Little did you know that 3 years later you'd be doing the PCT with this Nick and easily hiking 33.5 miles in just one day... 😉Really cool to re-watch your old videos! You've come so far Mari (literally haha!) 😊
Really cool video. Did the Milford Track back in 96, so really good to see how it has evolved as a guided hike. Loved it. Brought back a lot of good memories. Thank you.
Hi miss ! That look really amazing and I feel so sad for you that didn’t rain ! I hope you had chance to go back in fiord while it rain because that just unbelievable how mountain transforms into waterfall everywhere ... I didn’t do the walk when I visit two year ago now but was raining on the way down to the last lodge it was just so magic ! I actually plan to do the Milford track next March I can’t wait. And again amazing video really help to realise all step for this track !
One of my favorite vlogs ever. I want to go now. Never would've thought I would want to do something like that!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for sharing. Your editing has gone so far!!!!!
This is described as the worlds finest walk. I had done it twice ,the second time with Ultimate Hikes who were great. I walked around the same time but with a full group, so more crowded but not a problem. This is a walk not to be missed when corvid19 has gone. Go for it if you can!
It's cool to watch this now.... This Mari had no idea she'd be doing the PCT with the kiwi guy she just met. You're doing something right, I'm binge watching your videos in reverse. Your vlogs are great because you seem like an actual fellow human - quirks and all.
UberDan it's a great place I live in Dunedin we Even have the steepest street in the world! and I had a amazing view when I went for a walk with scouts amazing place
What a great hiking trip! I wanna do that one of these days. Great job as always! How were you able to plan and find these tours with guides while managing everything?
+The Serial Hobbyist Girl It was even better in person! I walk a lot in general and I did the one-day Tongariro crossing beforehand, but nothing more beyond that. The first and last day were fairly easy, but the second day could be challenging if you're not used to up/down hill trekking.
I was curious because I was thinking about doing something similar this summer but I haven't had time to do any long distance hikes. I do walk quite a bit every day so I'm hoping that's enough! My longest walk in a day, if I decide to go ahead with it, would be about 15 miles. No mountains or anything, pretty flat.
It's beautiful! Could you tell me when you went hiking there? I'd like to have it on my bucket list and hopefully belong to a small group just like you.
Just like to add for people watching, there are 2 ways to do this track. guided/unguided. I did unguided but it is still organized way more than other hikes in NZ. there are so many tracks in nz its crazy. DOC is well organized throughout whole country. My preference is definitely unguided cuz cost is way down( no cruise, no meals, etc).Long waiting list for this one as most popular in country but I got on solo last minute from cancellation. A great place is Abel Tasmen as well with hiking or sea kayaking option as well. We did hike on hottest day and then saw guys rocking up with a case of beer in kayak....ugh.
Hi Mari, going to N.Z. next week. You didn't bring sleepng bag? Will I need one for the this or others tracks during the staying in N.Z.? Thank you so much
you can do it all year but April to October is unregulated and hike at own risk. it can be snowy and thus advanced. NZ was made for foreigners! Not nearly as many tourists in those months except skiers in south and maybe some in north. I personally have no major preference between summer/winter because winter nothing is sold out or crowded. hiking is different story however....more dangerous potentially but not everywhere/ever day. This hike is way south so getting cold come May.
Post-Covid I am hoping for an NZ trip including this epic hike! What to you were the biggest benefits of doing it with Ultimate Hikes versus on your own? Trying to justify the cost.
Great video Mari well done. Looks like a well run tramp. Sad to see blackberry along the track though it's an exotic and very invasive species here in Aotearoa.
I'm so excited to be traveling to NZ! Will be there in February and definitely have this on my to do list....quick question. Are all the lodging accommodations in rooms with 4 bunk beds? It's not an issue but was just wondering if there is lodging for 2. Thanks, love your videos!
Oh man. This one gave me so many feels. I don't have much set in stone yet for my "bucket list" but I think this one is being added. #magic #youwereinmagicland
I have never really been into hikes, but now! When my boyfriend and I go to NZ next year we will definitely do one! Would you say anyone can do a hike like the Milford track? My fitness level is 0.. haha
I did the Milford track with ultimate hikes and everything about my experience was wonderful! The scenery was unreal, the food was amazing and I made some great friends!
your hike vlog was absolutely amazing! do you know if going solo female without a group/tour (like you did) is safe? Were the guides good as well? i.e. giving info on the way etc? thank you, love your travel vlogs! :)
Ok - now I have to put this on my travel list. Beautiful supported hike - spectacular scenery. So, you know the PCT is absolutely the polar opposite of this, right? There are no guides, sherpas, prepared lunches, nightly lodges etc. Just sayin...... PS - you're a good Vlogger. I really enjoy your work.
haha yeah very different from the PCT! I do hope you have a chance to walk this track one day. You can also do it on your own, without the sherpas 😜 Thank you!
I just recently started watching you and I am blown away. Such amazing content :)!! I really love it. Is this where you met your boyfriend you are doing the PCT with? I think the last person to comment mentioned his name, Nick, isn't it? I love your PCT videos and everything else you do! Keep it up :)
world news 247 If you're trying to get answers to that question in a youtube comment, rather than a proper source, then, well, you're not off to a good start.
You can do for 600 or so NZD if prepared to bring sleeping bags and food etc. 3 huts for these tours, 3 huts for solo travelers, 50 people per hut limit so sells out
Great Video Mari! I did the same walk during December of last year and I uploaded a some videos of my trip if you would like to check them out on my channel! We had great weather with clear skies all days except for the last where we had a spot of rain but other than that is was fantastic!
Walking Milford without rain is like trying to have sex without touching ha ha ha RAIN is the real magic in this country ... Everyone knows sex is best wet - same with hiking Talking truth
What a wonderful experience! The scenery is so beautiful!

