ... Absence makes the heart grow fonder !
Lindsey, it's not silly to cry at all. It's an honest human emotion. I'm English born and bred, I'm 47 years old and I still shed tears when I see a lot of the beauty in videos like the one your reacting to. Your correct in saying some people here no longer see the beauty because they just walk past it every day so have become immune to it but there are others like myself who still recognise things around us as beautiful. I personally love visiting different cathedrals and I live about halfway between York minster and Lincoln cathedral if you go in a straight line. Both of them are some of the largest in the UK and are awe inspiring when you see them with your own eyes.
I don't know why but when I go into a beautiful church or cathedral I find myself getting a lump in my throat. I'm not religious at all, I only ever go into these places when it's been for school events like Christmas choirs when my kids were in school but they are certainly impressive and moving to experience in real life
@@markfour2841London is OK for a weekend if you're going to see a show, that's about it! 🤣 It's definitely no representation of the UK - especially at the moment!
York always feels like home to me. I am a Yorkshireman who lives in Glasgow, but York just feels amazing, there's a feeling about the whole city. I love how they don't have the horrible bright modern streetlights and still use some gas lighting. It really changes how it feels at night, as if it could be 100 years ago or further back in time. It's so hard to describe, but an evening stroll around York on a nice late summer or autumn night is really pleasant. Then stopping off at one of the many VERY old pubs for a nice fresh ale! Golden Fleece is one of my favourite places in York
The tower and hill that you react to at the very beginning of the video, is St Michael's Tower on Glastonbury Tor. It's in my home county of Somerset (SW England), that also contains Bath.
I love how now that your wife is in it there is discussion between two people. it adds a lot more to the video in my opinion. not saying your solo ones aren’t great! they are!
Great to watch the two of you reacting to the the English travelogue. Lindsay is so . . . authentic. She’s great. Let’s have more of her. The London shots included St Paul’s Cathedral. If the iconic WWII US pic is raising the flag at Iwo Jima, then probably the UK equivalent is St Paul’s dome rising through the smoke and destruction of the Blitz (Sept ‘40 > May ‘41).
I love it that Lindsey is enjoying looking at some of our beautiful scenery….before Lindsay’s emotions showed, I was mopping my own eyes, because I felt emotional seeing the way that Lindsey was almost gasping at some of the scenery. This will be a journey of a lifetime for you and your family. Let’s hope you can get to the UK and Ireland in the not too distant future.Kind regards, MG.
I'm a very proud Welshman and a very proud Brit. I'm proud of our history, culture, customs, architecture, languages, countryside, (some) cities, just everything that we should hold dear. We love to share what we have with the world as we have so much to offer, but!! I hate the way our country is going at the moment. It's like it's all under attack and being scrutinised for our very vibrant and some points dark history. This is what made our great nation. We can't re write hitory or change it, but learn from it and move forward. At the moment, though, I am screaming inside. This video was so wholesome to watch. It was nice to see genuine, heartfely reactions for our amazing country. I'm a little gutted there was no mention of Wales in this top 10, though, haha.
Hi, Non-Brit here. I'm guessing that they will do a separate video on Wales alone. From all I heard it's beautiful there. It's on DH's and my to see list. Unfortunately we up here in Sweden we're seeing the same types of feelings, but for a different topic. We never had any part (as far as I know) in the mass-relocation from one continent to another, but we do have quite a few snowflakes and wokerism leanings, I'm afraid. Yours, Ann
@MariannaManson-cg3dz to be honest, I've never been. It's now on the list of destinations I'd love to see in the UK. Who needs to go abroad when you have all this beauty on your doorstep? 👁👄👁
Wales is solidly beautiful top to toe, too serene to mix with such as these! [kidding, love all the UK, but Wales has a special quality of its own. And I'm not Welsh!]
@@c_n_bprobably if you think about it there's easily hundreds of places.....cities, towns, villages, coastline, countryside, stately homes, cathedrals, museums, the list goes on
The Isle of White is worth a visit, it was was called vectis by the Romans , amazing thatched houses, castles, Queen Victoria's famous Osbourne House, and winkle Street,
One of my best memories is of coming out of a pub in a cellar in York opposite the Minster just before Christmas about 30 years ago. It had started snowing and everything was covered, there was a beautiful Christmas tree all lit up and a choir singing underneath it just as it was getting dark. Absolutely stunning. York is an amazing place and the people are great too.
