the reasons for all the bing and bongs are the new vehicles homologated rules (UN-ECE), that came in place july 2022. they state that all new cars coming into the EU market need to have dedicated user warnings for: speed limit info (SLIF) Speed limit warning (SLWF), Speed Control Function (SCF) and advanced driver monitoring systems (ADMS).. but the rule are also to be applied from on 2024, to apply for all newer registert cars, despite when they got registered have to comply these rules.. thats why pling and plong already are there in the ET7 EL7 ET5 and so on. they are just in front of whats coming to us users. And NIO have understood peolpe are annoyed, and tries to get around the rules the best they can, and for now they have made so you can turn off the sounds each time you start a drive, but do to the rules, it has to go back to default everytime u turn off the car.. so brase your selfs dear testers of cars, a bing bong nightmare are coming your way :)
I still don't have much experience with Nio cars but I have test-driven 2 vehicles an ET7 and EL7 before I order my EL8. I understood all those things bing and bong you can turn off by asking Noami for voice assistance and also you can change drive mode simply by voice instructions... Correct me if I am wrong.
Hi Kris, I was the tuning engineer of ES7 or EL7. During the development, there are 3 specs of summer tyre including a 20" ContiPremiumContact, 20" Pirelli Scorpion and 21" Pirelli Pzero with "i" mark on the sidewall. And the original winter tyre should be Nokian Hakkapeliitta R3,(which means this winter tyre has been properly validated and tested, some winter function have been calibrated based on this as well). Unfortunately I guess the R3 is EOP, so the replacement might be Nokian Hakkapeliitta R5 or ContiVikingContact7. These winter tyre has not been considered during performance development(which I screened them out in terms of performance). So please ask NIO EU to provide a EL7 with proper tyre, any one of those summer tyre would be better.

I wonder if the reason you have to turn off the warnings every time you get in the car is because of it is a press car and you don’t have your own user profile. If so, by now, NIO folks should realize that it is been a consistent complaint from the reviewers and make an option to provide a temporary profile for the reviewers so that their custom needs are saved for the whole duration of the test.
Let me start with positives says Kris and goes on bonging tirade for 5 minutes. 😂If this car implements Tesla software, it will be number 1 car recommended by Kris in this category at this price point.
My EL7 is a great car except for this issue. The biggest objection I have about the way this is programmed now is that it makes me drive less attentive because I end up changing the settings a few minutes into the drive. I should stop before doing that but I end up doing this once my first traffic light appears and I have to stop anyway. But still, I should not be bothered with this. Even at a red light I should pay attention to things around me, not these settings. I strongly suggest to have this setting fixed for a day after changing it ONCE. For the rest this car is everthing we wanted in a car for long drives. Space for dog and family. The passenger seat is just not available in any other car.
I totally agree regarding the "bings". Beeps and chimes are for alarms and warnings that require your immediate attention, nothing else. During a normal day's uneventful driving there should not be a single beep or chime. I have seen many reviews of Nio's and other Chinese cars where the reviewer keeps getting interrupted by inexplicable noises, and yet the don't seem to mind. I would have returned the car to the dealer within 5 minutes of test driving.

Hah as soon as he opened with it's brilliant and annoying at the same time I was like 'ahhh, so like a Tesla then'. Because the underlying car is brilliant, but the 'safety' features can get in the bin. Seems it's the same here. Maybe it's OK in China / US where there's big wide open roads. But in Europe with narrow lanes, greenery hanging into the lanes, etc. it's just a sea of alerts and 'corrective steering applied'.

Yes Totally Agree , Driving now one Nio for 7 days ,Because one accident with my Tesla S Crapp the music installation ,same problem piep piep But the Cars looking Nice Out and IN 1000 watt were in the car no way ,Its Really bad Sound and Power and no Bass . I also asked explicitly about turning of these three features, and they where very clear that they reset every time you get into the car.
Bro, you can turn off ALL warnings (speed, lane, distraction, sleepyness, etc.), at least in my 2024 EL6. This is what I (have to) do the first 30s when entering the car... the fact that you have to re-do this every time when getting into the car is thanks EU regulation insanity!!
Yes, but it is all buried in menus in different places. Other manufacturers like Porsche, VW, Skoda, Polestar and Mercedes have quick shortcuts to turn all of these off easily and quick. So there is no excuses here.

Hopefully NIO will group all of them in a future software update under 1 item called 'Super Annoying EU regulation nonsense warnings'....
I have NIO ES8, you can turn off ALL of this stuff you're talking about. Turn off once and it won't bother you anymore. Nomi can be muted as it should be, "keep focus" - infrared camera watching your eyes can be turned off as well. Lane assist can be turned off, brake assist warning has 3 levels, put on the lowest and it won't bother you. I am only not sure about blind spot warning, everything else CAN be turned off. Not a NIO shill but if you want to dedicate 40% of the review to complain about something that can easily be turned off somebody has to say something. At least sit in the car for 10 minutes, go through the menu and figure it out before starting the rant. Everything that you turn off/on is automatically saved to your drivers profile. Unless you're getting into the car with the new driver profile every time this things should NOT turn on. To be fair, this car can run some shitty "test drive" profile that turns on all of that crap every time you get in, so i'll give you the benefit of the doubt.

You may want to know what you are talking about before commenting about things you don't know. As you can see on the channel I drive NEW CARS EVERY WEEK buddy, so new cars with the latest regulations is sort of my everyday life. I just drove the brand new Audi Q8 (videos coming out later this week) and though it has these same systems, lane keep can easily be deactivated with a simple button press and speed assistance is only a visual cue, and does not bing or bong. This is proof that you can still have all of these systems without being annoying to the driver. Audis driver monitoring system is no where close in sensitivity either. You can actually change the climate and setting in the Audi without it binging and bonging at you. So as I said in the video, NIO have to sort out how these systems work and make it easier to turn them of like other cars in its class.

The infotainment OS Banyan 2.0.0 is being push out, huge improvement.
What version system you are using? In China, Banyan 1.3.2 has all the switches available to turn off those warning sound.
luckily most of these can be fixed via OTA update

I test drove this last week and I don't remember it binging or bonging a single time.
The synthetic leather is unfortunately greasy and glossy after a year. NIO must improve their seats and provide fabric seats for better durability.
