Several traps in that puzzle to punish those not fully checking the wordplay - one or two of which did not disrupt the intersecting answers. All carefully navigated here. Much to be learned from watching David. I too am now a 'squizzer'.
This is a masterclass in advanced solving a fiendishly difficult puzzle. A lot of knowledge of all things UK makes this very challenging for those of us who live in other parts of the planet. Still immensely enjoyable
This was my blog puzzle, and I had pretty much the same problems as David - except saw fritter right away. I also had ordinals for a long time, but then I got ligament showing that must be the wrong answer. I had never heard of the spear, but the cryptic is very clear. Some speed solvers apparently had premise and threnody, resulting in a leader-board full of unsuccessful solves. David carefully parses all the clues, dodging these traps.
I found terminus and rhapsody 2 of the easier clues...not that I got many others. But guess it shows how sometimes the best brains are thinking so differently and miss what appears to be obvious
"typo squiz" - trademark that ;)

37:50 “…quite a significant number of ISSUES…” 😂😂😂
I thought I was getting the hang of these puzzles - today’s brought me down to earth! Brilliant solve.

Wow, some of these clues (and answers) were vicious!! Well done to diligently explain each item and issue 😉
Thanks!
What an incredible slog but you still pulled it off in the end!