There is a UK TV series called ' Coast ' which seems to be available on TH-cam. This series basically went around the whole coast of the UK . Even for British people it was a lovely surprise to discover how many beautiful places there are on coastal Britain . Ps the gondolas at Oxford and Cambridge are called Punts ( Punting on the river ) .
Lindsay, you’re such a sweetheart. Never apologise for crying. Steve, you have a good one there my friend. Thank you for the passion you always show towards the 🇬🇧, guys!
Cornwall is a magical place to visit... it's a very costal area with tiny fishing villages and tropical feeling with crystal clear water in the summer (it's still freezing cold). Also I hate stonehenge due to traffic and rubber necking on the only road that goes there the A303. it's a 50mph zone but you go 2mph because of everyone slowing down to look at it.
It's not freezing cold in summer. The Gulf Stream makes it warmish. It's somewhat jarring when you first get in but after a minute it's actually warmish. Same all along the south coast. I swim in summer often.
When people here in the US ask me where to visit in England, I always put York as the number 1 place. Yes, London has all the attractions, but it's a HUGE city and that would be like going to New York - very busy and most of the people don't have time for you because you are a tourist. York is a place to spend at least 3 days and take your time. The medieval city wall still exists - about 2/3 of it anyway. It is landscaped and you can walk along it. Every so often, there are watch towers that you can investigate. Everything inside the city wall has a preservation order, so it has to be maintained in the form that it was built in. Which means that repairs can be very expensive because you probably need a specialist craftsman. There are also a lot of bed and breakfast places, so you don't have to stay in a hotel. Seriously guys, take a trip to the UK and put york way up on your list of places to visit.
I'm a 62 year old Englishman and I never realised how majestic some parts of my country are! You've given me the travel bug now guy, good luck to you...
It's why I enjoy watching these type of videos, I've lived in the Cotswolds my whole life and it just seems normal to me, but watching things like this reminds me to appreciate it
@@Vorador47you are lucky. I live in Liverpool and strive for countryside environments. But at the same time im constantly being told i am lucky to live in a city full of history lol. We cannot win!
Your reaction to most of this brought me to tears. We take so much of this for granted, seeing it again through your eyes has made me appreciate it more. Im so glad you enjoyed it. Xx
Actually seeing Lindsay brought to tears brought me to tears! One thing I've taken from this video - even though the UK is "tiny" - there are SO many places to visit and discover. Even those of us in England need to go out and discover more of these places. I've been to many of them myself, but it would take a lifetime to see them all. Thankyou Steve :)
Yeah, we've been talking about making a list of all the places we wanna visit when we come across the pond and honestly it's overwhelming because how can we possibly choose and narrow it down? :)
Lindsey, showing your appreciation of our beautiful historic country was a reminder to me, of just how very, very lucky we are in Great Britain to have so much wonderful history throughout our whole country, it is literally everywhere, even beneath our feet, we are so rich in it. I hope that you both, along with your adorable little girl, do come and visit us and see it for yourself, you would be most welcome. Thankyou for your lovely comments. love from the UK. 💞🇬🇧🏴🇺🇸
Didn't even come close to the beauty and majesty we have here in the UK, the plethora of villages all around. I was privileged to work in Bibury, Glos. Small village but WOW!! Never got tired of it's beauty. They didn't even mention the New Forest where they have wild horses, cows, donkeys etc. Our country is truly amazing. We can't wait to welcome you when you visit. Great video
I’m certainly not tired of hearing appreciation for beautiful architecture. I live in Oxford and have to say, seeing creators like yourselves appreciate it’s beauty gives me pause to appreciate it too.
Also in Oxford 😄 and I agree, I always take it for granted. It's really nice to see it being recognised in this way, because it really is a beautiful city. I went to uni in Cambridge too, and I'm disappointed that the video missed the random cows that roam about the city centre, it's just such a unique feature 🤣🐄
9:54 No Lindsey. We never get sick of hearing you or any other American saying how beautiful or amazing something looks. It's a great thing to hear and warms our hearts
No! We never get tired of hearing your 'wows'! It's a reminder of how lucky we are & how easy it is to forget it. The US has the most amazing places & scenery too.