Haha I know! So wild!
Enjoyed your trek on the Milford Track! Thanks, look forward to watching more of your travel vlogs.
WOW...just waiting to this kind of stuff again !!!!
OMG IS THAT PLACE REAL LIFE?!? Need to do this! New bucket list item added! Awesome video Mari!
+Jessica Gable haha no I'm pretty sure it's just one big movie set here. Wish you were here!!
Really cool video. Did the Milford Track back in 96, so really good to see how it has evolved as a guided hike. Loved it. Brought back a lot of good memories. Thank you.
wow cool to hear! cheers!
@@mari.johnson The guides are just part of being a tidy Kiwi. We can't have lost trampers left behind, they would spoil the tramp and be soo untidy.
I really enjoyed this video...u always keep laughing just before u finish a sentence..lol..too cute!
Looks amazing , great video of a bucket list item of my family's. Cheers.
Those mountains are so beautiful! Love your vlogs!
Was in Milford sound. Wanted to do the hike but pressed for time. Great job with video. Sweet girl, beautiful country. Will go back soon.
Wow, that hike is unreal!! So beautiful!

I watched this again just to see Nick and yours first encounter!
haha yay! 🙈
Wow, that looks amazing
I remember watching this when you first posted it 😊 You have come a long way to end up living in NZ!
Plus.... NICK!!!!! 😁
Wow, thanks for sticking around that long!! 😊
Unbelievably gorgeous everywhere you look! What an amazing opportunity.
+Nadine Narita it really was! I feel very lucky.
A worthy end to a fantastic trek!
+JP Goes Global yes! A boat ride is always a good ending!
Not just a boat ride. A boat ride a the foot of those mountains!
+JP Goes Global I especially LOVE the views from the boat, it definitely makes me want to experience it myself!!
Love your vlogs Mari! NZ looks so peaceful!
+UberDan thanks Dan! It is very peaceful here!

New Zealand looks like the perfect place to hike! Hope to get there on my travels one day :)
+Elizabeth Travels there is so much good hiking here it's unbelievable!!
What a great hiking trip! I wanna do that one of these days. Great job as always! How were you able to plan and find these tours with guides while managing everything?
+A. Olaer a friend recommended the tour to me! So glad she did!
What a gorgeous scenery! Did you do any training specifically for this multi-day hike?
+The Serial Hobbyist Girl It was even better in person! I walk a lot in general and I did the one-day Tongariro crossing beforehand, but nothing more beyond that. The first and last day were fairly easy, but the second day could be challenging if you're not used to up/down hill trekking.

Did you buy new sunglasses down there? So cute
It's beautiful! Could you tell me when you went hiking there? I'd like to have it on my bucket list and hopefully belong to a small group just like you.
I was there in April, on the second to last trip of the season. Enjoy!
Hello! in that month it was that did the tour ?
Greetings from Mexico!

I went with Ultimate Hikes, so I did not have to bring a sleeping bag, but if you've booked huts to stay on your own, you will need one.
Oh and have fun!
Thank you very much Mari, congratulations for your video!
What month was it. Gracias muy bello!
Hi Marry what month best for the trip? Thx.
Hi. Do they allow walks during the month of April or May? And do they allow foreigner to walk? Love the walk, and your video. Loves from Philippines
you can do it all year but April to October is unregulated and hike at own risk. it can be snowy and thus advanced. NZ was made for foreigners! Hi Mari, I need to know where you got your sunglasses from! They are so cute!!
+Soupy B Aw thanks! I got them from a shop in Queenstown, sorry, can't remember which one!
+Mari Johnson is there any type of brand or model number on it?? #ineedthesesunglasses
So wonderful!
Post-Covid I am hoping for an NZ trip including this epic hike! What to you were the biggest benefits of doing it with Ultimate Hikes versus on your own? Trying to justify the cost.
Nice clip. Well done.
If you do the track, hope for a rainy day! Twice as impressive with the temporary waterfalls.
Looks like a great experience!! How much did it cost you for the 3 days?
Great video Mari well done. Looks like a well run tramp. Sad to see blackberry along the track though it's an exotic and very invasive species here in Aotearoa.
Is Ultimate Hikes New Zealand owned and operated?
I'm so excited to be traveling to NZ! Will be there in February and definitely have this on my to do list....quick question. Are all the lodging accommodations in rooms with 4 bunk beds? It's not an issue but was just wondering if there is lodging for 2. Thanks, love your videos!
love this one!
did you have you main luggage with you? also who did you booked with ?
Amazing hike, and I love how happy you are when you ride a boat :)

Oh! Too tired!~
Did you pay for those hut ,..
did you really pay over $2000.00nzd for that one trip 😮
You can do for 600 or so NZD if prepared to bring sleeping bags and food etc. 3 huts for these tours, 3 huts for solo travelers, 50 people per hut limit so sells out
Saw (and heard) more of you than the views. This is why I like videos like the ones that Kraig Adams does.
Did you hire a tour guide?
She did the paid guide tour. Which is two or three time more then the unguided tour.
Great video, that looks stunning! We just took a pretty awesome hike also! Go check out our page! Thanks!
♡♡♡
wow u r gorgeous with the view!
Great Video Mari! I did the same walk during December of last year and I uploaded a some videos of my trip if you would like to check them out on my channel! We had great weather with clear skies all days except for the last where we had a spot of rain but other than that is was fantastic!
