Manual people dont realize it, but if you own any german sports cars they don't have manuals other than maybe Golf. Audi TT, R8, Audi S series, AMG A45, etc... are all standard paddle shift automatics. Its simply just faster for the computer logic to shift and deliver maximum torque and power vs human shifting.
@@441meatloaf Exactly lol. it’s ridiculous how a Hyundai will beat you at green lights if you drive manual without revving much. Computers are much quicker than humans delivering power - Especially after a 8 hours shift stuck in city traffic
Had my new CVT Premium for a week now….so glad I chose the CVT………so relaxing, creamy power deliver and I can concentrate on steering through the twisties - I’ll be keeping it stock and enjoying it just as it is. 😎
Nothing wrong with cvt. Better as a daily driver being backed up in traffic. Besides you can still have fun using paddle shifters. Car is much livelier though in sport #
got my wife a 2018 Civic with a CVT a while back now and honestly it has spoiled me. Very uninterested in actual h pattern manuals, only wish it had paddle shifters too ;p Dropping down to S and L works like downshifting which feels noice
The CVT is substantially slower and gets worse gas mileage, I was shocked when I drove a stage 1 cvt compared to stock af manual trans. It’s night and day, the cvt doesn’t even feel like the same car; straight up terrible performance and overall driving feel
I got my cvt 2018 last June I've been loving it, A lot of manual guys hate but if your doing anything over stage 1 get a CVT cooler, right now im stage 1 Plus, no problems been driving for about a year, its also so nice not having to push a clutch epically the way i go to work always bumper to bumper
I had my wrx for a year but man my wrx cvt if you guys want to put nice little mods in your car i highly recommend grabbing a grimmspeed dry con filter no tune needed
To each his own but I couldn’t imagine not having a manual trans for the WRX specifically. Enjoyment for me personally and reliability being the main reasons.
I was prepared to buy another GLI. I wanted the safety features available in newer models. A friend of coarse recommended the safety features available in Subaru's and mentioned WRX. Only two were available within 100 or so miles. One 2017 getting an engine replaced (yikes) and a 2020 wrx limited with lots of upgraded options and 1900 miles. I went to test drive it and I was like 'oh it is automatic, idk if I want that, didn't even know they came auto'. Then the saleswoman pointed out that the front cameras etc only come on the cvt. So I was like well whatever, I'll test drive it...pushed start button and in my mind I was like OHHHH that sound....then I test drove it...wow so much more fun then the GLI! SOOOOO I bought it, I love it....Only regrets I want the STI now, but will wait for the new platform in 2022, then wait longer for the 'kinks' to get worked out and maybe buy a 2023-2024 STI. The WRX cvt or manual I recommend, lots of fun and 'cute' :)

Biggest recommendation for a first time new car buyer... Save up for a big down payment. Ideally $10k+. Anything less and you're going to pay a ridiculous amount in interest, especially if you haven't any credit history yet.

I went with the cvt as well just since I have a ton of stop and go traffic for work so I think the auto was the best choice. Do you know off the top of your head if I would void my warranty with a cobb ap??

i have a wrx cvt too and i had it stock for a year, but with this car its like u just cant keep it stock. Now it has cobb stage 1 ots and subispeed gurney flap. Nameless axleback is on the way. Dont wanna do too much tho cuz im not trying to push the cvt limits. Like u said the cvt get so much hate for no reason. I think the cvt is done pretty well in the wrx tho. I like the convenience of the automatic.
Wym dude I have one and it feels weak in power and jerky at low rpm dealer told me this is how the car is supposed to be save your money and buy a manual , if you have plans to do any mods to this car buy a manual you will thank Me later trust me (coming from a cvt owner)
Last I checked we have to use a bpv not a bov..because we need the pressure to.stay inside the system the bov releases the pressure which is bad for the cvt or something I forgot where I read it
I can't lie I hate CVT's but not for "manual elitest" reasons (though I prefer manual) but there is just so many cons to them like 1- you can only do basic upgrades like an air filter maybe and catback (but going stage 1 is very risky IMO for a belt driven trans) 2- almost all stock CVT'S break easily if you go hard on em whereas manuals last waaaay longer even if you do beat on em 3- When they do break, the repair costs are OUTRAGEOUS and there are not many people besides the stealership that know how to work on them...the only advantage I like about a CVT is that when you roll race a a manual wrx vs a cvt with the same power, the cvt will always win (but definitely not from a dig) because its in the max powerband during the whole I pull

The transmission seized !! It has been serviced 3 times since I bought this in 2017 !!! Lost wages, money, and my time spending at the dealerships who don’t seem to know the cause ????? Will definitely change my car for an ACURA, MERCEDES BENZ, LEXUS or INFINITY Q50s with AWD , and a proper transmission !!!!

GLI is...German VW Golfs tend to have a lot of electronic problems after few years and engine sludging.

Not really Even if it does Subaru has expanded the warranty on wrx cvt to 100k miles or 6 years I believe

That’s what manuals are for, CVT’s are for people who just want a nimble car while having the comfort of an everyday commuter
Subaru CVT's aren't belt driven.....they are chain driven which is more durable. The newer CVT trans the subie uses the 8 speeder is from the Ascent.
