Singers often record a variety of songs from multiple songs writers to comprise an album. A music contract, the term I used, encompasses singers (vocalists), song writers (lyricists), and musicians (either those that play music or write music notes). Any or all of those parties may receive a contract, a music contract. However, song writers are typically freelancers and not under contract. Musicians are usually hired for a (recording) session in the studio or on a per musical arrangement basis.
