For some reason, I love the graphics on those big balloons. You can almost FEEL how bouncy they are. And speaking of great music, the next level has some very good music too.
With someone else playing I get to look at the backgounds instead of worrying about dying! And it's awesome! I've noticed so many new details I've never seen before and I think I love this game even more now for it!
I can relate so much Masae, like you don't even know. I do something and the next instance I ask: "What did I just do?" and I have to legit think about for a million years.
+Flying Pasta It's actually really scary sometimes ;o; I do it so much in real life, I'll totally lose my train of thought in the middle of whatever it is I'm talking about. I'm glad I'm not alone, but I'm sorry you have to feel that pain!
MasaeAnela For now it's not that bad since I live with others and they tell me what I just did, but I can see how it would turn horribly if I was alone. I hope you don't forget anything important!
the music in this game is composed by David Wise who composed for the SNES DKC games as well as diddy kong racing and the Gameboy Donkey Kong land games.
EnderShadow I store stats for each episode on LPC; hence, when I continue charting, I simply pull data from the last post and add on. (postscript: that's why whenever I make a minor addition derp, it may remain unnoticed up until two episodes after the issue arose... shhhh...) :3
Hehheh, well, you certainly are way better at keeping track than I am, I tried, but got confused by the third enemy... Let's just say I thought she had killed 100 enemies by the end of the first episode...
Wow Masae, your brain is just all over the place during the end of this episode. Not only you didn't checked the right side of Alpine Incline, but then you just got a short term memory lost of ever getting all of the puzzle pieces on the level. Really! Talk about major derp! XD
The reason the vehicle stages feel short may be because of the fact that the vehicles have health in this game unlike the first game. Yeah. The music in this game is amazing. So many good sounds. David Wise did a fantastic job. :)
+Josh Bonilla Thank you! :) I really am having a blast with it. Informative LPs are fun to do too, but there's just something really special about being casual and just sharing my first experiences of games with you guys! It's like I have company through the whole thing!
Think of it this way, Masae. The vehicle levels are fast-paced, and demand both quick reflexes and deep focus. Also some memorization required. If these levels went on for as long as most of the on-foot levels, they would be extremely draining and punishing.
+ShadyKnight9 That's actually a really good point.. But I could have sworn that the vehicle stages in Returns were longer in general. But then again, someone else did mention that it might just be that in Returns you only had one hit to play around with, so Tropical Freeze's health system might just be making it easier. I dunno
+ShadyKnight9 Alternatively, traveling by vehicle tends to be much faster than traveling on foot, so if a vehicle stage covered the same distance as a foot stage it would logically take much less time to get through.
+LegendaryHero I don't know, DKC2 has one of the best soundtracks in any video games. Though honestly this game certainly rivals DKC2 in how amazing it is.
I wonder if Masae still has the same bird now as back when this part was done because judging from the video she posted about her art patreon her bird seems pretty calm unless the bird just happened to be having a good day that day.
Unfortunately, my bird that I mentioned in this video passed away quite a few years ago. Mipha is the pink bird you see in my content these days-- she's calm for the most part but definitely has her moments
When I first played Rodent Ruckus, forgot how to control the rocket barrel from the previous game and I ended up dying over and over again trying to work out how to control it, and there I was thinking I was pressing the wrong button! I was having a huge derp moment, it happens a lot.
The rodent enemies that appear in Autumn Heights are called Cheesy Chesters, their name being a possible reference to Cheshire cheese which is called Chester in German.
Yeah the rocket barrel stage was the first one so it is short and you get two hearts over just a one hit kill. Its more to do with how people were butthurt about the difficulty in Returns (which was honestly very fair and rightfully challenging) so they decided to go easier on players. With the items in the shop I would have liked them to keep things how it was and if your stuck, you can buy items to help. Additionally that first boss was a big hit box to wail on and was only somewhat basic because like in Returns the first couple of bosses are very simple and easy. If you ever try to complete them with one heart and only DK, the bosses become more actually memorizing boss patterns and surviving which even on the first boss isn't straightforward.
If you're enjoying the music, you should check out "Donkey Kong Country 2 Symphonic Suite". Super, super beautiful stuff, adapted from David Wise's soundtrack to the 1995 game.
Masae, you are not alone in that short term memory thing; there'll be times where I have to write a list down it gets so bad. And this is for simple stuff (sometimes it's for stuff I need to do, but other times it's obvious stuff)
I once sent an entire message in Wing Dings to one of my friends. All the message said was "chicken" repeatedly. I don't remember why, but I might have the file somewhere.
You mention the music in this level, so if now is not the time to say it, when is? The soundtrack of this game is just amazing, in my opinion one of the best game soundtracks ever created. Hopefully they`ll do a third game, yeah it will be a fun platformer, but we would get another soundtrack like this :D
How did Masae completely forget about the Rocket Barrel? I mean, I can understand if she forgot about it, but was later reminded when she figured that she needed to mash B/A to make it go.
+StrangerGameMaster My memory is slicked with oil-- nothing ever sticks to it. In all seriousness, it has been like two years since I played Returns so I honestly forgot that the rocket barrel stages existed, I guess the minecart stood out more to me. I did remember as the stage progressed though!
MasaeAnela Wow... Um... Well, you better get into the habit of leaving reminders for yourself for every little thing because that must be extremely problematic.
Masae you ignored your own instincts again, there obviously was something on the right and you ignored it like so. Also are you acting like Dory because she has short term memory issues too you know. Oh and you most likely taking on Wing Dings and the KONG level tomorrow.
For some reason, I love the graphics on those big balloons. You can almost FEEL how bouncy they are.
And speaking of great music, the next level has some very good music too.
1:55 Rattata used tail whip!
Masae's defense fell.
Those mountains. Those clouds. That music! Im a huge fan of Alpine Incline.
masae is probably the only channel that can make a bell cause me to crack up.
"did i miss a puzzle piece?" *DONG*
KAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
With someone else playing I get to look at the backgounds instead of worrying about dying! And it's awesome!