I'm crying at Lindsey crying. I just want to teleport them here right now. I'm in Yorkshire. When I look out of my window I can see sheep and hills and I feel very blessed. The train into Leeds only takes 12 minutes and this morning I had a proper English breakfast ( egg, bacon, beans, tomatoes, spam, black pudding, fried bread and toast!) in beautiful Leeds Market. You're so right about truly seeing and appreciating what is on our doorstep. I think all of us start imagining the wonderful places we would show to our American cousins. What a lovely family, they bring so much joy and I really hope they will experience the UK in person sometime in the future. Much love to everyone and have a great day x
That's a super Top 10. When you think that locations such as Avebury, Lincoln, Salisbury, Bury St Edmunds, Hereford, Durham, Bristol, Nottingham and Hadrian's Wall didn't make the list, it reminds you that England really is a wonderful place to visit.
Winchester, Arundel, Salisbury. Which is near London but not too far away. New forest. All of these places are over a 1000 years old. Hope you visit soon. And Cornwall out of season as there's too many people ie. Holiday makers. 'Good luck.' I'm sure you will come back. Hottest time is July. And May & June are great times to visit because out of season.
Lindsey is becoming a definite asset to the channel with her input Steve and seeing her emotional reaction to some of our Country's landmarks and history and the way she appreciates them is just heartwarming. Thank you Lindsey. The Lake district is a must to visit when you come over and York is another. I guarantee you will not be disappointed with either. Thank you for all your effort my friend 🙏👍
@@reactingtomyrootsSteve, when you and your beautiful family come over to the U.K. , let me know beforehand. I would love to book you and treat you to a meal in a nice English pub somewhere. 😀👍🏻 I found this video very moving and honoured by your reactions. I love your channel and look forward to your videos. I love my American cousins❤
Good video, lovely to see your reactions to things often taken for granted here! Missing from this list for me is definitely The Cotwolds villages in South West England, i also love Devon, Dorset (which they showed a part of the Jurassic coast in this video but theres much more to see) Cornwall and Somerset, some beautiful scenic towns, villages, bays and coastline in these counties. There is also Norfolk & Suffolk which are lovely Counties as well in the East of England, Norwich is a nice City imo and theres beautiful coastline and beaches in Norfolk! as well as the lovely Norfolk Broads. The Northumberland coast is beautiful too.
I said the same the Cotswolds are so beautiful. I live in Manchester so we have the Lakes , Peak District and Wales on the doorstep but something special about the Cotswolds for me .
I'm a londoner born and bred, i lived in Durham for 12 years and now live in the Lake District where i retired to. The UK has so many beautiful and diverse places. How blessed we are ❤ By the way, those ' gondolas' are called Punts
Born in Durham... lived in the south since i was 3. But now get there several times a year... I miss it, even If i hardly knew it... Now I am on the Jurassic coast, so swings and roundabouts...
Durham Cathedral is the finest peice of Norman Architecture ever built and was voted the second most beautiful building in the world ....Only behind The Taj Mahal in India...The city itself ( Durham) has many universities and American traveller and writer Bill Bryson said it was his perfect little city..He was also made chancellor of Durham University..and there's a new University library named after him...Please checkout this beautiful City ...you'll not be disapointed.
As a Northern Englishman I love visiting London and taking in the museums. The Science, Natural history, British museum, Imperial War, Victoria & Albert and the Maritime museum are all fascinating and all free to enter. Then there's the National and the Tate art galleries as well. Although you have to pay to enter the Tower of London, it is well worth a visit, with countless more as well. There is so much that it's easy to get 'information overload' with 3-4 hours in each location only scratching the surface of what there is to see!
is it hard to get into the National and Tate gallery? I mean the average waiting times, availability of tickets, how crowded it is, etc. I would love to see some of the pieces on display, but when I look at art I prefer to have some level of peace and silence. So I'm wondering what the best time of the year is for me to be able to just walk into the Gallery and be able to look at a piece without being disturbed by a crowd, if that's at all possible. I'm guessing wintertime? Thanks in advance for the response!
