i'm in my 40s and Annie Nightingale has got to be my fave DJ i've ever heard, beeb or not. i'll miss her much. second to her on the radio, bbc also i think, Mary Anne Hobbs edit: also, as i'm relistening to the snippets of music, i'm remembering this mixset a little 🥲
Annie was one of the coolest people to ever be on this planet, she was the first female BBC radio presenter, and she continued to be a great DJ for 52 years, she was truly dedicated, Rest in Peace Annie, you will be missed so much...
Annie was a recovering Alcoholic. She was often seen staggering out of the Train station in Brighton returning from Londons BBC studios as a DJ. I think she dud finally quit the booze but her voice has been affected.
Sad she has passed but to be honest the BBC should have let her go ten years ago as her voice is really bad, she cannot hardly speak, perhaps she had lost her teeth. No commerical station would have kept her on this long. What is a 'short illness' anyway? Was it the thing that we can't talk about?

if people still listen and respect, why let her go? The music is 100000% worse than her voice.