Flying Pasta Hahaha, so far it hasn't been anything terribly important... That I've noticed, anyway.
Omg thank god it's not just me. I seriously don't think it's normal to need to ask others about something I said 2 seconds ago.
BoRn Mad For me, it's just daily life by now. I wonder what will happen to me if I get memory illness when I'm older? God help me
Cheese has never been so deadly.
+Darc Video Ain't easy being cheezzy!
GENTLEMEN,
BEHOLD!
CHEESE!
The music and visuals are continuously impressing me. I swear I'm going to fall in love with the soundtrack altogether is this keeps up!
the music in this game is composed by David Wise who composed for the SNES DKC games as well as diddy kong racing and the Gameboy Donkey Kong land games.
Woah. The fur shine on Pompy is amazingly done.
Probably the reason for the vehicle stages being so fast is that you are constantly on the move and that you have health now
1:50 Raticate used iron tail! it's super effective!
Mankey fainted!

+ninjaydes Does keeping track of the stats hinder your enjoyment of the video? Just curious.
Skyward Sean Quite the contrary. Charting greatly augments my enjoyment of Masae's LPs. :)
Wow Masae, your brain is just all over the place during the end of this episode. Not only you didn't checked the right side of Alpine Incline, but then you just got a short term memory lost of ever getting all of the puzzle pieces on the level. Really! Talk about major derp! XD

Yeah. The music in this game is amazing. So many good sounds. David Wise did a fantastic job. :)
+TheMaleLilligant That... That actually makes a lot of sense. It does make it feel a bit easier than Returns.
+MasaeAnela I must admit...I laugh when you fail...I am an evil person
Masae im glad your enjoying this lp as much as we are : )
+Josh Bonilla Thank you! :) I really am having a blast with it. Informative LPs are fun to do too, but there's just something really special about being casual and just sharing my first experiences of games with you guys! It's like I have company through the whole thing!
+MasaeAnela Was the 'I really am having a blast with it' a pun?
Gavin McLaurin .... Not intentionally. But we can run with it!
+MasaeAnela
Just remember to look around the level, YOU DON'T NEED THAT CHICKEN YOU IDIOT! Don't want it to happen again? Be diligent.
+Zeldagigafan Calling Masae an idiot? RUDE.
Think of it this way, Masae. The vehicle levels are fast-paced, and demand both quick reflexes and deep focus. Also some memorization required. If these levels went on for as long as most of the on-foot levels, they would be extremely draining and punishing.

