I just wanted to say a sincere thanks for doing these videos. In my teens and college days, I used more drugstore products. But this was before TH-cam was really big, and I never really knew if I was buying a good product from the drugstore. I certainly had some hits (one was the Revlon ColorStay Foundation), but also some major disappointments. After working for Nordstrom for a couple years, I became a high-end beauty snob, as girls introduced me to Dior, MAC, Clinique, and more. I mentioned on another one of your videos that my sister also passes along a lot of high-end products to me from the website she works for. But that said, you and a few other TH-camrs have been really causing me to consider replacing a lot of my high-end finds for these drugstore alternatives. One of my favorite powder foundations is Lancome Dual Finish in either the 120 or 130 shades, and I use it for the exact same purpose as you do the Maybelline Better Skin: to carry in my purse and touch up throughout the day. I also had a brief love affair with the IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ powder, which my sister gave me and I used completely up. I have a literal hoard of the Lancome, but perhaps after it's all gone, I'll try the Maybelline to see if it would be a good alternative!

I especially appreciate your attention to drugstore makeup. For a while I was only shopping Sephora for my makeup but you've helped me to realize that there are very good options in the drugstore 😃👍. TIP for the NYC loose powder (or any loose powders with a sifter). I take a piece of clear packaging tape and put it over the holes on the sifter. THEN I poke holes (6-7), where the existing holes are, but NOT ALL OF THEM! That way only some comes out, not a ton! I had the same problem! Once the whole sifter fell out and my product when EVERYWHERE! Hope it helps! Love your channel!
I bought the No 7 loose powder because of you and I am obsessed with it - I like it better than the cover fx powder that I bought to wear for my wedding. It's one of the few loose powders that doesn't make my undereye wrinkles look super crepe-y. I love your videos ❤️❤️
Okay, had to pause the video to tell you what I did with my NYC powder because that mess drove me crazy too. I took clear packing tape, cut a piece big enough to cover all the holes, rolled one side under to create a pull "tab", and put that over the holes. When I use it, I pull the tab up slightly and sift it into the cap. Then I put the tape back when I'm done. It's not a mess now and was a super cheap fix. 👍
thanks for recommending so many drugstore pressed powders. i feel like with the trends these days, people tend to barely mention any pressed powders and if they do, it's usually high end so this was super helpful!!

Hey Jess! In case you didn't know and wanted a loose powder with a touch of colour, the flower beauty one comes in tints. Casey Holmes uses "L01". She loves it. I'm not sure how many shades it comes in, as I live in Canada and they recently pulled out of our Walmart and haven't been able to find it anywhere else yet. 😞
I love the Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin powder! It's the powder I carry around in my makeup bag that I keep in my purse! I have a baby Laura Mercier translucent loose setting powder I keep in there too but I reach for the Maybelline more often than not when I'm on the go and need a quick touch up.
The white/translucent version of the nyx hd finishing powder is one of my favorites, and it is really good at blurring pores and making your makeup look airbrushed!!
The Maybelline better skin is by far my favorite I've gone through so many of them, definitely my holy Grail powder, I use it everyday unless I'm trying something different but I always go back to it!! Makes my skin look and feel so flawless absolutely LOOOOOOOOOVE it!!

It's funny you said the Boots and Cover Fx powders reminded you of each other...I use them pretty much interchangeably. I love the Boots so much. I've been using it more than my high end powders. It and W3ll People Bio Brightening have been my go-tos lately. 😘

Hi jess love your video. Love when you go into teacher mode. The sifter component is more expensive and would add cost that many drugstore brands cant always offset without raising the price to the consumer. Its not down to a manufactuerer. Its a brand by brand decision.
I'm glad you mentioned the salicylic acid- I unfortunately found out the hard way after ordering it. For those who have salicylate allergies, this is a major problem! Doh!

Not trying to sound hateful or anything but do youtubers have a say in how many ads pop up during their video? I had to watch 4 ads to get thru this video and it was a little frustrating. I loved the video and love Jessica. Very helpful with finding a more affordable option other than the bye bye pores powder from IT cosmetics.
Ashton Harrelson. I've wondered that too. I didn't get any ads in this particular video but I've been watching other videos for the last hour or so. I have thought those little yellow tic marks at the bottom of the video annotate when there's an ad but it's not always been the case for me. So I'm curious to know if the TH-camr can choose how many ads to include or if it's just randomly selected by TH-cam when a content creator monetizes the video.

