A buddy of mine has his own little excavating/dirt work business and has one of those old ferds in dump truck form. He keeps it beautiful, had it for decades, checks the fluids every morning, regular maintenance……and then she spun a bearing on him 🤣 dirty devil!
Do a search for Holmes 650/750 tow truck/wrecker. I have driven trucks with Holmes 650 (20Ton) wrecker on them and Holmes 750 (25 Ton) wrecker on them and they are awesome as well as being as tough as woodpecker lips.
WAKE YOU BOYS! There's a new ol2stroker video. It's time to watch Wayne struggle while working on junk. With the majority of us to far away to come give a hand.
Love how you all just move these trucks all around like it's no big deal - and I realize that it isn't, for real truck fans. That tow rig kicks ass, and that's a damn fine looking LN!!!!
Sometimes watching Jimmy run around there it seems as if he's watching you shaking his head and thinking WTF is he doing. Good show even without missing footage. Thanks.
@Ol2Stroker oh, but of course. I get a kick out of the stuff you get. I've been asked before, what are you going to do with that or do you really need that or my favorite, what are you looking to by now. My favorite answer to the last one is, " I don't know till I see it." Doing the marketplace scroll. I have my far share of junk. My stuff is the size of hot wheels car compared to you having Tonka trucks. Lol
This is my childhood hands down favorite Ford AMERICAN BUMPER in Ionia MI. Had a fleet of six white l9000 like this they would drive through my little burg on their way north to retrieve stampings from next town north in the morning while I would wait for the bus. Usually see one or two a day for a while and one special day all 6 cruised by! I was in hog heaven.. '90 or '91
Old cummins tend to smoke until worked some. You can run a short wire jumper from the starter to the shut off selenoid to bypass the finicky ignition switch.
I'm with you, the LTL's just have a good look, always been a favorite of mine. Like others have said, that White Western Star tow truck is just mint. Loved to see that.
Hello Wayne! I sold furniture door to door until 2005ish! We were the few that went long driveways. Always made customers happy. Never gipped anyone. Surprised I didn't meet you!
* Big Boys with their Big Toys ! Hey I just heard a great Aussie term for puttin' a rod through the block it's " THEN SHE THREW A LEG OUTTA BED ! " 🤭👍 Great vid guys ! 👊😎👍
I still believe in those door-to-door sales. After seeing our on-line b.s./delivery. Imagine a salesman selling Walmart products. Least we can hack and see what we're buying. . Offer a Cold Glass of lemonade/w x-lax/Castor oil. 😂
Great video Wayne another one for the collection. At least it runs and the cab is in way better shape than the Race truck. Looking forward to your next video stay safe Wayne.
I've got one of them sitting right here in my garage. It's been a great truck. I think I've had it 16 years. 270k miles on it. Hey that Western Star with the Holmes 750 on it and the Detroit power. That looks like the perfect truck for you. Did you????????? BTW all that white smoke, it seems like it's late. Did someone put a Step Time motor in it?
@@Ol2Stroker step timing control or STC was what they did to the big cam right before they started making the N14. It was some kind of early attempt at emission control. Is the fuel rail pressure increased it retarded the fuel injection timing. Sometimes it screwed up and the timing stayed retarded even at low fuel rail pressures like when your idling. The late timing would make a lot of white smoke at idle
Hello Wayne, you did something that TH-cam started to "hide" your videos for me. Before I had bunch of your videos on the home feed. Now I have to click the notification button to see your videos. I still watch your videos and greetings from Germany.
When the Cummins firs started, it was hamering like it had a broken crank....................and I thought it needed Dave Crump's magic . Then it smoothed out . And what engine is in the Star car ?
I love the FORD LTL design, too, because it looks like it has plenty of room in the engine bay to fit a Scania V8 with a supercharger on it and turbochargers. If I had the spaceand a ton of greenbacks, I'd be makin' a custom rustbucket ratrod rig out of one. Kinda like a mix between the Peterbilt narrow nose from the movie Duel (1971) and an Aussie/Kiwi roadtrain look. A freakin' American/Swedish Frankenstein truck. Oooh, with a firetruck horn too like the mini COE from Jeepers Creepers. A Wolo Chief if memory serves. Haha.
You have made me laugh so much 😅 you definitely have a new subscription user in Scotland 🏴...you are one funny dude in all the right ways. Keep up the amazing content my friend...the editing is on point !!
What constitutes a “big cam” engine. Obviously it is a bigger camshaft, but how much bigger? And how do you know? When I hear “big cam” I am always reminded of the term “3/4 race cam” on old cars.
That Big Cam chugged away nicely once it started! Are you going to drop the oil pan and look at the mains and rods to determine if it needs refreshing?
I used to drive a big cam Cummins. Was a gutless, ticky clacky piece of shit. Was a Cummins reman that ran like that since day 1. Always started. I never plugged it in. Was in Alaska. Scary moving heavy stuff with a gutless truck. Lol
A vintage truck being towed by a vintage truck, how awesome is that? Oh, wait, I just called those trucks "vintage" and I'm older than either of those trucks! That is one way cool Western Star. So, what are we working on today? Not just junk, Ford junk! Ford L-series is a bit strange. It seems Ford designed them to only use V-8 gasoline or diesel engines. To get the highly popular Cummins inline 6 into the L-series, the engine has to be tilted slightly onto its right side. Ford engineering. They were built Ford tough, with steel cabs that rusted out. Woohoo! A Greta cameo appearance. LOL! Yeah, it smokes... a little. Yep, shake hands with danger, it's not fun unless danger is involved. I agree, parts truck, it would take a lot of money and time to make it a road worthy truck, but it has plenty of usable parts.
It’s the piece in the head liner that holds the radio was just interested if not that’s ok it’s funny that ford is the same color as my ford 9000 logging truck I need a new hood too hard to find good used parts for these trucks thanks keep making great videos

