The Book was Darker, as there were 3 Children not 2 in the Series and, one of the Children were R word then Killed while the other still lost his head, but that's took dark for TV

@@jacksparrow9227 I know i said the other still lost there head, but after this there is no going back, the Targaryen civil war has began, now the dance of the Dragon's has started, this is the civil war, where the Targaryen dynasty never fully recorvered & most of the dragon's will die.
All because Viserys Refued to make Daemon hand of the king, cause if he was, he would have made sure Rhaenyra would be queen, with the power off the city watch and gotten rid of Otto, as he was the worst person to trust & he made him hand twice, that why Viserys is know as the begger King, cause his stupid choices lead to the downfall of House Targaryen.
If the phrase “this has been just a huge misunderstanding” was a show, it would be House of the Dragon
I feel like the writers have changed some of the events to be misunderstandings so that nobody is really to blame for the start of the war. Whereas in the book I am sure that Aemond intentionally killed Lucerys and Rhaenyra vowed revenge and sent the assassins into the Red Keep but used Damon as a proxy.
But wars are often started by butterfly effects.
@@pastlesandfishna too my point even the books were misunderstood since we get those story from a maester and court jester and two none of them were their to witness it. It was mostly they assumed.

@@JohnG44 the book was written by GRRM. He even said that there is show canon, and book canon. HotD isn't the "true" story.
The Dance of Dragons. The most destructive case of domestic squabbling over inheritance in fictional history. That I know of at the very least.

Imagine how OP house Targaryen would have been had the Dance not occured. Kinda wanna see a What If where the White Walkers attack before Viserys dies and we get to see Daemon, Aemond, Aegon, Rhaenyra, Jace, Luke, Daeron etc all fighting on the same team. Daemon and Aemond dying side by side would be the chefs kiss.
Or alternatively the invasion happens right as the Dance kicks off and it becomes even more of a shitshow as now there are three separate sides (and the North would be far too busy dealing with the undead to assist the Blacks). The Greens and Blacks would have to work together while also fighting each other…
Though every single rideable dragon in HotD being deployed all at once against the Army of the Dead would be a sight to see.
Too many Targaryens all hungry for power is a curse.
They are all mad wanting to rule, it’s so much hard work 😂 better to be a dragon riding family member. Like a 3rd or later child, less responsibility and more freedom with all the royal comforts and trappings.

Otto repeatedly hinted that Daemon would dethrone him. He even tried to cause trouble about the actions of the gold cloaks. If a person you trust tries to convince you about something for years, you would change your mind. It has nothing to do with being a grown man.

It's a very long reply you can skip if you want:
kings are usually lazy they want someone to run the place, basically like a prime minister
Daemon was already a dishonorable guy, look how he talks about his lady wife in the small council and how he talked about his recently dead heir nephew (in that place), Otto never said a lie about him, and Daemon literally thought he was entitled to the throne when Rhaenyra was there, she was the only child of the king (by westerosi law she comes before her uncle) yet both Daemon and Corlys the hypocrites thought that her uncle should become the heir (even though it shouldn't since she doesn't have a brother) but look how it changed when they become the ones who will benefits from it after Viserys stupidly kept her as heir (when it shouldn't since she has brothers now)
So enough with painting Viserys as an innocent man, he had son/s with another wife with no intention of naming and preparing him as heir like he did with Baelon, so he created a problem for everyone, don't tell me that the problem happened because of Otto and the Greens, it was never their problem, even if Alicent didn't exist and Viserys married Laena, Corlys would have become Otto in this scenario, I don't think he overlooked the Strong boys lineage out of "love"

The dragons died fighting their brothers, their sisters, their parents.
Slaughtering themselves in a nightmare not wanting to end.
And when Silence finally restored, as the smoke cleared, as the sun rose over Westeros, the last dragon died.
They had won.
But at what cost?
All they had fought for.
All they had died for.
All they loved.
All their power died with them.
For it was the end.
For the killing, the bleeding, for the dragons, for House Targaryen.
Because the only thing that could destroy the House of the Dragon…was itself.

I think this poster is great and the music ofc too! I mean the banner has a very precise detail.. the Greens having two dragons while the Blacks have one dragon, maybe it depicts how Aegon and Aemond are the two in the Greens and Rhaenyra is alone (I could be wrong lol)

In the book, this scene didn't happen; a critical deviation from the book that the show will have to answer for for the rest of its days when it shouldn't have to. That's why I'm glad Ryan Condal isn't writing anymore GoT series. Too many distortions from the source material
