  • He is despised and rejected by men,
    A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief.
    And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him;
    He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.
    Surely He has borne our griefs
    And carried our sorrows;
    Yet we esteemed Him stricken,
    Smitten by God, and afflicted.

    But He was wounded for our transgressions,
    He was bruised for our iniquities;
    The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
    And by His stripes we are healed.

    All we like sheep have gone astray;
    We have turned, every one, to his own way;
    And the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. ..

    Whoever plays Pilate, their acting is so good, his body language is like I don't want to do this, but his words are not. At the end, I thought Pilate screamed in anger, but now I see he was crying and wish the outcome was different.

      Роль Пилата здесь моя любимая. Но часто задумываюсь над тем стал бы Пилат пытаться помочь Иисусу и сочувствовать ему, если бы не сон, приснившийся ему накануне. Сон, где его обвиняют в смерти мессии. Возможно, после этого сна Пилат защищал прежде всего себя, чтобы не быть проклятым в веках. Но страх (толпа напоминает ему о Цезаре) мешает ему пойти до конца.
      Есть русский писатель Михаил Булгаков. В его романе "Мастер и Маргарита" писатель пишет книгу о Иисусе (Иешуа) и Понтии Пилате. В этой книге он называет главным грехом Пилата - страх. (Он не захотел рискнуть должностью и самой жизнью, чтобы защитить невинного, но тогда это и не было принято. Прокуратор не стал бы защищать бродягу.) Трусость приравнивается к смертному греху.

    Pilates wife, never utters a sound through the whole movie, yet she appears in many scenes, her facial and body language says she is certainly a follower of Jesus Christ. at 3:09 you can see her shaking her head and pleading with her eyes to Pilate not to have him flogged. She is so subtle in all her appearances, that so many never even notice her.

      @Bea Ed at least from the perspective of the film (can't speak for any other sources tbh), it was because he silently accepted his fate. Again, people were ready to go to war with the Romans here. The Jewish people were getting tired of being subjugated by everyone and wanted someone to "lead" them, but my interpretation is Jesus was NOT that leader and just wanted to spread a positive message. He didn't want people to die on his account, so he welcomed martyrdom.

    It was this scene and this movie that first pointed me to the gospel. I never knew why church was important until that moment. I was nine and my mom would watch this around easter. Before we went to Good Friday Mass, we were at the part where Jesus was getting beaten. I was balling. After, I asked my mom why they did that to him. He didnt do anything wrong. My mom looked at my with tenderness and said, "Honey. Thats the point. He didnt do anything wrong. But he took on our punishment so we can go to heaven." This movie will always hold a special place in my story and my heart.

    • @cathakjordi
      @cathakjordi 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Except that probably all points to be a complete and utter fabrication. The more the gospels advance in time of original writing, the more the jews are 'guilty'. Nothing points but to the Romans to be the ones who actually executed Jesus (and for their own good reason, Jesus was very obviously a political leader). But since the first christian communities drifted each time more and more from judaism and more and more towards Rome, the fact that their main christ figure had been executed by the Romans was... quite inconvenient. So the later a gospel or a testimony is written the more that somehow the Romans are exonerated, and the more the jews are given the blame. Even when it had its own historical reasons that had nothing to do with it, the fact that this ressulted in an ingrained antijewish sentiment and hatred would have terrible consequences.

      @@deeds7529 I would not calll Matthew or John 'new gospels'... Matthew 27:24-25 is utter historical fiction. The only explanation is some fairy tale story to exculpate Roman authorities as much as they could and put the whole deicide chatge on the shoulders of the Jewish authorities. And I am not saying that the gospels are antisemitic. At most antijewish (which are two very different terms). And even then that they were particularly bad about it. Just that those passages ressulted with time an an ingrained antijewish and eventual evolvedinto an outright antisemitic hatred. Which you can hardly blame in a work of fiction, but you can in the supposedly inerrant word of god.

There's a reason he couldn't carry his cross, and that Joseph of Arimathea was conscripted to carry it by the Roman soldiers executing Jesus. Jesus was barely alive at that point, even before the crucifixion. I doubt you've gone through worse, perhaps you have, but I doubt it.

      @@georgeblack589 Yes, I have I am the strongest man there has ever lived and these is based on facts. I was tortured by a sadistic man and everyone, including Jesus dies in that room. Why am I the strongest man there has ever lived? For a start I am the only person in the history of humanity not to have a mind until the age of 47, and not to protect myself until the age of 64. Jesus Christ protected himself from the age of 14. In the year 2008, I was talking to a psychologist and she suddenly got up extremely frightened and exclaimed, "you are open to attack!". I also have other factual evidence to prove that I am the strongest man there has ever lived, and my name sake Jesus Christ would never have withstood what I have gone through.

      @@georgeblack589 This is how I saw life as 14 year old: 1. Why do I need information if I can do mathematics and solve problems from scratch? 2. Adults are like children who play with other things. 3 I should be fine as I can do mathematics and play football; I can outdo the children who play better football than me because I can do better mathematics than them, and I can outdo the children who do better mathematics than me because I can play football better than them. No one in the history of humanity has seen life this way as a 14 year old. It meant that unlike all people I did not develop a mind at the age of 14. We know that Jesus Christ had a mind by the age of 12 as he was found in the temple chatting with the elders. Actually as a consequence of the above thoughts I became stone silent and did not begin to chat with people until the age of 47. By the way I was a university lecturer for many of those years, I graduated from UCL with First Class Honours degree in Statistics and Computing. During those 34 years, if anyone attempted to engage on a conversation with me, they would not get a reply. The reason being that I had no information, so I had no idea what they were talking about.

Jesus healed the sick, cast out demons, gave sight to the blind, opened the ears of the deaf, healed the crippled, healed lepers.......yet they asked for his feath and tge release of a murderer. This must be pretty hard to sing considering there is no melody. Also, do you think Pilate would call him Christ which means Messiah?

    • @georgeblack589
      @georgeblack589 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Perhaps, just to be a thorn in the side of the Pharisees that brought Jesus. Based on the text, it seems that Pilate relished such things. He forced the Pharisees to come to his house to discuss the issue, knowing fully that a "good" Jew can't enter a gentile's home. They had to stand at the front door and talk or risk breaking their own law.