+Megan Martin And there's only a few vehicle stages, and once you get to the aquatic world, they get much longer
Loving this LP so far, you're so cute when you're frustrated, keep up the good work
That was the greatest remix of the Gear Getaway I have ever heard!
i think this game have the best music out of dkc games
+LegendaryHero I don't know, DKC2 has one of the best soundtracks in any video games. Though honestly this game certainly rivals DKC2 in how amazing it is.
LegendaryHero you realize the composer for the music of the first 3 DKC games did this one too right? I don’t know if he did Returns though.
David Wise didn't compose for Returns or for DKC3 (If he did, it was only for the a song or two, Evelyn Fisher composed most of DKC3).
3:55
You mean you haven't noticed? Every video you upload is dripping with it!
Any video from Masea called "Wild Ride" instantly has my attention.
@@MasaeAnela oh sorry to hear about your birdie passing. I know how that feels.
When I first played Rodent Ruckus, forgot how to control the rocket barrel from the previous game and I ended up dying over and over again trying to work out how to control it, and there I was thinking I was pressing the wrong button! I was having a huge derp moment, it happens a lot.
masaes obsession with posteriors continues
"Wing Ding? You mean like the font?" Oh heheheheheeee, the world before Undertale.
I'm just watching this now and gasped I can't wait to see that level, i'm trash I know
:DDDD

I did not expect that barrel to do that!

*sees Wing Ding*
*instantly thinks, Gaster*
wow i'm a terrible person and also way too obsessed with undertale
1:53
I thought tail whip didn't hurt, just lowers defence
+Charizard19946 Normally yes, but against Masae it's SUPER EFFECTIVE! (Also, that looked like a critical hit)
Oh dear, rocket levels make a return in Tropical Freeze. I remember the headaches these gave me in Returns.
The rocket levels are always hilarious (but frustrating) in my opinion.
It's good that the minecart and rocket levels are shorter. It would be really painful if they were longer.
I once sent an entire message in Wing Dings to one of my friends. All the message said was "chicken" repeatedly. I don't remember why, but I might have the file somewhere.
The Penguins of Madagascar came to assist the blue Penguins.
Rocket Barrel, Oh Yay!
The cheese logo… really looks like Jarlsberg O__O (Norwegian Cheese that is sold much cheaper outside Norway. Kinda fits the Viking theme I guess?)
Yay first time under 300 it's surprisingly more difficult than i thought it be
1:54 Raticate used Tail Whip
Critical hit
Alpine Incline reminds me of classic Spyro.
Wing Ding. I'm sure we all know that font type

Masae, since when did you have the lucah scream?
Next part will probably be funny considering the Kong level in this world.
Ack! I missed episode 9! I'll be right back!
Would you look at that, I guess penguins do fly!
A movie that has a lot a fail... Twilight?
guess you could say that first level gave you a Gouda time!
So happy!!!!!
How did Masae completely forget about the Rocket Barrel? I mean, I can understand if she forgot about it, but was later reminded when she figured that she needed to mash B/A to make it go.

Wing dings are breaded hot wings.
6:26 "now lets grab my diddy" masae 2015
I don't get it, but here's a similar quote: “There’s a lot more Diddies where that came from” (Masae, Yoshi's Island).
Diddy= dick

Btw, that cheesy ride had so many holes, it puts swiss cheese to shame!
I still think 'Grab my Diddy' is a little risky XD
What are you saying in the Intro that sounds like timp soda? Is it another language?
You have a bird named mochi? Like the candy?
Yes. Yes she does.
Aww that's "sweet"... Get it?...I am turning into chuggaaconroy
Ah! Oh noooo! The pun power
Okay, this is messed up! Penguins aren't suppose to fly!
