Astoria, Queens seems like a wonderful place to live! I couldn’t help but notice how healthy your skin looked throughout the video, perhaps you can show us your skincare routine. And that ramen looked very appetizing 🍜🙂
Thats because it is a great place. Its a bona-fide residential area with a lot of small mom and pop stores and restaurants. One of the few legit neighborhoods left in NYC.
Thanks for showing my old neighborhood of Astoria, Queens. I was born in NYC and lived in Astoria Queens until I was eight years old and played and had picnics with my family many times while living four blocks from the park. Lived on 33d street at the old Acropolis apartment building and then on to Crescent street across the street from the Catholic High school and went to Inmaculate church on 29th street and Ditmars Boulevard. Has Astoria changed a lot. The last time I went there was in 2008. Great video and I love your channel!
Thanks so much! Yeah, I can definitely see how Astoria would be a great place to grow up in. I've only lived here for two and a half years, but even in that time frame the neighborhood has changed a lot. It seems like there's construction everywhere, mostly new residential buildings. Still, this is a really great place and I really enjoy being here!
Living in the Acropolis as child was the best place to grow up . I remember we had Pokémon dual in the courtyard and etc . Going back bring back to many good memories.
That's awesome! It's really a great neighborhood! The best streets with all of the restaurants and stores are Broadway, 30th, and Ditmars. I would try to look into anywhere around any of those streets or anywhere near the subway line which would be the N and W trains, but really the whole neighborhood is really nice.
Astoria, Queens is where Melanie Martinez (the singer who made the movie K-12 in 2019 and my favorite singer number one in the world) was born in 28th April 1995.
very nice video. we have a mcdonalds like 10 kilometres away from where my house is...and a pretty well organized hypermarket nearby....a greek restaurant which is kind of okay and two bakeries. The variety of gastronomic possiblities you have is epic. And thank you for letting us have a look into your life.👌
Oh man dude, some how you managed to miss checking out any of the home grown restaurants in Astoria that really make the place special. Like really no reason to go to a place like Paris Baguette or Krispy cream when you have mom and pop bakeries serving up authentic Greek and Middle Eastern baked goods
I hear you. I just had a taste for Paris Baguette on this particular day and that's why I went there. But yes, the variety of amazing establishments in Astoria is one of the many reason why the neighborhood is so great. The next time I make a video about Astoria, I will feature a lot more of the unique restaurants.
Thank you! I work for a photography website, but also do my own photography. I guess these days TH-cam is a bit of a job for me as well, but a very enjoyable one!
I can't tell which is which! Lol. Is Paris Baguette really a New York place? 🤔 I still like going to Paris Baguette when I go into the city. What a Krispy Kreme? Cool! The WeWork story is a most interesting craziness. A great day! Thanks for sharing!
It was a great day! Thanks for watching. Paris Baguette is actually a Korean bakery chain, but I feel like it’s the kind of bakery for everyone. I love it there! I like Krispy Kreme. It’s not my favorite donut spot, but it’s nice to have that option. So, I was happy to see it. And yeah, the story of WeWork is a crazy one!
As for sweets...er...while you were sitting enjoying your souvlaki, right behind you inside that little 'mini mall' is the stellar Artopolis Bakery...they have THE BEST GREEK COOKIE BAR you can imagine. I will periodically go and pick out my own cookies to go in a box, and then I will enjoy them over the next few days, with some tea. If you want to showcase 'Astoria', that may have been a better choice. Course, there's also the Martha's Bakery (super popular) but I find Artopolis Bakery to be much better and more high-end/quality. Oh, and Artopolis' spinach pie is also amazing.
Indeed! I've been to Artopolis Bakery and you're right about the cookies! Yeah, Martha's is really good too, but they're a little bit on the expensive side, at least compared to other bakeries in the neighborhood. I also really like Queens Bakehouse on Broadway. In fact, there's a ton of good bakeries in Astoria!
Awesome video, James! If moving to NYC with a kid, which neighborhood would you recommend? I’m eyeing Jackson heights and Astoria. Office will be in midtown but I don’t want to move with a kid to Manhattan. And I don’t mind the commute.
Thank you! I appreciate it! I would definitely recommend Astoria over Jackson Heights. While they're both great neighborhoods, you're only 10 minutes away from Midtown by subway in Astoria and the neighborhood has incredible parks, which are great for families. The only thing is Astoria is usually a bit more expensive than Jackson Heights.
@@jstjonathan5391 There's so many great places in Queens! I haven't been to Jamaica yet, but there's a ton of great spots in Jackson Heights. For tacos the Birria-Landia food truck is great! The Arepa Lady and The Queensboro are pretty notable restaurants in the neighborhood. But my favorite neighborhood to eat at in Queens is Flushing. There's a ton of great food out there!
Astoria was a great place to grow up in the 90s. It’s a gentrified soy boy town these days with few families and kids and it’s simply not a family town anymore. For me just a good place to visit once in a while, but wouldn’t raise my family there.
@@Jamesnu Sure you do just google astoria queens news and type astoria queens robbery or astoria queens shooting and see all the crime that's been going on lately then come and say astoria is nice.
I was born in Astoria, 1965. Lived there until 1992. It was a Great place to live back then….
Nice! Well, I'm definitely enjoying the neighborhood as it is today.
I'm moving to NYC at the end of summer, your videos are really giving me lots of ideas and places to check out. Thank you for making these!
Awesome! That makes me happy to hear! Thanks for watching!
You will regret it.
I lived in Astoria, Queens since I was 12 till 24. I hope to see more of it from you. Following.
Thank you! I appreciate it! Indeed, I'll definitely have more content on Astoria in the future.

Yes, I love Astoria! And that ramen was good! Thanks for the kind words about my skin, but I really do nothing special apart from washing my face.
Thats because it is a great place. Its a bona-fide residential area with a lot of small mom and pop stores and restaurants. One of the few legit neighborhoods left in NYC.
My mom and I spent a few nights in Queens on our way to Italy in 2019. We live in California. Our hotel was right near the Mets stadium.
Nice! Queens is an amazing place!
Running early in the morning does improve productivity for the day. Great video as usual!
Thank you! Yeah, even though it may be hard to get out of bed knowing that I'll be immediately running, it's something that I never regret doing.

Indeed! It's pretty good for a chain bakery.
Thanks for book review. We shall be reading it. Thx