@@squarecircle1473 the main buildings are busy but not crowded. They have specific exhibitions which you have to pay for and they are not so chilled as they are very popular so can get a bit much. But the Tate and the National are beautiful spacious places where you will have a masterpiece on the way to the bathroom. If you go to the National, don’t forget the National Portrait Gallery next door!
If you love music, there is an enjoyable music festival every summer in the "Royal Albert Hall", arranged by the BBC. Each evening's programme is broadcast as well as live
Lindsay what a beautiful soul you have, tears are good because you feel the past and the beauty in the countryside and the buildings of our heritage. I Was born I Wales but now live in England and we do live in a magnificent country.
I'm glad you introduced your wife the other week to your channel Steve, she is a lovely lady, with a good heart. ❤ Lindsey it is not silly you're crying at all, us Brits are happy that you admire the old Architecture and scenery of Britain, we also admire it too. There is a lot more beautiful places to visit in Britain and the UK as a whole. 🇺🇸 🇬🇧
Brighton had two piers, the ruins in the sea are of the West Pier which burnt down many years ago. I can’t believe they didn’t show the Brighton pavilion, George the Fourths summer palace, it’s incredible!!
The Royal Pavilion is still listed as a Royal Palace although it's owned by the city nowadays. The outside is fashioned as an Indian Palace, complete with onion shaped domes and minarets that are actually the disguised chimneys. The inside is decorated as a chinese building complete with fake bamboo handrails on the staircase , which are made of wrought iron and at least one absolutely massive chinese dragon on the ceiling of the music room. It's definitely one of the must go to places in my home city.
Definitely a poor representation of Brighton, it's so much more. The royal pavilion, the architecture of Brunswick and Kemp town, the historic Lanes and the beautiful south downs national park.
It is impossible to have a list of top 10 for England. Even a top 100 would be stretching it. There is so much to see. The first time that my Spanish friend visited me was in February. It was a typical, miserable February - to me. To him, it was an amazing time and place. As I drove from the airport to the hotel where we spent the first night, he said, over and over, "everywhere is so green!" It made me take a second look, and I realised how much I took everything for granted. Every day he opened my eyes to things that I'd seen so often that I no longer saw them. I got the same sensation watching this video.
Yay,I’m from Cambridge, those are called punts not gondolas. My uncle from America came to visit and I showed him around. He absolutely went crazy for the architecture and took sooo many photos 😊
Awww Lindsey was so sweet! I feel exactly the same when I walk into the Cathedral here in Exeter - It takes my breath away. The beauty of it is astounding.
❤to you both. I live in York and I'm grateful for it's beauty everyday, on Wednesdays you can hear the bell ringers practising at the minster. Stunning
There would be alot more Catholic monesterys and cathedrals but king Henry destroyed them because he wanting his own religion so he could remarry 7 times while killing his ex wifes
Lindsay, you are precious! It's not silly for you to be moved to tears by beauty. It's natural and heartily appreciated. We don't build like this these days for a second reason other than having lost some of the skills needed to do so. The cost to create something like York Minster Cathedral nowadays would be prohibitive to say the least! In the time that they were built, stonemasons, carpenters and artists took years to create them.
Omg your wife has such a beautiful energy, tell her not to be embarrassed about crying she was embracing the beauty of our architecture and old buildings something us brits take advantage of. Our country is very beautiful and I love both your reactions to the different places across England. I myself don’t live that far away from Chester I can honestly say you would love it there . Thanks again for your videos, please bring your wife on again now and then love to see her and your daughter enjoying our country and also the candies etc .
Thank you for such a beautiful reaction to our country. I feel we as a nation - a lot of pride in England isn't there too much anymore (especially with the world as it is right now) but living in Gloustershire, i often walk around seeing these old historical buildings always grounds me and makes me just take a breath, step back and appreciate our country and its history so much! Lovely reaction guys thank you xxx
I live like 20min away from York and have visited many times but when you stand it front of York minster which was that building that brought you to tears, it literally takes your breath away just how amazing it truly is. The city itself is a wonderful place especially for its architecture. I can just spend the day just wondering around the city and taking it all in. Definitely visit when u come over
It's a large, urban, mostly concrete town which expanded after WW2 and the blitz destroying most of the London homes. Alright, it's got some lovely parks and great museums.