Physicians Formula loose powder has the flip top over the sifter and it has been my go to face powder since I was at least 15, maybe even younger (so around 14-15 years now?). I hate their shade range, or lack of, but the powder is fantastic. You should give it a try!
Hi Jess! I have been so frustrated with my NYC powder for the same reason, so I looked on amazon and ordered a new container for loose powders that has a locking mechanism on the sifter to make it less messy. Not sure how well it's going to work but it was pretty cheap so it was worth a shot! Loved this video :)

Definitely made a list of new powders to try. I have been wondering about that milani prep set glow and I'm glad you talked about it. I use to use that NYC powder all the time and I loved it. I only stopped using it because my Walmart near me stopped selling their makeup which really sucks.
I love that superstay Maybelline powder. It's great to add coverage throughout the day and for neck and chest for the same use. The finish is very nice, not dry.
You turned me onto the better skin powder and it's my go to touch up for life now! I keep one in my purse and another in my dance bag Always. I use the sponge it comes with for instant fix plus it layers perfect on anything-bare skin, BB/CC creams, foundation you namw it
i love the NYC on my dry skin. I block the sifter with a velvet powder puff (houpette! in French lol). It keeps the powder in and does not go everywhere. love the video!
I am so bowled over by the Milani powder. I couldn't believe something so pretty was available at the drug store. The finish it provides is as good as many high end powders.

For anyone who can still find them & who likes a more illuminating finish on any part of the face I HIGHLY recommend giving at least one of the LE Hard Candy Color Correcting powders a try. They're $5 each & I don't find them to really color correct per se but they give a beautiful finish to the skin w/ slightly varied tones, not identical but somewhat similar to the Hourglass Ambient lighting powders. Again not identical but the type of finish is slightly similar to the Milani Ready Set Glow powder mentioned in the video, albeit in of course different hues. I've heard the multi-colored one is a near dupe for the Laura Geller mosaic powder; it certainly looks similar in the pan but I can't speak to the actual formula or use/ performance. I can say that after falling in love w/ the first one I purchased I now have the multi-colored (light version), pale pink, & pale yellow, & for my very fair skin I love them all & use them either under the eyes - wonderfully brightening - or as a light dusting all over; applied in a more focused/ concentrated manner they would also work as subtle glow-from-within type highlights, especially for those not as super fair as I am. In addition to those I have there is a pale green, a darker multi-colored version & at least 2-3 other colors intended more for darker skin...I think perhaps a peach, a lavender, & maybe a yellow but am not certain. Regardless though they are incredibly finely milled, not at all powdery, & while the packaging is noting special the actual product feels FAR nicer than $5...both to the touch & when applied on the face. For various reasons I hardly ever go to Walmart but every so often something - usually from Hard Candy or Flower- lures me in, & these did so not only once but twice. It's SUCH a shame that they are/ were limited edition & I'm hoping HC adds them to the permanent line as they would for sure be a big hit but in the meantime if anyone still happens upon any of them do not hesitate to scoop one up!
Tiff Prendergast you don't need an actually Yeti for most day to to day use; there are loads of similar insulated cups for half the price or less that do a really great job. I ADORE the one I have & picked it up @ Meijer for $10; if about half filled w/ ice it keeps a drink ice cold for at least 10-12 hrs - often longer - which is fabulous.

