    As a Tigers fan, I was looking forward to Larry Herndon flagging down Tony Gwynn's fly ball for the last out of the 1984 series, and then watching madness break loose. It looks like this video shows the 26th out.

    Wrong "last out" in the 1984 World Series

  • @milesconerly5818
    @milesconerly5818 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Something's starting to smell fishy. All these teams breaking long droughts or winning first championship. Since 2001: D-backs, Angels, Marlins, Red Sox, White Sox, Cardinals, Phillies, Giants, Royals, Cubs, Astros. This after 3 straight Yankees championships, Even with salary cap, its just odd.

    • @h2xxx160
      @h2xxx160 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Marlins hardly won after a long drought in 2003; they had won in 1997.

    • @russellstinson3414
      @russellstinson3414 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Marlins had just won in 1997 (before the Yankees' three-peat), and although the Cardinals had last won in 1982, they had an NL-leading 9 championships at the time (now 11), so they were hardly an underdog. As for the others, the D-backs, White Sox, Phillies, Royals, Cubs, and Astros were NOT Wild Card teams the years they won the WS (Kansas City was the WC in 2014 but lost the World Series that year), and the rest have all won multiple titles since 2000, of which only one was as a Wild Card team (Red Sox in 2004, but not in 2007 or 2013; Cardinals in 2011 but not in 2006, Giants in 2014 but not in 2010 or 2012). So I think the introduction of the WC (which, incidentally, has been around since 1995, back when the Yankees were still a "dynasty") is only a small part of the explanation (if there even is one). And steroids aren't the whole explanation either, because plenty of non-Yankees (e.g. Bonds, Sosa, Ramirez) were doing them too.
