    I like this teaching on tithing because there was a time I had to choose tithing to the church or food in my home and someone told me to give my food money and I would be blessed but what really happened is going one month with out food. I have stopped tithing after that and never will again.

    Wish I heard that before I begrudgingly gave it all away when I needed it.

    Your point is biblically accurate. But you should qualify it with scripture.

    Agreed, mostly. A few years ago my wife and wee not able to give the 10 percent dollar sum that we had been giving. Then God directed me to Luke 21:3 where Jesus responds regarding the woman who had very little cash to offer and said, “Truly, I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all of them." We learned two things, one is to give out of love not obligation, the other is there are ways to give other than financially.

    Not even Jesus himself was qualified, accordig to the Mosaic Law, to receive tithes from anyone during his time on earth. When Jesus was on earth the Temple was still intact. Imagine if Jesus had come telling the people to tithe to him and his disciples. As a matter of fact, when Jesus sent out his disciples to preach Jesus specifically told them not to take a purse with them, but into whatever house they entered they were to eat and drink what was put tbefore them. In essence, the ONLY THING that Jesus's disciples could receive from whomever they witnessed to was food and drink.
    Not only was Jesus not qualified to receive tithings from anyone, there is no record that either Jesus or his disciples did ever received tithing from anyone. So, if Jesus, his disciples, even Paul, never received tithes from the people nor even qualified to receive tithes from the people, HOW IS IT THAT ANYONE WHO CLAIMS TO BE A FOLLOWER OF JESUS TODAY THINKS THAT HE OR SHE SHOULD RECEIVE TITHES FROM ANYONE?
    The Church was established by the Apostles in Acts chapter 2. The Temple was still intact at the time. No one even considered redirecting tithings from the Temple to the newly established Church. As a matter of fact, it was the "haves" within the newly established Church who provided for the "have nots"within the newly established Church. Guess who didn't have their hands out for a handout. Yep! The Apostles did not have their hands out for a handout. In actuality, the Apostles appointed certain persons from among them to distribute necessities to the needy within the newly Church so that the remaining Apostles/disciples would be freed up to go preach the Gospel (on each's own dime, so to speak).
    The take home message is that anyone who claims that he is a follower of Jesus Christ and is preaching tithing did not get that message from Jesus, nor the Apostles, and definitely not from God. The question is, who or what rules are these modern day, so-called, christians following when they request, or even demand, tithing from the people? Can you say "the devil"?

    Give where the need is greatest for the gospel and worldwide missions.
    Do you know what the local church is doing with your money??
    The west church is getting richer and richer whilst the poor are getting poorer' is true of many areas of the churches as well as the world and affects 100s if millions of Christians in needy nations.
    Give with enthusiasm and joy is possible when you research and know what you are giving to,so that we may serve Gods purposes in our generation.

    Tithing was never money and the grain and food was given to Levites the poor, widow and orphan. First fruits went to other brothers and sisters in Christ.

    I have friends who quit going to church. They are very self righteous and tell me giving flowers or baked good to a bereaved, or trying to pay with food for work around their house is tithing. Anyone have words to explain why this is right or wrong?

    • @kimberlymendoza9165

      First off, they quit going to church. How are they receiving fellowship and biblical instruction outside of themselves? No wonder they are self-righteous.

      Well, if that church taught mandatory tithing from earned wages, I'd probably leave too. Today's version of tithing carries no biblical precedent but giving is central to the Christian worldview, particularly giving to the less fortunate.

    • @markb7067
      @markb7067 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The "first fruits" were heave offerings of consumable items to be brought and shared at the temple and Jesus' point was that money (taxes) are man-made, not the spiritual equivalent of our existence that God provides.
