I was 9 years old when I heard this speech in Memphis and I was beat to a pulp for just listening to it. It changed the course of my life but not how you folks now would think.
The real reason they took him out is because he started preaching about the wealth inequality in America. That was far too dangerous for the government to allow.
Sometimes, when I watch Dr. King speech, it makes me amazed that humanity, as horribly evil and corrupt as we can be, could produce one man, so unashamedly good and full of light. Dr. King is the greatest man that's ever lived.

This was such a wonderful creative time in his life. By 1968, 'we as a people' meant all Americans, black and white, here he was challenging the very essence of American society itself, specifically the Vietnam War and economic inequality. And it was because of this creativity that he was killed.
Maybe he had a dream or premonition and really did hear and see the Lord talking to him. This speech is deep and considering what happened, rip Dr. Martin Luther King, certainly looking back at this now. Sometimes all of us do, have the premonitions or that constant intuition, and we didn't even realize this.
Rest in peace Dr Martin Luther King. A man who visited my hometown city in the United Kingdom of Newcastle. We have a statue of him at the university. His impact is unreal. What he done not just for the culture and for the black community as a Blackman myself the real change was when he got presidents on board. Talked about “we” the people. Not just black. I am an Australian of Maltese heritage and in my sixties Martin Luther King is the greatest human being ever and my idol he promoted equality and no discrimination for minority's and everyone else that were treated as second class by the United States and by the rest of the world authorities at that time. he's statement that a person should be only judged by their character/action is worldwide and is forever if he had of lived a long life the message would never have changed if there's a heaven that's where he is cheers
He did so much in his young life. He was destined for greatness and though he was robbed of that chance, I hope somehow he knows what a lasting impact he had on this country.
It’s crazy how this was his last speech before he would be murdered just hours later. Much like how Moses didn’t get to lead his people to the promise land. At leas he got to see it.
This man is probably one of the bravest people ever recorded. He knew there were hitters out for his blood. You can see his fear when he talks about it. You can see him resolve himself in the middle of a speech to untold thousands to provide meaning to his last words and the movement he championed. He knows he’s a dead man likely, but he conquered it and didn’t let his fear destroy his life’s work.
That was an amazing moment that he created moments before his death it like he sensed something was coming to a end but he wanted to let the people know it was going to be alright whatever happens it will be ok because the movement was going to live on without him