Lol me too. 'Swindon' is like a comedy way of saying hell hole to most UK folk. (Sorry Swindoners!) But it has got the magic roundabout which might fry your minds if you guys ever visit the UK 😄
Your wife is a beautiful soul. I obviously take my country for granted and forget the beauty around me. Your wife has made me appreciate the UK more. Thank you 🙏
York is stunning, you walk everywhere and you can see every layer of the city from Roman to today, but the medieval lanes are fabulous. I’d tell a visitor to do Bath and York over London any day!
The canals of England along with their history and heritage and not forgetting the narrowboats that carried the goods along them . Are a truly amazing thing to look into my friend
What a truly lovely video you two have made here. Knowing what you have said about Lyndsay's Cornish background it might be worth checking out anything about the South West Coast Path. At well over 600 miles long it is the UK's longest public footpath and may well be the longest in the world. It includes the whole of Devon and Cornwall's aesthetic coast which is certainly up there with the Jurassic coast and includes the City of Exeter. Exeter is known for it's huge range of architectural buildings with every style from the last 500 years present, certainly worth a look. As for crying - I no doubt most of us Brits would be moved to tears by some of the sights of Niagra, the Appalatians, the Everglades, Arizona and Alaska. We would be bowled over in awe of stuff like that so no surprises to see it the other way around. As a family you are turning out fantastic videos - please keep them coming. Cheers and love from the UK Westcountry.
Very true--we have some beautiful landscape as well, just maybe not quite as much rich history which I think is what speaks to our soul about the UK. :) Appreciate you watching and for the kind words!
Must include Isles of Scilly, (pronounced silly) stunning, Tresco you'll love as it's famous for its subtropical gardens & only the main island has some residents cars, not other islands other than tractors.
Steve, I think its very touching that Lindsey gets so emotional about our landscapes ain and old buildings. I really appreciate that. By the way, the wooden boats you see on the rivers in Oxford and Cambridge are called punts. You can hire them out & try poling them along yourself 🙂
The part where Lindsay started crying was pretty touching - almost made even me tear haha. The greatest thing I love seeing is how shocked an in awe you guys are over Britain. And really, because of your videos, it makes me appreciate the beauty of Britain a lot more than I should. It's thanks to you guys that I am going to visit a lot more places around Britain and remember that not everyone gets to see these sights as easily as we can. Thanks for another cracking video - as always. Stay well you guys. :) I think a lot of people visiting these places are doing so from watching your reactions and should wear T-shirts saying "coz' I watch Steve" lol.
I think York is the best place to visit, in Yorkshire. You get a lot of Americans visiting York,so much history. I'm lucky it's not far from where I live. Great video guys. 🇬🇧😃👍
You should react to Clovelly in Devon, England. It's a really steep cobbled village that leads down to a small fishing harbour. It's so steep that they have sledges to pull/lower their goods and it's like a living museum; the village is owned by one family. It's a beautiful place!
This was lovely to watch and to see how some of the beautiful places in England impacted you. There are so many breathtaking and stunning places all across the UK that you would both love and I hope you get to visit!
It's impossible to tire of the Lakes, especially in the Autumn. The colours are phenomenal. I have canoed, hiked, camped, driven, motorcycled, rode horses and worked in the area, through every season.😊
I live in beauty spot ,I have never got over it beauty ,it is high up and on a clear day can see 60 miles in all directions and the changing views throughout the seasons ,the ever changing cloud shadows across the landscape, the seasonal changes of the trees and countryside, the birds song ,sheer number of species of them from large to small ,the wild mama s ,deer ,foxes badger and more an constantly blows my mind ..
Lovely to see how moving Lindsey found it ❤ it IS extraordinary, and watching reaction videos reminds those of us who have grown used to these sights, its like rediscovering..
I’m so lucky , I live 10 miles from Cambridge. It’s the most wonderful of places . Punting on the river as kings college goes by is gorgeous especially when the suns out . Try the Eagle pub . Don’t research the pub as the history will blow you away let it be a surprise Interesting fact pink floyd formed there and played their first gigs in the local pubs
If Lindsey's family is from Cornwall you need to know that its is the 5th secret country in the uk, it has its own flag and language and has some of the oldsest history and beautiful scenery in the country, its also full of stone circles, myths and legends, and artists, you'll love it!
