The late Warren Zevon performing Hula Hula Boys on December 8, 1990 at the Chestnut Cabaret in Philadelphia. I'm posting mostly for the music, but threw in some tacky album covers in the background.
LOVE the kitchy album covers! They go perfectly with my favorite line, "I didn't have to come to Maui to be treated like a jerk/How do you think I feel when I see the bellboys smirk?"
Great recording and love these album pics. Very nice touch I appreciate your efforts.... among my favs and with maybe 30 shows I saw I never got t9 hear it. I did hear Jesus mentioned and lots more, R.I.P. wz
whyitsfunny: Don't get so excited> being the Magic that Warren Zevon left in his talented legacy of varied forms of music; I notice a lot of people falling under his spell. Now that he been taken from us too early, at least we can just luxuriate in exploring how he super evolved until death came to take him Home. He's in the Light and I will always love that VOICE and the legacy he left us. What's not to love about this unique human with such a Gift.
Does anyone know where I can purchase this version of the tune? All I see for sale is the 2007 digital re-mastered version - not done half as well as the original. Thanks in advance for your help!
z8it: Warren said on Letterman that all the Hawai'ian means is something like "sing the chorus now" So, there must be more you what you're saying than what you've said, and I'd like to know. Please, tell me more.
I don't get the negative comments on The Envoy. The production is a bit dated, but aside from the throwaway "The Overdraft" the songs are great! This, "Jesus Mentioned", and the title track are some of his early best.
scary, you wonder if he has a gun or knife or?? why isn't he walking away from this babe? It's not like he was the most faithful man in the universe ... but now suddenly the tables are turned & he has to study the behaviour..
SAW him maybe 20 times, solo, with a band, big halls and small. he was a gift to us all

This is the best Zevon boot I have ever heard. Man what a legend

and Charlies Med and and...
"Ha'ina 'ia mai ana ka puana" get to the point. Not a huge Zevon fan, but this song is great
a bad hawaiian trip
He has been deserted by his woman, who takes off with the car valet and the pool boy.
