I'd say also, don't pick a job because it might have a high bonus. If it has a high bonus, there's a reason. The Army needs (wants) more people in that MOS. Maybe it could be a great MOS like cyber might be, or it could be a MOS that can't keep people because it really sucks (like cook). So be careful of seeing something that has a good bonus like 10, 000 dollars, and just going with the job because of the bonus. Also, if possible, just go with a three year contract. Don't sign for a longer contract thinking you'll be all good. If you do, then you'll be stuck for that much longer. You'll be stuck with your MOS if you do end up hating it (if you even do your MOS much. This IS the Army, and I won't talk about the other branches, but in the Army there's a chance you can be sent to a unit where you're not doing your job much if at all. You are a "soldier first" in the Army no matter what MOS you have), and/or you will be stuck with bad and toxic leadership at your unit, and/or you'll be stuck with the military nonsense (that all branches have to deal with) if you do wind up hating the military, and/or, and I don't mean to ruffle feathers again by talking about the other branches, you'll be stuck with the Army nonsense (which let's be honest.......while the Army MIGHT promote you faster, somewhat, than other branches, as long as not only you are a good soldier but ALSO if you don't have toxic leadership that neglects you.... the Army, especially regular FORSCOM Army, DOES take nonsense further than other branches do) on top of the standard military nonsense, if you do end up hating it... for that much longer. So just sign a three year contract if possible.
Some MOSs (low density) E1-E6 can be done in 4-6 years depending on individual accomplishments However when you go for E7 the competition for those slots is as fierce as E9 in a combat MOS so you may spend 14-16 years of a 20 year career as an E6 Happened to me
Well...to me what I have notice is when i was in combat MOS of 19 Delta(Cavalry Scout), i didnt have the problem with the MOS at all...the thing that bothered me the most was fhe people...people say stay away from combat MOS's for a reason and I understand why but dang!, I hated it because even though it was basic training and it is isn't the real ARMY because it is just basic training but dang it, its the people and I completely understand that alot of the people are young in joining the military but dang, combat MOS's, it gets toxic work environment to be honest.
Consider this before selecting a MOS in the army. If you spend five years in a apprenticeship program you will be earning around 40 dollars a hour or more in skilled trades, 4 years in the army and you will be earning 1 dollar a hour with no future and living in misery.
Yes, it is, but there is so much opportunity when you get out of the Army. That MOS is highly sought out in the civilian world after you receive all of your certifications during training.
@highspeedfng The MOS that I really really wanted to get was 68D but it was so small MOS and also a sought after job aswell. So when 88N opened up, didn't even knew about the job so I research it and I was surprised the job market it has both civilian and federal. I'm. Very exited to learn this new job working in Healthcare for 11yrs.
Guns is given regardless of a job. What career field would you want to do in the civilian world that you have no education, experience, training, and certifications yet?
First off I’ll call Bullshit. Let’s say your at MEPs. And have a change of heart. Here is the fact he didn’t tell you. Did you already share in and sign your contract? Yes or no… if yes. Then he is current. If you answer NO. Then you have no obligation walk out and take some time to think
I came in as an SPC, and I’m in a vet unit. I maintain a cage, do inspections, and teach. I wanted to be a ‘normal’ soldier in a CBRN unit, doing CBRN junior enlisted stuff, but that wasn’t what was given to me. I’m in a CBRN NCO position, and might remain to be so even if I get to choose to be in a CBRN unit for my next duty station. It’s not a bad MOS, as some may think.
You don’t have to wait until your contract ends. I’m editing the video about changing your MOS. It should come out today or tomorrow morning the latest.

There's really 3 areas: Combat, Combat Support and Combat Service and Support
You’re probably right. But you can combine Combat support and service support.