I do the wet beauty blender in the Wet n Wild Photo Focus and it looks so perfect too! Supposedly the CG is supposed to be a MAC Mineralize Skinfinish dupe.
Hi Jess! Have you tried using a stainless straw? It usually comes in a pouch with a cleaning tool, so you can use it over and over and still keep it clean. 😄
My favorite powder is the Flower Beauty pressed powder. I used it to set my entire face and to touch up throughout the day. I used to use the Rimmel Stay Matte but I felt like it always looked powdery. I like the Flower Beauty loose powder in LO1, but it's just a bit too dark for my fair skin even though it was the lightest color. I tried the matte loose powder but I hated it. I've never been able to make the white powders work even though I have really oily skin.
I really liked the NYX HD powder, but it didn't keep me matte for long enough. Used it all up, though! I'm currently using the Essence matte powder and really looking forward to trying the new waterproof one!
I love the new Maybelline Fit Me loose powder. I use the fairest shade rather than just the translucent one. It is extremely soft and blends easily.I also really like the Milani Prep Set Glow. I find the finish hard to describe. It gives a bit of glow without any outright shimmer.
Thatmakeupjunkie I don't like glitter in my face makeup myself, so I understand! This powder is not glittery or shimmery at all. It's just a nice, soft, little glow.
I really like the Physicians Formula matte powder. I'm having a difficult time finding the illuminating finish. Great video! Really enjoy your videos:)
Jess could you pretty pretty pretty please stay a tutorial series where you show how you can wear all the different colors of the rainbow on a more daily basis? I like colors and I like using more unique colors but I don't want to overdue it and I don't want a crazy look for everyday so it'd be awesome to see how you personally would say wear a purple green eye look or a pink one and so on and so forth

I love these videos, we don't have all these products in New Zealand but for most your advice is great! It's super depressing that most of our drugstore products are more than double the price of yours, for example the better skin powder retails here for $26
Interesting that you recommend and use HG dim light powder. I bought the HG dim light powder and really dislike it. It ages me about a decade, exaggerates my pores and flaws light a spotlight. Unfortunately, it's a bust for me...big waste of money. Thanks for this video. Very well done Jessica.

*Love You Jess!!!* 😍😍😍 Btw, I know it Seems Strange because of the name 'Warm Light,' But that is actually the Lightest Shade of the Wet n Wild Photofocus Powder. They actually do have a decent amount of shades for a Finishing Powder. They have Deep shades too. I've used them as Bronzer! Beautiful Powder! The only thing though, is I feel like they don't Carry the Deeper Shades of the Photofocus Powder OR the Photofocus Foundation in Stores. You have to get them on Wet n Wild's Website, and that really irritates me for people with Beautiful Deep Skin! I am extremely Fair to the Point where I've been asked if I'm Albino lol, but I just do NOT like that it is so difficult for People on the Deeper End of the Spectrum to Find Products in Drugstores like Everyone Else.
Bleach Bum it's a Laura Mercier dupe, the smell is intense but as soon as I put it on it disappears lm soooo glad that smell doesn't last, I heard they have an odorless one...if that's true that wud be awesome!

Bleach Bum I find it kind of comforting since my grandma used to wear it and it reminds me of her, but I would hate to smell like that all day! It doesn't stay on me!

I put tape over half of the NYC loose powder holes. Also, I have no 7 powder and even though the finish is the same, I find it's less drying under my eyes as the day goes on than the NYC.
I just bought some elf hd powder and it has a nifty half divider which helps you pour out just the right amount of powder. I think all powders should have this
But I love the wet n wild powder I just wish they had lighter colors. The lightest is a TINY bit too dark but I love the formula so much and coverage!!!

It's funny you said the Boots and Cover Fx powders reminded you of each other...I use them pretty much interchangeably. I love the Boots so much. I've been using it more than my high end powders. It and W3ll People Bio Brightening have been my go-tos lately. 😘

The green pressed Nyx powder is amazing for redness! That is my favorite tinted powder that is not a skin tone powder if that makes sense.
Hi jess love your video. Love when you go into teacher mode. The sifter component is more expensive and would add cost that many drugstore brands cant always offset without raising the price to the consumer. Its not down to a manufactuerer. Its a brand by brand decision.

I'm glad you mentioned the salicylic acid- I unfortunately found out the hard way after ordering it. For those who have salicylate allergies, this is a major problem! Doh!

Not trying to sound hateful or anything but do youtubers have a say in how many ads pop up during their video? I had to watch 4 ads to get thru this video and it was a little frustrating. I loved the video and love Jessica. Very helpful with finding a more affordable option other than the bye bye pores powder from IT cosmetics.
Only one ad before the start of her video for me. I don't think youtubers control the amount of ads that pop up.

