This is absolutely beautiful to watch! I love seeing dogs that engage with their handlers while they're heeling. I would love to teach this style to my golden boy, he's just turned 2, do you think that it would be possible to teach it, and in a sense 're-train' our his heel position?
Love watching your dogs. Their focus is fantastic! I notice your left hand is moving/popping slightly. Is that right? Is that how you get the awesome focus with your dogs? And what type of a collar are you using?
With Sparks the baby I was using the lead very lightly to talk and communicate with him, also called feathering. But no, I do not use the lead to get focus, I actually do most of my heeling work off lead....thanks for your kind comments.
Thank you for your reply Janice. I have never heard the term "feathering", with that, what type of a collar are you using for Sparks? I have a young Dobie girl who loses focus some of the time. I liked what I saw on your video so I ordered you 2 disc DVD last night. Hoping it will give me some more insight.
All my dogs are wearing a flat buckle collar. Feathering is a term an english trainer coined, it's not popping, but gentle flicking with the lead to help the dog if/when needed to focus up.
Love it!!!

You can certainly try!
How do you get the eye contact getting them to look up at you
usually food.
You get the behavior that you reward. Dog looks up at you, treat or toy reward magically appears!
@@daveheel "How do you cook a steak?" "Usually with fire." Thanks, brainy smurf.
@@drugbuddy665 do you know a thing about dog training? I do. I've competed.
I don't want eye contact when my dog is beside me.
