He didn't even play until his teens or something like that, just crazy. The guy made a Hall of Fame career out of just outworking and outsmarting opponents and doing all the things most guys don't want to do on the basketball court. I'm so glad he made the Hall of Fame because he's very deserving. It also sends a message to players that if you play the game the right way and do it at an elite level, people will notice.

I watched Dennis throughout his career....his anticipation on rebounding was something to behold. I never seen anyone like that: he knew how the ball was going to come off the rim; he'd beat his man to the spot because he was a step ahead. That's a big reason why he won rebounding titles into his mid-30's or so. He wasn't as athletic at that point.....and was seldom as tall as the man guarding him....but that IQ...that anticipation...craftiness...tipping the ball to himself like a volleyball player....but he was humble about it: "just doing my job." :)

Where Dennis is located at on the NBA list of rebounders, #23 all time, 6’8” isn’t really tall considering his contemporaries. There are roughly seven players Rodman’s height or shorter on the NBA top 25 career rebound list. Now I may be off by a couple, but Rodman was not some 7’ tall center. And, all but two (2) of the players ahead of Rodman played more games.
He was just a motivated, intelligent, freak athlete.

Dennis rodman was a hyperactive, sociopath (Not a bad thing). He had to do all the "extra stuff" to burn off all the extra energy and frustration. Him being an elite athlete speak for itself, but don't assume that his approach to basketball was "nonchalant" because of his antics... It was all mental warfare. The Man was from another planet (Not a bad thing).

There are lots of stories about Rodman rebound mythology.
One example is how Rodman talked about studying the spin and how it affected the trajectory off the board.
Isaiah Thomas recalls Rodman telling him that “your ball spins 3 times.”
Steve Kerr also said that Rodman intentionally avoids scoring so he can position himself again for another rebound.
    Truly ahead of his time.