Ashton Harrelson. I've wondered that too. I didn't get any ads in this particular video but I've been watching other videos for the last hour or so. I have thought those little yellow tic marks at the bottom of the video annotate when there's an ad but it's not always been the case for me. So I'm curious to know if the TH-camr can choose how many ads to include or if it's just randomly selected by TH-cam when a content creator monetizes the video.
If you watch in desktop the adds go away but yeah 3 adds so far one in the begining then one shortly after then another

Physicians Formula loose powder has the flip top over the sifter and it has been my go to face powder since I was at least 15, maybe even younger (so around 14-15 years now?). I hate their shade range, or lack of, but the powder is fantastic. You should give it a try!
Hi Jess! I have been so frustrated with my NYC powder for the same reason, so I looked on amazon and ordered a new container for loose powders that has a locking mechanism on the sifter to make it less messy. Not sure how well it's going to work but it was pretty cheap so it was worth a shot! Loved this video :)

Definitely made a list of new powders to try. I have been wondering about that milani prep set glow and I'm glad you talked about it. I use to use that NYC powder all the time and I loved it. I only stopped using it because my Walmart near me stopped selling their makeup which really sucks.

I love that superstay Maybelline powder. It's great to add coverage throughout the day and for neck and chest for the same use. The finish is very nice, not dry.

i love the NYC on my dry skin. I block the sifter with a velvet powder puff (houpette! in French lol). It keeps the powder in and does not go everywhere. love the video!
I am so bowled over by the Milani powder. I couldn't believe something so pretty was available at the drug store. The finish it provides is as good as many high end powders.

For anyone who can still find them & who likes a more illuminating finish on any part of the face I HIGHLY recommend giving at least one of the LE Hard Candy Color Correcting powders a try. They're $5 each & I don't find them to really color correct per se but they give a beautiful finish to the skin w/ slightly varied tones, not identical but somewhat similar to the Hourglass Ambient lighting powders. Again not identical but the type of finish is slightly similar to the Milani Ready Set Glow powder mentioned in the video, albeit in of course different hues. I've heard the multi-colored one is a near dupe for the Laura Geller mosaic powder; it certainly looks similar in the pan but I can't speak to the actual formula or use/ performance.
I can say that after falling in love w/ the first one I purchased I now have the multi-colored (light version), pale pink, & pale yellow, & for my very fair skin I love them all & use them either under the eyes - wonderfully brightening - or as a light dusting all over; applied in a more focused/ concentrated manner they would also work as subtle glow-from-within type highlights, especially for those not as super fair as I am. In addition to those I have there is a pale green, a darker multi-colored version & at least 2-3 other colors intended more for darker skin...I think perhaps a peach, a lavender, & maybe a yellow but am not certain. Regardless though they are incredibly finely milled, not at all powdery, & while the packaging is noting special the actual product feels FAR nicer than $5...both to the touch & when applied on the face. For various reasons I hardly ever go to Walmart but every so often something - usually from Hard Candy or Flower- lures me in, & these did so not only once but twice. It's SUCH a shame that they are/ were limited edition & I'm hoping HC adds them to the permanent line as they would for sure be a big hit but in the meantime if anyone still happens upon any of them do not hesitate to scoop one up!
This is just amazing because now I don't have to go out and buy all of these to try them so thank you for helping me save money

I love my water ice cold, so finally invested in a yeti. So worth it!!! I just use disposable straws
Tiff Prendergast you don't need an actually Yeti for most day to to day use; there are loads of similar insulated cups for half the price or less that do a really great job. I ADORE the one I have & picked it up @ Meijer for $10; if about half filled w/ ice it keeps a drink ice cold for at least 10-12 hrs - often longer - which is fabulous.

I do the wet beauty blender in the Wet n Wild Photo Focus and it looks so perfect too! Supposedly the CG is supposed to be a MAC Mineralize Skinfinish dupe.
Hi Jess! Have you tried using a stainless straw? It usually comes in a pouch with a cleaning tool, so you can use it over and over and still keep it clean. 😄
My favorite powder is the Flower Beauty pressed powder. I used it to set my entire face and to touch up throughout the day. I used to use the Rimmel Stay Matte but I felt like it always looked powdery. I like the Flower Beauty loose powder in LO1, but it's just a bit too dark for my fair skin even though it was the lightest color. I tried the matte loose powder but I hated it. I've never been able to make the white powders work even though I have really oily skin.