My cousin's company won the contract for Hampton court restoration, made up of different court yards were where people would play real tennis. My cousin was working on the ceilings made of wooden beam, he found loads of round objects that turned to dust if you touched them. So he called the curator to deal with the and identify what they were, they turned out to be tennis balls that got stuck in the ceilings, and in this certain court no one was allowed to play tennis except for king Henry the eighth..
Oh wow I love this, this is a wonderful story to tell the grandchildren. I love ordinary everyday objects used by people in years gone by, so this to me is amazing
York is a beautiful city, and when you think this was built before any technology of today, there are so many museums and viking sites to see, York is a must.
I definitely don’t get fed up of hearing you appreciate our lovely uk l live in Scotland which has beautiful places to visit uk is just a fantastic place hope you can visit sometime soon love both of you together and love when Sophia is on the videos great channel x
If it hasn't been suggested yet. I recommend watching episodes of a TV show called 'Escape to the Country' as it explores different parts of the UK by showing a family or a couple etc houses that are for sale in the area and introducing them to local activities and interesting landmarks. You'd get a glimpse of the architecture, the landscapes and also learn what the local area is known for.
yes we have it all round us, but it is just as stunning and beautiful, yes, we can stop and admire it, and the best bit is most people have access to something like this locally.
I came across you two and so glad I did. I love your enthusiasm and excitement for us brits. We take it for granted. It’s nice seeing it through your eyes. Xx
When I walked into Wells Cathedral , I burst into tears. I ,too, couldn't believe that people could build something so beautiful. These emotions are perfectly natural. Some things are just so awe inspiring.
The Cathedral and city (it’s still a City even if it is the smallest in England) are in view absolutely beautiful and the surrounding countryside is too shabby either. There’s for want of a better word the outlook at Ebbor gorge where just feel our ancestors standing where you are
Lindsay we don’t get sick of you, honest lovely. It’s funny for us, but we really appreciate it. It’s funny because we see it all the time & so we just walk past. Your reactions are a kick up our butt (arse) to us. It reminds us of how lucky we are, so thank you.
I love your channel. The UK is wonderful and beautiful and I am so proud to have been born and brought up here. The architecture . One of my favourite places to visit is Hampton Court. I have been back a few times and brought my kids.
Went there with the school and my parents. Went fishing a few times back in the day too. Not a bad view 😊 It really is a magnificent Palace. Henry Vlll home.
One place mentioned in the comments but not shown is the Peak District national park (Derbyshire) this includes Chatsworth (WOW) and Castleton with its Blue John mines, Blue John is a rare semi precious stone which you may like to check out, been in the caves many times & they are fascinating. Also found in Derbyshire are Buxton spring water, stilton cheese, and Bakewell puddings. Been following the channel for a long time now Steve and it just gets better, lovely to see Lyndsey's reaction and input - keep it going guys, and I hope you get to visit the UK soon, you will be warmly welcomed. 🙂
As someone raised in Cambridge, I feel like it's my duty to let you know that the 'gondolas' are actually called 'punts'. You can rent them quite cheap down by the riverside and either punt up through the university buildings by yourself, or get a 'chauffeured' tour where you can relax while one of the guides (usually a Cambridge university student) will do the punting and give you the tour down the river. You can also do the same for punts in the opposite direction (towards Grantchester) which is a really nice route through the meadows. Cambridge also has some great museums such as the Fitzwilliam museum, Zoology museum, and Polar museum. I believe there is also a Geology museum and an Archeology & Anthropology museum which might also appeal to your wife and daughter. Definitely worth a day trip if you're in London as it's only 45 minutes on the train from Kings Cross. Edit: Also I've been surrounded by these types of buildings for so long now that I've been desensitised to them and have definitely been taking them for granted. It's nice to see your reactions and appreciation of them.
I like your videos because you don’t hate on the UK or the US, also you don’t pretend to know everything and are happy to ask questions, you all seem very genuine
its shocking that the north east was not on here. Durham cathedral and its famous knocker, lindisfarne island. Bamburgh castle. the list goes on but we often get forgotten in this. please balance this up by looking into what we have to offer.
