- Join us for an engaging conversation as Lewis Derogene, Head of Exhibitions at MoCA CT, sits down with curators Ive Covaci and Anne Boberski from the Westport Public Art Collections to discuss the 2025 exhibition, "ON FIRE: Energy, Climate, Infrastructure." This exhibition, running from January 9 to March 2, 2025, features over 75 pieces that explore how artists from the 1930s to today have responded to the evolving relationship between energy, infrastructure, and the environment.
"ON FIRE" draws inspiration from Evolution of Heat, a series of paintings by Ralph L. Boyer created during the New Deal era, and invites viewers to reflect on how our ideas and practices have shifted over the decades. The exhibition connects historical and contemporary perspectives, encouraging a dialogue on critical issues like development, transportation, and ecological balance.
The discussion also touches on the devastating impacts of climate change, such as those recently seen in Los Angeles, and the role art plays in pushing us to rethink our contributions to environmental change. Alongside "ON FIRE," the Learning Gallery features selections from WestPAC’s Ford Times Collection, a remarkable gift from the Ford Motor Company. These mid-20th-century paintings highlight themes of energy, transportation, and infrastructure, offering a unique lens on how these industries have shaped our lives and environment.

Thank you all for this conversation. I'm eager to return to the exhibition after hearing about your research process and the insights gathered.
