    i live in West Virginia and drive up and down mountains and hills all the time and never feel like my Envista lacks power. It's very quiet and smooth and effortless and I still can get close to or around 40 mpg on an hour drive to work with mixed mountains and highway.

      turbos are great for high altitude, pretty much negates the thin air.

    You need to get that oil change at 5K miles. If you do that the engine will last forever

  • @rocketshiftgaming5693
    @rocketshiftgaming5693 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

    Please please please change your oil every 5k miles on this vehicle. My mother has 75k miles on her 2020 Chevy trailblazer with the same 1.2 engine and she’s had 0 problems at all. She changes her oil every 5k miles. She always tells me that oil is cheap but your engine is not. I also noticed that you put it in “low” and I was gonna say that in my cousins 24 Trax and my mother’s trailblazer the “low” gear basically means you can shift your own and it doesn’t help with hills so I recommend just keeping it in Drive in hills

    Last August I drove between Sacramento and Reno going over Donner Summit. It's 7,000 ft. Even my Subaru Legacy XT with the 260 HP turbo was huffing and puffing a bit.😮 If course that's extreme, but it makes me curious how a small turbo like that 1.2 would do in high elevation like in the Sierra Nevada or Rockies. Kind of a moot point - I live in flat Florida now and will probably never drive at that elevation for a long time!😂

    • @stephenhawkingsfootballboo7885
      @stephenhawkingsfootballboo7885 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If you live in a VERY hilly or VERY cold part of the U.S. this is probably not the car for you... but as you said, you live in literally the flattest and one of the warmest states in the Union so you'd be great with the Envista.

    Turbos really help at high altitudes so it shouldn’t be much of a problem driving this at higher elevations. However, if this little engine was naturally-aspirated, it would be a different story.
    My only real concern would be the brakes when coming down from elevation. Rotors can get a bit hot with the constant brake pressure on them. Don’t want them to get too hot - otherwise you’ll lose of lot of stopping power and run the risk of smoke/fire(?), especially if the descent is very steep.

    • @Hemond1
      @Hemond1 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You don't use the brakes when descending from mountains, you use the transmission's lower gears.

    How is that Buick Active Noise control working? Is the car really quiet inside?

      It's unreal how your mic doesn't pick up any engine groans as you go up the hills. I'm sure that little 1.2 engine is working overtime. @@VetOnVettes

    Why would you manually select a lower gear? The 6-Speed automatic transmission has load sensing technology designed to provide optimal performance when left in Drive.

    • @Hemond1
      @Hemond1 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Because the transmission will be trying to achieve high gas mileage and will be constantly shifting up and down every time you momentarily ease off the throttle. On a long downhill , such as the Donner Pass mentioned earlier, the trans will not stay in low, you have to put it there manually to keep it there.

    • @rayRay-pw6gz
      @rayRay-pw6gz 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      So when he said low, he meant he was setting the 6 speed transmission into manual mode and selecting a lower gear ? I did not see a tachometer. How can you drive without the tachometer in manual mode ?

    • @partyon5374
      @partyon5374 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@rayRay-pw6gz ~ That's a good question. Our 2005 Envista lets you select 'L' which switches the trans to manual mode. Then you use the + or - on the shift handle to choose your own gear range. You can configure your dash to include tach which is a good idea as it's difficult to hear the revs as the motor is so quiet.

    • @rayRay-pw6gz
      @rayRay-pw6gz 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@partyon5374 you would think that it would automatically show the tachometer when you shift to manual mode. Also you should have showed what happens when you do the same run in automatic mode. It may just downshift by itself.

  • @rayRay-pw6gz
    @rayRay-pw6gz 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

    He shifted into low. First , no tachometer. Second , is this a CVT ? Third , is the turbo run off the engine or electric? Sending all this time driving and very little useful information on the technology involved.

    • @VetOnVettes
      @VetOnVettes  8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      There is a tach (there are numerous display screens with or without one). Not a CVT. Turbo runs off exhaust gases. (I believe Audi is the only manufacturer to use an electric turbo). It's a very simple 1.2L 3 cylinder motor with a turbo (I suspect around 8-10 lbs per inch of boost) that is geared appropriately with 6 total gears. I made this video in response to other videos where people were inquiring about the usability in real world scenarios. I'm sorry this video did not meet or exceed your expectations.

    The car appears to be very quiet. You were speaking a tiny bit louder than usual. I didn’t hear the engine that much. Is there a tachometer? I’d be curious about RPMS.