I agree the North East has fantastic architecture, country side, and beaches, I'm from Salford in MCR, we seem to have very few such places unfortunately
i went to northumbria last year camping for a week i absolutely loved it i'll be honest i was almost home and i had the omg i wanna turn around and go back i visited bamburgh castle warkworth castle and dunstanburgh castle planning to go back this year to visit lindsafarne which i missed out on
I'm sure everyone from England could put together a list of must-see places.Unfortunately, their videos would probably be at least 3 hours long! Which, I think you will agree, says something about the fabulous country we live in. By the way, the other countries of the UK are also rather awesome!
@@davidmitchell1391But they did mention Brighton yet only seemed to focus on the pier which is strange as the pavilion is beautiful and The Lanes would have been good to show too.
York Minster is the building during the pause at 24mins, the rose window at the top was completely destroyed, sub fact, the white rose is the symbol of Yorkshire Coincidentally the red rose is the symbol of Lancashire, and so the civil war was called The War of the Roses....

The Church is positioned that way because all Churches run west to east with the east window directly above the Altar.
The reason for Churches facing East is because 'Jerusalem' is in the east.

I'm not religious at all, I only ever go into these places when it's been for school events like Christmas choirs when my kids were in school but they are certainly impressive and moving to experience in real life
You just reminded me why I dislike London so much !
I'm from Kent and visited Glastonbury last year. We walked up the Tor one evening before the sun started setting, it was beautiful but very windy haha
I'm sure you guys would love it here and will sure get a warm welcome 😊
Thanks everybody! We appreciate all the kindness.❤️
@@reactingtomyroots just being honest, most Brits are decent people.
Yours, Ann
I was hoping to see Tintern Abbey on this before remembering it’s just over the border! I think it’s the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen
@MariannaManson-cg3dz to be honest, I've never been. It's now on the list of destinations I'd love to see in the UK. Who needs to go abroad when you have all this beauty on your doorstep? 👁👄👁
This video was about England! Surely there will be another video about Wales? P
Wales is solidly beautiful top to toe, too serene to mix with such as these! [kidding, love all the UK, but Wales has a special quality of its own. And I'm not Welsh!]

Most Brits could name at least another couple of hundred places in the UK like this.
My thoughts too.
A dunno about a couple of hundred 🤭
We figured as much :)
@@c_n_bprobably if you think about it there's easily hundreds of places.....cities, towns, villages, coastline, countryside, stately homes, cathedrals, museums, the list goes on
The Isle of White is worth a visit, it was was called vectis by the Romans , amazing thatched houses, castles, Queen Victoria's famous Osbourne House, and winkle Street,
I’m from York and seeing someone react to the Minster like that is heart warming.
In a country full of architectural gems, that's a good one.
Definitely worth a watch. I loved it..😊🏴
Lyndsey is such a 'real' person. Nothing artificial about her and her reactions.
So true, I wish you can visit England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland in the future and enjoy the vibe and sites.
Northern England is so underrated I loved it
Hundreds more beautiful places to see all over England, that top 10 only scratched the surface.
Totally agree this is what I also was thinking. Anglesey is stunning full of natural beauty and history!
Only when I leave England and come back do I realise how majestic many of parts of the UK are. Still blows my mind at times.
A comment I saw once on YT sums it up - the UK is like the Tardis. _Much_ bigger on the inside than it looks from outside.
Lindsay, you’re such a sweetheart. Never apologise for crying. Steve, you have a good one there my friend. Thank you for the passion you always show towards the 🇬🇧, guys!
❤️
And it's an hour's drive to England's 1st holiday resort of scarbados😁
@@weederfish9254fucking Scarbados hahaha
York is just the best + it's really safe! You don't have to check your wallet every 5 minutes. + it's mainly English apart from the tourists.

One thing I've taken from this video - even though the UK is "tiny" - there are SO many places to visit and discover. Even those of us in England need to go out and discover more of these places. I've been to many of them myself, but it would take a lifetime to see them all. Thankyou Steve :)
The UK might be considered tiny, compared to some other nations, but our history certainly isn't.....

I’m certainly not tired of hearing appreciation for beautiful architecture. I live in Oxford and have to say, seeing creators like yourselves appreciate it’s beauty gives me pause to appreciate it too.