Aw, dang - give that much love to only get kicked by it!
Good excuse to repower with an 8v92!!
@@Ol2Stroker As well as a set of white mudflaps...
My dad let me drive one like that one night when I turned 16 on the interstate 8V92 13spd I was hooked I'm 62 and retired and miss driving alot
Badass! They're hard to find with 92 power
A once over of the wrecker would be great. That thing is awesome

Turning into Ol2Stroker (Diesel ) Creek … Don’t care what you drag home I’ll just sit here and watch the show !
Thx for bringing us along.
ooof, that's a terrible thing to say!

Looks like you're pretreating for mosquitos!!!! Thanks Wayne!!!
In my opinion those Ford LTL 9000 were a good-looking truck and the tow truck pulling it in there don't look bad either
Smokin like a Cypress Hill concert!
🎶 Hits from the bong...🎶
Damn kids, smoking like Willie Nelson
Love how you all just move these trucks all around like it's no big deal - and I realize that it isn't, for real truck fans.

It is for sure a pile of work dealing with these turds!
Sometimes watching Jimmy run around there it seems as if he's watching you shaking his head and thinking WTF is he doing. Good show even without missing footage. Thanks.
Jimmy's the best!!
Bought an 85 LTL9000 in the same color as that one last summer. Has a 3406B and a horseshoe 9 speed
"Had to have it."

That’s a nice truck. But I am more interested in that sweet ol’ wrecker. Nice, clean old truck with a Holmes 750. What’s not to like
Same here!!!
I have absolutely no use for an LTL but man do I want one to just cruise around in. They're just a stout looking rig.

Wow you have Detroit caterpillar and Cummins all capable of smoke that makes you waneo a equal opportunity offender great job .carry on
Those are some of the best shifting old trucks ever made 🤘

Nice job wayne you saveing the old iron is awsome nice wrecker too
LTL's were the best looking Ford for sure but that White Western Star was awesome! Would love to see a walk around of that one.
Worked on one with an n14 in it a couple weeks ago. Such a goofy design with how they tilt the engines in these trucks
Yea it is!!

At the rate you're collecting trucks, your very own wrecker is looking like a good idea

So is the plan to transfer the body work to the race truck? Looks like it's good for that and part out the rest.
Yea not sure how much of it I'll use

Yea right! Far from it!

Wayne a few observations first I hope that was a package deal with the sweet WS wrecker. And Cummins is new to the channel! Are you feeling ok? lol.
I wish I could talk him outa that wrecker i loved it!!
That wrecker is pretty bada** kind of reminds me of the wrecker from high ballin if you remember that movie with jerry reed & peter fonda

You know air compressor and air hammer will work just fine for that type of mood that brake pad will break free for probably within 5 minutes
Should do a video on the western star tow truck
Stay tuned!
at the beginning you lifted out of one set of cut off them do they not fit then?
At least you could have turned the wipers on 😂😂

Ought to at least do oil analysis
Nope!
Is it becoming a mozzie fogger? Or did it just runaway on U? For the record, I actually like the LTL 9000s. I think they look cool done up.