I really liked the NYX HD powder, but it didn't keep me matte for long enough. Used it all up, though!
I'm currently using the Essence matte powder and really looking forward to trying the new waterproof one!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the ELF hd powder in soft shimmer for setting my under eyes.
I love the new Maybelline Fit Me loose powder. I use the fairest shade rather than just the translucent one. It is extremely soft and blends easily.I also really like the Milani Prep Set Glow. I find the finish hard to describe. It gives a bit of glow without any outright shimmer.
Thatmakeupjunkie I don't like glitter in my face makeup myself, so I understand! This powder is not glittery or shimmery at all. It's just a nice, soft, little glow.
I really like the Physicians Formula matte powder. I'm having a difficult time finding the illuminating finish. Great video! Really enjoy your videos:)

I like colors and I like using more unique colors but I don't want to overdue it and I don't want a crazy look for everyday so it'd be awesome to see how you personally would say wear a purple green eye look or a pink one and so on and so forth

I love these videos, we don't have all these products in New Zealand but for most your advice is great! It's super depressing that most of our drugstore products are more than double the price of yours, for example the better skin powder retails here for $26
Interesting that you recommend and use HG dim light powder. I bought the HG dim light powder and really dislike it. It ages me about a decade, exaggerates my pores and flaws light a spotlight. Unfortunately, it's a bust for me...big waste of money. Thanks for this video. Very well done Jessica.

I de-potted my Flower Beauty powder. Got an empty container off amazon for a couple bucks and I like it a lot better. I have so many though.
Love the lighter makeup and lighter eyebrows! Beautiful. I use throw away straws for my similar cups...there is something gross about those reusable straws! haha
*Love You Jess!!!* 😍😍😍 Btw, I know it Seems Strange because of the name 'Warm Light,' But that is actually the Lightest Shade of the Wet n Wild Photofocus Powder. They actually do have a decent amount of shades for a Finishing Powder. They have Deep shades too. I've used them as Bronzer! Beautiful Powder! The only thing though, is I feel like they don't Carry the Deeper Shades of the Photofocus Powder OR the Photofocus Foundation in Stores. You have to get them on Wet n Wild's Website, and that really irritates me for people with Beautiful Deep Skin! I am extremely Fair to the Point where I've been asked if I'm Albino lol, but I just do NOT like that it is so difficult for People on the Deeper End of the Spectrum to Find Products in Drugstores like Everyone Else.
I know Coty Airspun smells awful but that stuff is so dang good. One of my favorites beside the Laura Mercier.
Bleach Bum it's a Laura Mercier dupe, the smell is intense but as soon as I put it on it disappears lm soooo glad that smell doesn't last, I heard they have an odorless one...if that's true that wud be awesome!
AshAddMcClaskey if they do I have never seen it but you're right. It definitely is a dupe for the Laura Mercier. Idk how I never thought of that. Unfortunately that smell does not go away right away form me... maybe it gets up in my nose or something but I feel like I smell it for hours.
That sucks! I've never heard of it lasting like that on anyone but everyone's different. Maybe your just a little more sensitive to the smell? I would hate that but I love it. I'll have to look for the odorless one! 😉
Bleach Bum I find it kind of comforting since my grandma used to wear it and it reminds me of her, but I would hate to smell like that all day! It doesn't stay on me!
LegallyBrunette and Beautiful yeah I may just be hyper sensitive to smell. And I can also imagine how it would bring some nostalgia for people. A lot of older women have used it for decades!
I put tape over half of the NYC loose powder holes. Also, I have no 7 powder and even though the finish is the same, I find it's less drying under my eyes as the day goes on than the NYC.
I just bought some elf hd powder and it has a nifty half divider which helps you pour out just the right amount of powder. I think all powders should have this
The milani prep set & glow makes my pores appear when they were invisible before!! It's a nice texture but hate the glitters.
But I love the wet n wild powder I just wish they had lighter colors. The lightest is a TINY bit too dark but I love the formula so much and coverage!!!