Love to hear that! :)

Canterbury is enchanting.
That's a super Top 10. When you think that locations such as Avebury, Lincoln, Salisbury, Bury St Edmunds, Hereford, Durham, Bristol, Nottingham and Hadrian's Wall didn't make the list, it reminds you that England really is a wonderful place to visit.
I second this comment! I love Avebury, and nearby is West Kennet Long Barrow which is an amazing ancient place.
They showed video of Salisbury but didn’t mention it 😂
Winchester, Arundel, Salisbury.
I’d probably avoid Bradford, Luton and London to be fair.

London is vile and the historic buildings are surrounded by filth and degradation. It is not the capital of England.
is it hard to get into the National and Tate gallery?
Brighton had two piers, the ruins in the sea are of the West Pier which burnt down many years ago. I can’t believe they didn’t show the Brighton pavilion, George the Fourths summer palace, it’s incredible!!
Yes, the Pavilion is INSANE , especially inside, and a must-see for anyone who visits Brighton.
I was surprised not to see the Pavilion
I like visiting The Lanes whenever I visit Brighton.
Such a breath of fresh air, 2 Americans that acknowledge countries beyond their boarders. I’m humbled you’ve given attention to our humble country. 😎
"Borders", not "boarders". "boarders" are people who pay to stay in someone's house.
Wow.. I can’t believe you have been going around with your eyes or your heart closed to your own country! Glad they are open now
I could do a top 100 just within a 25 mile radius of my house.

❤to you both. I live in York and I'm grateful for it's beauty everyday, on Wednesdays you can hear the bell ringers practising at the minster. Stunning
The beauty of the great cathedrals is, for me, that they were designed by men who knew they wouldn't live to see them completed. That's real faith.
No health & safety either 😮
There would be alot more Catholic monesterys and cathedrals but king Henry destroyed them because he wanting his own religion so he could remarry 7 times while killing his ex wifes

The boats in Cambridge on the River Cam are called punts. Same as in Oxford. Guided tours are available and are quite fun

I grew up in Bath. I totally took it for granted.
yes we have it all round us, but it is just as stunning and beautiful, yes, we can stop and admire it, and the best bit is most people have access to something like this locally.
Nice to see you and your wife learning about the British people and country which with its history is something special
Lindsey I’m loving seeing your reaction! 🥹it’s making me tear up too ❤
I love your channel. The UK is
wonderful and beautiful and I am so proud to have been born and brought up here.
The architecture . One of my favourite places to visit is Hampton Court. I have been back a few times and brought my kids.
❤️
Went there with the school and my parents.
Went fishing a few times back in the day too. Not a bad view 😊
It really is a magnificent Palace.
Henry Vlll home.
There is something so unreal about the huge abbeys and cathedrals. You feel the atmospheric history wrapping its fingers around you.
Scotland is stunning especially Edinburgh city
its just called Edinburgh.
I like your videos because you don’t hate on the UK or the US, also you don’t pretend to know everything and are happy to ask questions, you all seem very genuine
its shocking that the north east was not on here. Durham cathedral and its famous knocker, lindisfarne island. Bamburgh castle. the list goes on but we often get forgotten in this. please balance this up by looking into what we have to offer.
its always the same for us, the English have forgotten us and the Scottish don't want us. haha. @@Ollybus
Most castles in England I believe around there
I agree the North East has fantastic architecture, country side, and beaches, I'm from Salford in MCR, we seem to have very few such places unfortunately
i went to northumbria last year camping for a week i absolutely loved it i'll be honest i was almost home and i had the omg i wanna turn around and go back i visited bamburgh castle warkworth castle and dunstanburgh castle planning to go back this year to visit lindsafarne which i missed out on
The north east is stunning, but you can only fit so much into 30 minutes, Durham is is a definite go to destination
We're really spoilt here and it really is just normal. It's so nice to see others appreciate our countryside and buildings.
She didn’t mention Brighton Pavilion in Brighton. A beautiful India styled place built by the Prince Regent. Really beautiful.
York Minster is the building during the pause at 24mins, the rose window at the top was completely destroyed, sub fact, the white rose is the symbol of Yorkshire
Coincidentally the red rose is the symbol of Lancashire, and so the civil war was called The War of the Roses....
