I was like 20 when to die for came out. And it was the film that made me think “Wow. Nicole Kidman can actually act”. It was a turning point for her in her career, and it made directors and audiences see her in a way that fluff like Days Of Thunder just couldn’t. It’s also one of my favorite of her films.
Unless someone does something like murder like O.J. Simpson or a freak of nature like Michael Jackson I tend to not care about what they do in their personal lives and only worry about what they do on screen. Of course I'm going to want to watch more interviews for people who are really good people like Chris Pratt or someone like that. But I don't let off screen issues delegate to me in any way if I like a movie or an actors performance in a movie.
To die for is one of greatest movie ever made 1st movie of Casey and he was totally brillant on this even Nicole and Joaquin were on top they cast them well

I was formally and appropriately re-introduced to Von Trier's filmography later on and re-watched it; Incredible performance. As for the gentleman, it was Lonesome Jim. To this day it remains one of my favourite films, and he has managed to stay relevant in .. low-key, down to earth, just straight up incredibly talented and persevering actor which I respect dearly and admire in him. Most recently in Manchester by the Sea he was, yet again, a pleasure to witness. Great pairing.

Manchester was just a little too depressing for my tastes, but the scene Casey did in "Oppenheimer" with Cillian Murphy was probably the single most powerfu scene I've seen in my entire life. It was disturbing to read about the sexual harassment lawsuits filed against him by two female producers which were settled out of court. Also the CBS Sunday Morning interview that aired last week where he disclosed that he called Columbia University after dropping out and asked if they would confer him an honorary degree. They had the good sense to turn him down, and requested he pay back his outstanding tuition bill. What nerve!

You see the actors as themselves when they immerse themselves in character? Then they are either doing a poor job or you're simple minded. Seeing what talent this man has in quite a few roles I know which option I think is the right one. Stop being silly.

i know that he got sober around 2013/2014 and the accusations happened in 2010. i really hope that this means that he has since changed his behaviour and that things like this won't happen again. i know that a lot of people exhibit abhorrent behaviour when they are addicts. it doesn't necessarily "excuse" the behaviour but it does add a glimmer of hope that perhaps this kind of thing won't (allegedly) happen again.

Such a sweet genuine woman.....if she had her time again I'd hope she would choose to age gracefully....can say the same about Cate Blanchett.....both amazingly grounded women...both would have aged like a good wine....but Hollywood got in the way
It was disturbing to read about the sexual harassment lawsuits filed against him by two female producers which were settled out of court. Also the CBS Sunday Morning interview that aired last week where he disclosed that he called Columbia University after dropping out and asked if they would confer him an honorary degree. They had the good sense to turn him down, and requested he pay back his outstanding tuition bill. What nerve!

Affleck is an amazing actor but after reading about his behavior towards some of his producers and crew members on previews projects, I can not separate the actor from the character, is really hard to watch him on movies now.
what did he do?
You see the actors as themselves when they immerse themselves in character? Then they are either doing a poor job or you're simple minded.
Seeing what talent this man has in quite a few roles I know which option I think is the right one. Stop being silly.
cohletrain I loved how you've put it man. I see he's a very well crafted actor and under rated too. I've only seen him in Manchester by the Sea and loved his performance thoroughly. It literally blew my mind. I personally love him for his acting and the fact that he speaks so less about the incident tells so much about his grace as a person. That said, I wouldn't judge him as a person because I don't know him and it's def. not my place .. But his acting: Commendable!
i know that he got sober around 2013/2014 and the accusations happened in 2010. i really hope that this means that he has since changed his behaviour and that things like this won't happen again. i know that a lot of people exhibit abhorrent behaviour when they are addicts. it doesn't necessarily "excuse" the behaviour but it does add a glimmer of hope that perhaps this kind of thing won't (allegedly) happen again.
