Recommendation: give a chance to the Spanish version, called Getsemaní and sung by Camilo Sesto. According to the authors of the musical, the only version up to par with the original.

How well Neeley voices Man's loneliness and despair face death and a faraway god This is not Jesus only but mankind screaming for comprehension of a veiled god ❤

Really genius. I'm the great fan of Gillan. I was sleeping with accordance of his songs in deep purple, and regarded him the as the greatest vocal of hard rock era, but in my forties Ted Neeley changed my mind. His performance here is absolutely amazing, incomparable and bloodfreesing. Nevertheless I have to say in Child in time Gillan achieved the sane emotional conditions

Crikey, I am back to 1973 and remembering how I felt as I saw and watched this extra-ordinary performance. This film helped me see how religion is at the root of all evil. As as a retired old man, I have had a life experience to confirm this belief as a fact. A great movie.❤😂❤😂❤😂

    Everything has become a legend!
Ted Neeley, whose name is already written in the history of the world.
The movie, which does reflect all Christians and not.
I remind all the religious who still feel offended today, that Pope Paul VI looked at the film preview and was impressed: "To tell the Passion of Christ through music means to get to talk about Jesus in all the continents".

If you've got a tuning plugin...put it down 8 semitones, its Baritone Jesus :D
Its an entirely different song but weirdly good and powerful in its own way

I sing this song often because I have a life story that is similar to that of Jesus Christ. The song helps me kill my past person who attempted to emulate Jesus Christ, but not by dying on a cross instead went to a mountain and wished a worse death by having the vultures eat him. I have a spiritual past that I will one day publish and 2000 years later the story repeats itself. I was in the spiritual world and now I am in the earthly world. I am prophet and I will let the world hear God's message.

on the Point.....Worte ,Musik, Gebet, Schmerz, Angst,,Wut, ausgesetzt sein, Verlassenheit ,Ohnmacht, .....verschmelzen im Gesang.....hier finde ich besonders eindringlich. Words, music, prayer, pain, fear, anger, being exposed, abandonment, powerlessness, ..... merge in the song ..... here I find particularly haunting.

This is so inaccurate a description of Jesus Christ and our God Almighty. Obviously, it is not Biblical and the writers needed to be more familiar with the Word of God. Such a morose depiction. Where does Jesus ever question the Will of God? No wonder people have so much so wrong. Shameful. Christ was never rebellious and definitely would never express blasphemy.

@@Inkie7771This Scripture I do acknowledge however He still did not question the nor deny the Ultimate Will of the Father as had been depicted in various statements. Seemed many believed He did not desire to do God's Will is what many inferred. He came to do His Will. As human, he suffered overwhelming pain and yet knowing Father knows best He wanted to know if there might be another Way to accomplish what was needed for our Salvation, but He asked the Father and knew it was beyond himself to knowand only to do, and never rebelled against His Will.

Undeniable powerful vocals, but unfortunately profoundly contradicts the message in the Bible. Yes, Jesus prayed and said “is there no way for me to not drink from this chalice?” But he didn’t really give this whole speech...

This show isn’t meant to be an exact historical reenactment of what happened. Theatre is meant to capture emotion. This show, particularly this scene up to the end, seeks to portray what Jesus may have been feeling in the moments leading to his death. It also seeks to portray what other biblical figures may have been thinking and feeling during these events. It’s an interpretation and is not meant to be taken as fact.
