This recipe was super popular in the 1970's but the original recipe you pour in a 9x13 dish & freeze. Thaw slightly & cut in squares. Very refreshing & the only way I have ever had it. We made it often when I was a child & always used chopped walnuts .
In the south (Texas) it was a staple growing up. Some added marshmallows and cream cheese. Some put nuts in and some did not. It’s a personal preference.
These types of dishes are unheard of where I live... I never knew people made stuff like this until you did that video making pistachio salad. But then again, I have my own foods I make for gatherings that people haven't heard of either.. Like struffoli during Christmas. 😃
I used to make something similar I used mixed fruit, cherries, pineapple chunks, Mandarin oranges, drain all cans of fruit of liquid, nuts( of choice) coconut flakes, and whipped topping made up in a pot and kept in fridge. You can add any other can of fruit you like also.
This is similar to millionaires pie. It uses most of the ingredients you used, but maraschino cherries instead of canned pie filling, cream cheese and coconut. The recipe I used is from spend with pennies, an online recipe site. It’s very easy and delicious!
This was a staple growing up! If the nuts weren’t in there I would be so offended but we used pecan halves those chopped ones might overwhelm it in my opinion. We always used regular cool whip. But I love that salad.
Interesting review. Interesting recipe. Hard to believe that the Meijer version was sweeter when this has an entire can of sweetened condensed milk. Thanks for making this.
Honest opinion this is a weird concoction of ingredients. I like everything by itself but doesn’t appeal when it’s all mixed together. Thanks for the recipe and review.
My grandmother always makes a pistachio and the pretzel pineapple salad and I loved them both. I haven’t had the cherry fluff, but will definitely make it. I will keep the pecans for that extra texture. Great review of the recipe.
Tami thank you so much for making this! I commented on your Meijer fluff video that i hoped you would try to make this because there is no Meijer within 2 hours of me. So thank you again for making this! I wish it had turned out as good as the Meijer kind. Kevin mentioned cream cheese. Do you think if you added some of that It might make it taste closer to theirs? It looks delicious even as is! Also I would have to leave out the pecans as my teeth won't allow me to chew anything like that. But I sure can't wait to try this! 😊 😋

Add mini marshmallows to that, makes it really good. Adds sweetness.
That’s how my family made it too

I love this and the orange one, but I can't make it since I have Diabetes, and I would eat the whole bowl. Thank you for making it. Yum
We really love pineapple pretzel fluff. It’s so sweet and delicious we will eat half the bowl.
Reminds me of Thanksgiving! My mom always makes this. I love the texture that the pecans add.

Could you reply with the amounts of each ingredient?Because cause I like the ingredients you said you used for your version😀

I bet pecan halves would be nice!
Candied pecans on top as a garnish sounds good.
It does!

The Meijer was so much better.
The recipe my grandmother made used cream cheese. I never liked it but it didn’t feel like a holiday without it
Unfortunately, cream cheese wouldn’t add sweetness. This really needs more sweet for me.
@@TamiDunnit also had pudding mix, just recalled that. I’m sure that provided sweetness. There were also marshmallows mixed in
I make that for special occasions.crystal loves it.she will eat a whole bowl by herself.🍒🍒
I’m glad she enjoys it 😃
Maybe add a little almond extract?
Maybe the store cherry fluff was something similar!
Great video thanks for sharing ❤
You are so welcome 🍒
Sounds good
Thank you!

I much prefer the Meijer version.

Can you please do a comparison of the Krusteaz snickerdoodle cookie mix, and the Betty Crocker snickerdoodle cookie mix?
I will look for them 😃

It still wouldn’t have been as sweet unfortunately.
Cherry fluff Hmmm sounds like a Girls name who wears Oversized t shirts and likes oversized plushie toys
