I’ve followed both of these amazing athletes for a long time, and am so glad they are doing this show. Thanks to Brooks and the other sponsors. I remember when Des was first part of Hanson-Brooks Distance Project and thought she was shy. Big mistake! 😂 Des has a wicked sense of humor! And Kara is so real. Wanting to “bury” her son by beating his 5K time is hilarious. Both women are winners in my book.
The one race I'm determined to crack even though I always hate myself by the end of it is the Chestertown Challenge half on the Eastern Shore of MD. It looks great on paper but it's super spread out, it's in almost relentless sun, it's windy both ways, and the "gentle" rolling hills just suck the energy out of your legs. I kinda bombed it this year and somehow it only lit a fire under my butt to do better LOL.
One of my favorite signs to hold up at a race: “Toll booth ahead. Exact change only!” I get a lot of runners asking if they can borrow a quarter or saying they left their money in their other shorts, etc. 😂
love you guys and loved the useful nyc marathon tips i will definitely think about as i run ny for the first time tomorrow! 😬🥹 i’ll be cheering for des from an hour or so behind her! 🗣️💕🏃🏻♀️➡️
Intentional strength work constantly falls to the bottom of my list and doesn't get done. But I set a goal of 20 minutes a day for 4 weeks and dare I say saw a hint of ab improvement yesterday! Hoping to stick with it through the winter!
Probably gonna get some hate for this - but the NYC marathon is the one I disliked the most 🤣🤣🤣 that one is a one and done for me!! Also I am totally down to do a sign for Kara in Atlanta!! Can’t wait to hear more details on that race!! Let’s get a whole crew with signs for Kara!!! Good luck tomorrow Des! Can’t wait to watch the race!!
every podcast makes me love Des more than the one before. she’s a stealthy standup human. very subtle. 💜
this was so good. Easily my favorite running podcast, they’re so real. 🎉🎉🎉😊
Kara, I personally love candy corn and I don't understand the hate either!

Every runner has heard it, and every marathoner knows it, the marathon is just a 10K for which you run 20 miles to get to the start line.
Classic Des: “I don’t know, maybe.”
I love Fall running. Temp is good, views are gorgeous. All my PRs are from Fall races if I remember right.
Same. I PR'd actually last week in a local 5k and made it to the finish line in 23:41! So proud! 🎉 Hope your running is going well.

1 Ave is the best and most dangerous part of the race. If you go to fast here you WILL PAY for it later!
Note to self. Never watch the nobody asked us live shows q&a section. I can never hear what anyone is saying when they're asking questions.
The more I listen to this podcast the more I like Des and the less I like Kara. Congrats, Des, on your great showing today in NYC.
