Thanks for keeping up the good work, Boolmaster. You and Lute were some of my inspirations for dabbling in video-making. I saw that really anybody who was willing to put in the work and put their ideas down could do it. It's weird to see someone like you who I view as clearly better than me on this video-making axis have less views than I do on my one real video but perhaps I just got lucky or Dragon Ball is popular enough to where I can luck into a couple hundred views. This video was 🔥🔥🔥
DUDE. This means a lot to me, I really appreciate it. I put my heart and soul into literally every project. When the views are a bit lower, comments like this keep me motivated. (Also I watched some of your video, I loved it!)
@@bool_master I got hooked thanks to the Algorithm blessing me with The Greatest Story in Melee History. 😘Keep up the good work, bro. I'm gonna try to watch your full catalogue because I been slacking no cap 😔
boolmaster content is next level. he consistently makes videos you'd expect a channel with 100k+ subs to produce. please give this man his flowers!! (9/10 since no segment on high school musical)
boolmaster, I would not say this is my favorite video of yours. Having said that, I've been thinking of "stick rate" in relation to your channel. It would seem like your views are going down, but the people watching you like the videos, and they are at least good if not great. It is at least the case for me that I was so impressed with the first number of videos I watched (which were melee), that I watched the rest of your videos when they came out and thus stuck around, hence my reference to "stick rate". So I think it would be a mistake for you to stop because of low views. Obviously, that's not to say I know you should continue despite any other important things to consider in the rest of your life (which I know nothing about). However, in terms of TH-cam, I can think of very few other channels about which I could say that they make good videos, and mean it. Your music choice is noteworthy. You keep finding new good songs to put in with little noticeable repetition. You're in my top 3 with EmpLemon and whoever else. Jussi
Hey, I appreciate the comment. I’m not stopping, I’m hoping I didn’t give anyone that impression anywhere. Next video will be out by the end of the month. I think declining views are more than okay, TH-cam and TH-cam audiences tend to be very fickle, especially considering I’m a young channel. I really only have 7 “real” videos out. That, alongside the fact I have pivoted the direction of my channel, I think it makes perfect sense that the views are where they are at RIGHT NOW, but I think it can change over time. Thanks for the comment, I will be making regular content soon! Just finding a rhythm of stuff I can reliably put out. - boolmaster
Ayyy as a fellow 20-something film fan I appreciated this subject for the same reason you chose it. Was a fun bit of reminiscence, and you always use a ton of good BGM as well 🙏
I really like your stuff you're making, I started by watching your video on mang0 vs zain and I've been watching some of your videos ever since. I'd like to give you some critiques, if that's alright with you. By no means do I want to come off as insulting or talking down to you, I'd just like to take some of the stuff that I've seen from other people who make video essays, and let you know what I liked about their content that I think would be great if you implemented into your own. Also by no means am I experienced in video essay creation, or knowledgeable in the time and effort it takes to make these kinds of videos besides meticulous script crafting/editing (my stuff I think I want to make usually gets stuck in that phase). For your discussion of Paranormal activity, I feel like you didn't make a point like the previous movies in how important the movie was, or how it spawned sequels such as with Friday the 13th, or if there are any important films that like to do the "night vision horror what-happens-in-the-dark" theming. I feel like your points you cover on what makes a movie influential for a particular year should be congruent unless otherwise stated; I feel like I was expecting something more from your discussion of Paranormal Activity. In regards to discussing years that lacked content, I feel like you talked about years that had little influence on the film industry as a whole a lot longer than you might have needed to. While important to say that not every year had something influential in the movie industry, you said it in many words that could have been reduced down. I'm not saying that what you said regarding those years (particularly2003 and 2004) did not have to be said, but I feel like there was some redundant reiteration. Adding a more formal transition from 2004 to the next year with an influential film may also help with transitioning from the topic of years without influential movies, something along the lines of "while '03 and '04 didn't have much in the world of film..." If you do want to give years without an influential movie their dues however, I feel like I'd like to hear about what else was going on in those years, despite the fact that the video is about filmography. An example would be the world of auditory entertainment (music), like how in 2003 Evanescence came out with the album containing "Bring Me to Life," or how in 2004 Kanye West came out with his debut album (a parallel to some of the Kanye clips you'd use later in the video). I think it would also be worth it to establish some names for topics you go over, despite how briefly they are touched on (which I'm not saying is a bad thing, I'm just saying that despite not needing a lot of video-time, some topics still should be given a name). I feel like during your discussion of Avatar, defining movies with similar narratives that you're trying to call "not copy/paste jobs" as "themes" or "thematically parallel" would be a great way to move forward with being able to talk about themes without having to reiterate that "despite having similar plots, these movies being discussed are not the same." Another example would be naming the ability for Star Wars to stay a loved movie series despite rapidly improving technology standards for special effects "staying power." Again, I want to reiterate that I love your stuff, and I don't mean to say ANY of this stuff as mean, hurtful, or as a "you suck" message, rather I would like to bring these points to light as a potential means of improving your content. By all means you have the ability to just say "fuck off" and dismiss this comment, I don't want you to think that "if you don't implement these points I'll hate your content," I just would like to tell you that I really like your work, and here are some points I think would enhance your content if improved upon.
Dude! I really appreciate the feedback. Love comments good and bad. I’ll reread this and keep it in mind when making future videos. Thank you for the well written and lengthy criticism. Don’t take it personally and I too want to make the best content I can.
